But if you think about it, jayce's bad negotiating skill led to the successful creation of hextech by him meeting Viktor and the downfall of silco by just wanting jinx in exchange for the nation of Zaun.

One detail that you missed: When Jayce busts open the door to the shimmer factory in episode 8, the door crushes a worker and probably kills him. A couple seconds later, you can briefly see the dead worker crushed under the door right before Jayce stands in font of him and poses like a hero (not knowing the guy he just murdered is right behind him).

She killed Silco accident because she was having a mental breakdown, I don’t even know what other reason you were thinking implying she’s a dumbass. She cried because he was like a father to him. I agree joining the person who killed her father figure was strange but he would’ve killed her too if she didn’t. After that he was feeding her lies and manipulating her her whole life to keep her on his side, hence the reason he ended up in the chair when Jinx thought he was going to throw her away. Jinx is one of the most tragic characters that I've seen in media. The hardest thing is that abandonment and trauma can really change a person until they're unrecognizable, where there was once love there is now internal chaos and destruction. Just like Jinx, most people dealing with similar abandonment and trauma from those closest to them in real life rarely have happy endings either - life imitates art.

5:35 I'd like to point out that it seemed to me like Silco took a very deep breath before Sevika released the gas in the room. I think they meant to show that Silco was holding his breath while he did his monologue (only breathing out), and then when he couldn't hold it anymore he took another breath with the mask before giving it to Finn. It feels sort of awkward but I think that's what they tried to do with that scene.
Also no one seems to comment on how Ekko showed the watch to Jinx. This was a game they played as kids frequently as it seems. It involved some sort of timer for him to get to her without getting shot. That's why she laughed at the watch. He was inviting her to play one last time.

I was surprised when it was revealed that Fishbones is Hextech powered. I was even more surprised when it was revealed that the warhead itself was made from "conventional" explosives. Looks like the Hextech was used as a propellant force for the rocket, not as a warhead. Makes sense, as "conventional" warheads of that size should not be able to make it all the way from the bay area up to the high council room (with great accuracy). A great detail added by writers.

And recently in the client archives, Jinx was already on the process of making Fishbones, who she considers her only friend. Silco knew about this bec he saw how much effort she put into it and told her to take care of herself and Fishbones. The Hextech gemstone is the only component left to maximize Fishbones' power.
To Jinx, Fishbones is her Tibbers which is one of the important things she carries around.

It is dark and full of deadly gadgets, seemingly fun, but all the 'friends' there are just painful memories; it is at the top, but constantly hanging over a bottomless pit. Finally, it is built on a broken ventilation fan - something that could do immense good for the people below, but never will because nobody has both the will and the know-how to fix it.
That also makes it the opposite of Ekko's home in literally every aspect.

When Jinx shows up in the mirror behind Caitlyn, this is also the first time we see her eyes as purple/pink. Albeit created by shimmer, and therefore also shining like hell, I think this is the exact moment when she was completely out of reach for Vi. She may not have accepted it herself before she shot Silco and sat in the Jinx chair as opposed to the Powder chait. The "reunion" scene in Silco's office made his charcter way better to me. In my interpretation, he had no idea what was really happening there and was just giving a power speech about loyalty and shit. When Sevika cuts Fin, you can see that Silco actually lost his shit and was truly surprised, but quickly recomposed himself and acted like he knew all along. The same way he was enduring the pain of breathing the poisoned air just to indimidate the Barons, you can see he was being afected by the air because he took a breath with the mask before handing it to Fin and Sevika quickly ventilates the room after Silco made his scene, if he was "imune" to the heavy air, they could just leave it there, since every one else was already masked.

It's in Sevika's interest to save Silco, because once Silco's dead, they (Finn or other Chembarons that will take Silco's chair) can easily dispose of Sevika because she has no loyalty -(e.g. killing Silco).
It's also noteworthy that while Jinx and Silco had a strong father-daughter dynamic, Sevika also treated Silco as a father figure.
I'm not sure about Sevika taking over Silco's position, because it wouldn't create enough tension in Zaun for the other stories to occur. Sevika's role was to be a right hand man for whoever was in power, and it would be nice to keep it that way. Although her augment is on her left hand, it fits the theme nicely of her being the "right hand" of a chembaron. I'm not opposed to Sevika being the leader though, and I would support Renni's takeover.

