Vishal Bhardwaj's adaptation of William Shakespeare's 'Hamlet', Haider - a young man returns home to Kashmir on receiving news of his father's disappearance. Not only does he learn that security forces have detained his father for harboring militants, but that his mother is in a relationship with his very own uncle. Intense drama follows between mother and son as both struggle to come to terms with news of his father's death. Each community has its narrative and we should respect that shouldn't we ? How else will there be a Resolution ? I just watched this movie on Netflix and I am completely amazed on how it was executed. Shahid Kapoor reminds me of Christian Bale, he has this dark, brooding depth in acting which is mesmerizing to watch. His Plaza scene was astounding! Sending all my love from the Philippines to all the cast and crew of Haider! 😍😘💖💖💖

@@rahulnarulaa it is a good movie, I know it has become controversial because the backdrop of the movie was set in Kashmir. I understand there are raw and intense emotions coming behind from people. But the readaptation of Hamlet on this movie is really good. Minding the fact that I've watched several plays and movies of most Shakespeare adaptations. Though I am concerned that people might not like how the thematic aspect of the movie was based of the Kashmir incident in the 90s, I don't have much understanding of what happened during those times, and I certainly hope that people don't vilify this movie based off on that. I hope you get to appreciate the movie as I did.

Kevin Sunny Can’t deny that for the performances. But Haider’s cinema language, music, background score, subtexts & subtleties are way better. Overall, a better made film I think.
It's one of the gem of bollywood ever produced. Kudos to Vishal Bharadwaj who has guts to make movie like this. Movie depicts some ground reality of Kashmiri people. We seek more movies like this. Shahid has done commendable work beautifully played his role . It's my top notch choice of Vishal Bhardwaj as well as in Shahid's collections

My my, Shahid Kapoor is obviously the most underrated actor in Bollywood and Vishal Bharadwaaj who is a genius is always pulls the monster that posses somewhere in Shahid Kapoor like he played double part in Kaminney Udta Punjab and Haider.

Shahid is a strange example, where an actor diminishes, when he actually starts acting.
English captions kisne likhe hain? "Main rahun ya main nahin" ka caption Hona chahiye "To be or not to be.." Ye Hamlet hai. Foreign audience ke liye kuch toh content rakhiye taaki wo log film ki DVD buy karein.
Bhai i wrote the captions long back in 2014. I tried to keep it as literal as possible without tryin to put too much emphasis on cannotation.

watched this in theater with my freind who don't like this kind of art films but ultimately he also loved this.....theater experience was not good though as there were only just 5 6 people more in hall...it was all quiet.

I found the adaptation of Hamlet very haunting, half way through you completely forget you are watching William Shakespeare and certainly the character goes mental like Hamlet is known to be especially when you realise he kills the "two Salman Khans" believe me the only time you laugh in this haunting story-line is the part about Salman Khan, all actors are haunting in their characters and the mother looks beautiful at the end in a five second scene which makes you scream "WHY?", you want Shahid to pick up Shradda in her shroud (absolutely haunting) though he has been hit by a bullet so you never see it happening, finally SHOCKING story about Azad Kashmir, I have only seen it once from the hilltops of Pakistan. Hope all the people enjoy their freedom, never knew the part about Jhelum river SHOCKING. Film deserved the National Award. Finally, I don't like William Shakespeare certainly sounds better in Hindi.

Admit it or not but Vishal Bhardwaj is the best director of Indian Cinema. Be it Omkara, Maqbool, Kaminey or Haider he has always delivered the best.
