The Sponsor of this event makes it sound like this is going to be a documentary about the terrible injuries that are possible in big air or something lol
37:00 Notice how Sloan's 5 O'Clock shadow extends to his forehead. This is due to a condition which causes Elliot to grow an extra set of eyebrows before every competition just to increase his natural intensity. The man is noble enough to shave them off before he competes so as not to intimidate the others. Helmets off to this sportsman. A true American hero.
13:40 the park in the top left has huge bowls and quarter pipes and looks tiny from the top of the mega ramp quarter wow.. the 16yr old popping massive 540 on that 25ft ramp is a boss can't imagine how good he will be in 6 years
Proxima Centauri well it is called big air. Clay went higher and did harder tricks in my opinion. Taking nothing away from Gomes, but clay should have taken it.
I can't count the number of times I've watched this competition at this point. I have a few thoughts I'd like to finally share. 1) Based on the format that exists, it makes sense that Elliot won. He maximized his output based on the scoring format. Also, much respect to him for staying tough after that gnarly fall. 2) Clay got robbed of 3rd. Ronny had arguably the best gap trick for the entire event, but an alley oop varial 5 is definitely harder than a tail 3 and Clay got more amplitude than anybody. That same run he did also scored him 10 more points last year, so that doesn't make any sense. You could say that "the judges have seen it already, so they scored it lower this time." But then how do you explain Elliot winning with the exact same run he's done before? 3) Even with the format the way it is, if I was a judge, I would say screw the format and award Mitchie an even higher score. Who tf really cares about the gap tricks? The 1260 is unheard of. It's the hardest trick anyone can do on a skateboard, and he literally landed it perfectly. Anyone who says that it's easy to do on a ramp this size is dense. It's not. I'm no pro skater, but I guarantee that any pro skater would smack you upside your head for claiming that it's anything other than the hardest skateboard trick ever done. 4) The scoring format for big air needs to change, and this event proves that. The score shouldn't be distributed 50-50. Again, who tf cares about the gap tricks? Does anyone watch big air for the gap tricks? Not only that, the quarter pipe tricks are significantly more technical, more difficult, and more dangerous. It makes no sense to have the harder and more risky maneuver be weighed the same as the easier and safer one. It's dumb. It should be scored as 65-35 with the majority to the quarter pipe trick, or at the very least 60-40.
@@airballsonly cool bro. You took that pretty personally, didn't you. Doesn't change the fact that the quarter pipe tricks are more difficult and more dangerous, and should be weighted more heavily.