  • @fauxpas4589
    @fauxpas4589 2 ปีที่แล้ว +203

I think also during the last scene with Sevika by the empty chair, the lyric is "what we could have been", hinting at what Sevika and Silco could have done for an independent Zaun. Because now that Silco is gone, there is no real leader to step into place like Silco did when Vander "died", hence Zaun is likely heading towards darker, more chaotic times.
Also all the symbolism and lyrical narration during the last scene is just perfect.

Actually, the song "what could have been" is about the relationship between Vi and Jinx. In the song it describes Jinx's point of view of the whole situation between them. The first line in the song goes "I am the monster you created" which is clearly referring to the name of the finale and one of Jinx's lines when she talks about how Silco was not the one who created 'Jinx' but it was really Vi. When the music of "what could have been" begins Jinx says "I thought maybe you could love me like you used to. Even though I'm different" there is also a line in the song that goes "why don't you love who I am?" All the lines in the song correlate to Jinx's feelings.

A piece from Swain's lore: "After securing the western borders, Swain’s own reputation was secured in Shurima, where his forces raised countless noxtoraa above the desert sands". The flashback scene where we see young Mel and Ambessa looks like shurima. If we consider that this quote from Swain's lore actually takes place at the same time as Mel's flashback, he would only take power over Noxus many years later according to his lore. This is where my theory kicks in: the man who killed Mel's brother could be Swain. Imagine that Ambessa and her son were supporting Darkwill's reign, and when Swain took the power over, Mel's brother got executed. This would actually be a brilliant hook for season 2 because Mel's flashback with her mom is all about teaching her how to let no bloodline live because it could rebel against you in the future, meaning that if Swain actually is the man who crossed her brother, he would be coming after Ambessa and Mel next. This would explain why Ambessa showed up with a whole fleet of soldiers just to visit her daughter, because she is on a run. And also would explain her sudden interest and rush to influence Piltover on making hextech weapons. She knows that Mel would never give her any weapons for her own sake, why would she convince an opposing region to make military defenses? Only if it would mean to defend herself from the inevitable Swain invasion.

Remember not only was Silco fond of aquatic animals, shown when he remarks how piltovan will never be able to see how beautiful a species of fish only living in Zaun sewage water is, but Silco himself was heavily linked to the sea. Another detail related to Viktor, and Jinx. Viktor after his first interaction with the cube. In ever scene, Viktor had used his cane under his right arm, because that's the leg that was the weakest. After his leg changes, he starts using the cane under his left arm. I took this to mean that after the change, in comparison to his new transformed leg, his other leg felt extremely weak and frail in comparison.
And Jinx with all the crow symbolism, is that crows are also a symbol of bad omens, or bad luck. Meaning, whenever we see a crow, it means that the situation has been 'jinxed'. But also the 'monster' flashes weren't meant to represent Powder's family. Each time Vi had mentioned a name, one of those monsters covered up the name. When she mentioned Clagger, it showed him before flashing the red monster. It's why the red monster looks like it's wearing goggles on its head.

In my opinion he did this not because he wasn't sure if this would diffuse the bomb, but rather because he was thinking about just letting the bomb go off. He realised that he didn't have long to live anymore because of his disease and he wasn't sure yet if he would accept the help from Singed. And he also was against Jayce weaponizing hextech. Okay, so while the series definitely does an excellent job at presenting us very layered and morally complex characters, and Silco is a prime example of this. I also simply can't understand why people seem to suddenly think he isn't a villain. While he certainly has the capacity of a nurturing father, abuse still comes in many forms than just the immediate physical side. All throughout, Silco feeds into Jinx/Powder's dangerous impulses by painting this picture in her head that everyone is against her; in the process, neglecting her mental heath and sanity for the sake of progressing his ideology and agenda.
I can still get behind the fact that he would not have given her up (because there was a genuine love there and Silco has some humanity), but theirs was still a toxic relationship as he enables "Jinx" and mostly ignores the ramifications. Let's also not forget that Silco is still very much responsible for other fucked up shit in the Undercity. Do we say the dude burning down an orphanage isn't a "bad guy" cause he cries while doing so? Hell no.

@@peba-moanatemoapunguika7866 well I can see the points your making, I would say he was the best father he was capable of being, you gotta remember he was broken aswell. In the first scene he has with Powder we see Silco be more focused on acting nice and just trying to find Vi, but when she clings to him and he looks to Vander's corpse we see humanity in him, he realises that she has faced the same problems he had. In general we see Silco come to realise why Vander stopped fighting, in the end we see it all come down to how the show started in a way, Silco was basically the head of the undercity and when put into the same position Vander was at the start we see him struggle the exact same way. Like you said Jynx is completely unstable but he knew that the past is what it would take to break her, which is why when he learns that Vi is back he does everything he can to kill her, because he knows deep down if Jynx is forced to choose between him and Vi that he is going to be cast aside, obviously Caitlyn throws a wrench into the decision and it's seen in the ending where he pleads to Jynx and makes her try to focus on the 'fact' that she was replaced. It's seen throughout most of the show and is implied that Silco knows that she is unstable but is still in enough control, which is why he always tried to cut off the past to her, we see this in river where Vander tried to drown him, how that Silco tried to paint Vander differently to how he knew him not how Powder knew him, but when it came to Vi he always said she was dead because their bond was too strong, he also most likely knew who Ecko was but also knew that he believed Powder was dead. In the end I think we can both agree that this show is a complete masterpiece in the complexity of the characters and story it tells, but generally I see the whole plot as being circle as Powder was left abandoned not once but twice and both times someone has come to comfort her, that being Vander (plus Vi, as we see her cling to her more than him) and Silco

13:29 I can't be the only one thinking of Zac and Rammus
also in 19:52, the original quote was much more impactful than what you summarized here. "In the pursuit of great, we failed to do good." The whole time, they thought their invention of the hextech would help improve lives and it symbolizes what they stand for: progress. Sadly, it was also what led to power and destruction, costing the lives of those they thought would benefit from it. They progressed greatly, but they failed morally.

After the flash back of them playing the game, when they jump back to real time the fight only takes about 4 seconds from when he would have gotten to the start of the fight. 25:00 In reference to the Council Archives, Jinx tries very hard to disconnect with Powder, and we can absolutely see it in the show as well. The blue little monster is more likely Powder, who Jinx had to cut away and "kill", simply because of how much guilt and pain being Powder brought.

Swain might actually use both crows and ravens. As per the wiki page it is stated in a Q&A that "Swain is aware of most major threats around Runeterra thanks to his crows, but has decided to deal with them later over more intermediate ones.
" this would suggest that he uses crows for recon. His old ultimate and current passive's names are RAVENous flock, which would suggest that ravens are present although honestly thats a bit of stretch. However, Beatrice his personal pet is confirmed to be a raven. In some of his recent art you can see that the shape of the head and beak for some resemble crows, and others ravens. I believe that he uses crows for intel gathering and ravens for combat; this would actually line up logically aswell since crows are smaller and easier to miss while ravens are larger and more imposing making them more suited for combat.

In Jinx's lair, Jinx gives Vi the choice to make her stay as Jinx in one seat or kill Cait and she will stay in the Powder seat. But later after killing Silco, whether on purpose or not, Jinx ends up sitting the Jinx chair. Jinx thought that Vi could still love her the way she used to even though she's 'different' now. But she deems that Vi has changed too I think b/c of relationship with Cait or maybe forshadowing Vi becoming a Warden? But during the 2nd act Jinx has already admitted she's differnet when she reunites with Vi for the first time in a decade. She stated that "things changed when you left... I changed..." I think here she still believed she was number one and the only one Vi could love.
Yes it did get worse, but Jinx's mental trauma did not start after Vi left. It actually started alllllll the way back to the beginning of the series when she was really little. As she's singing, we see the scratchy sketch marks during the explosions, scratchy skulls on the enforcer faces, and X's over eyes of people she cares for/knows just like when she's talking to all the dead people in her head and they flash/manifest on screen. Even though she's shown covering her eyes, those initial scratchy marks may show that she has been seeing everything as she goes. That is some serious trauma for a small child. Then when they are shown their parents, you can see Vi has not yet cried since there are no tear marks but then she finally cries. We can see that Jinx has several tear marks on cheeks but doesn't cry. Instead we see her hug her sister; eerie that she doesn't cry too. Even if she's adopted, you'd think she'd breakdown there and cry too especially with her big sis crumpling.
Also in the first act after Vi smacks Powder, she stops and inspects her hand then her fist. In the very first episode, Vander says that she is responsible for the other kids since they follow her. And he points to her fighter's bloody knuckles and says that's no way to find an answer; it only leads to more problems. When she inspects the hand she hit Powder with, there is blood on it; she cannot blame her sister for the death of the others. It's on her as leader. When she inspects her fist she understands Vander's wise words and then proceeds to walk away from Jinx. The heart breaking things here and that Marcus might be a double-dealer but does not have it in him to kill innocents so he locked u Vi; I don't know if he had it in him to kill Cait. That and Vander would not leave Vi to protect the undercity, Silco would not leave Jinx to get his demands for the undercity, and I believe back then Vi was just leaving to clear her mind. I don't think she could have ever have it in her to abandon Powder. But Jinx had it in her to abandon Vi in the end.

I think that the scene where Jinx removed the cloche at the dinner table may have been a reference to Batman: Death of the Family

There's also theories surrounding Mel and her assistant Elora.
    - Elora is actually LeBlanc in disguise
    - Elora might be a Black Rose Spy
    - Elora is Camille??? (I've seen one on Reddit)
    - Mel is LeBlanc??? (Reddit) But at Ep. 9 this theory might fall easily. Mel is probably a Solari worshipper or atleast that metal on her back is made from Solari.
At the final scene, the sub title is written *Chimes.. when the metal at her back shines. Chimes is a bell like sound so it's like it's emmiting something.
Also on the same scene, the metal was emphasized and X-rayed as it is some sort of part of her skin not a part of her clothing, and the camera zooms out.

When Vi told Jinx to remember, she told her to remember Vander, Milo and Claggor, those are her demons, tormenting her with guilt, Jinx strats to suffer and in that moment Silco tells her not to listen, trying to protect her, he lost it and wanted to shoot Vi because Jinx was suffering becuase of her. He never feared Jinx turning on him, he just wanted to protect her. Silco was the ONLY one that loved her, she was his daughter, he aceppted her for who se was and even tried to help her to move on from the past just as we saw in the river. Vi on the other hand, wanted Powder back, she didn't want Jinx, she never accepted her. That's why Jinx really turned into a more hearthless psycho, she killed her father, the only person that truly cared for her...

    • @jhmi7877
      @jhmi7877 2 ปีที่แล้ว

My alternative pov to this: The whole thing about Vi "never accepting/truly loving" Jinx is a little off, I feel. It doesn't account for the fact that Vi hasn't had the chance to actually spend time with her to begin with. For all she knows, Jinx could've been kidnapped by Silco, drugged to hell, and is being made to do all these awful and dangerous things. So of course her priority would be to try and save her; to try and remind her who she was before Silco came into the picture. If they had the chance to actually catch up with each other (in a non life threatening way), I have a good feeling that Vi would have been able to show her that she'd still love her regardless of how much she's changed. And THIS is the reason why I think Silco wanted to shoot Vi. Vi was bringing up people in Jinx's life that had loved her and whom she also loves, which leads me to Silco...
Silco being the "only one who loved her"?-- he definitely cared for Jinx, BUT he also made her fear everyone else so that she'd depend on him. He took FULL advantage of her fears of being abandoned, which is a classic tactic for co-dependency. He constantly made her believe that everyone will only betray her, that only he could really love her. These are lies, of course. There's NEVER any truth in a statement of "no one else will ever love you but me". This is a good reason why he doesn't want Vi in the picture (remember how he freaked the f out when he found out that Vi was alive and in Undercity?), and why he wanted to shoot Vi dead when she was bringing up the people that Jinx loves. Vi, along with other people who Jinx cares for, is a person that could make Jinx leave Silco. Essentially, he didn't want her to make her own decisions. He didn't want the possibility of her leaving him out of her own accord, which is why he found ways to manipulate the situation for her to stay. Not to say that there wasn't any love there, but if there was, then it was slathered with a lot of toxicity.
