William Gray Sean Ryder said it was instigated partly because he had a costly divorce bill. They've split up again now anyway, and it seems to be acrimonious again.
One of the reasons the Roses got back together was Brown and Squire meeting up at Mani's mother's funeral. Events like that put everything else into perspective.
Ian's intelligence is so under estimated. Lovely to see him being interviewed by another musician who is on his level, rather than the normal condescending interviewers who just piss him off.
A lot of comments about Ian Brown's intelligence on here, which is interesting. It seems to me there are a lot of people who are media savvy these days who play well to the camera and appear to be intelligent, who may or may not be. Meanwhile, there are (as I interpret it) quieter, less fame-hungry people like Ian Brown who create some of the most glorious, iconic art that has ever existed - and I don't think I'm being hyperbolic there, I believe that's true. If you disagree, good for you, but what have you done - especially those who are questioning how intellectual someone with an accent may be?
@@davidhenderson9707 Big time , he's getting some unwarranted hatred from so called fans for going against the status quo, the same people that allegedly loved him for it to begin with, Ian is being Ian and thank God for him. :)

Love how jools interviews brown with respect and not downplaying him and making him out to be a sham, brown was so honest and about the music not the fame and the publicity, proper rooted love him
Ian Brown And John Squire opened my eyes to music in 1989, Im on my 3rd Stone Roses album because of the amount of times i listen to it. Great man, hail Sir Ian Brown.
Legend - I was 15 in the late 80s and we used to swagger about Manchester thinking we were Ian Brown. Love the fact he doesn't sound American when he sings. To be fair his row with John squire was bitter and lasted ages - it was only at Mani's mams funeral that they saw each other again and talked. Sure the money was attractive but they'd had huge numbers thrown at them for years already.
I'm glad the Roses did sort it out. Seen them with my Mrs at T in the Park in 2013/14I think 🤔. No sure when it was Took my then 10 year old son(18 now😮) down to the Etihad to see then on Father's Day wknd 2015...... Brilliant memories.

He put Dr Dre on blast, he was meant to have quit years ago if I was dre I'd make him phone the wife and say it was a mistake. For someone who went to grammar school he isn't that bright.
He’s one of my musical heroes. He’s not perfect, nobody is, but The Stone Roses album changed my life and I still listen to it over 30 years later. That band changed British music forever. His solo stuff was fine, when I got to see them in the Etihad stadium in Manchester I felt like I had completed a journey. True musical genius can affect you that deeply. For that I’ll always be grateful to this guy.
Ian Brown seems so chilled in this interview. Like he feels really comfortable with Joel's Holland although Joel's is the best. Never comes across as someone who thinks he's better than anyone however he must be the GOAT when it comes to pretty any genre of music.
I'm a big stone roses and ian brown fan. I went to wembley to watch the roses before they split up again. I like the fact he said he like rap cos i love my hip hop like cyprus hill and beastie boys i just wished they'd done another album. It would've been the cherry on the cake👌
Heaton Park was the best gig I’ve ever been to, and it was so poignant for a lot of Roses fans who were too young to see them first time around, a proper bucket list gig.
Well Ian mate - you were wrong about yer former band mates. Thank fuck !! Long live The Stone Roses. Manchester band and PROUD !! Yaay. Peace & love. Rx
Just came from the Madison Square Garden show, and Ian sounded AWESOME! I really didn't know what to expect given his track record with live shows, and I had the greatest time sweating my ass off dancing. Ps there was no one there under 30. :D
"me and the gang 'ant spoke for 8 years". but luckily when they did they realised they were best friends. Which reminds me I must find the numbers of the old friends I've lost touch with.
@VinylHigh Na they got back together because Renni finally said yes, Ian and John had been talking about it for some time, Manni was obviously game, but they weren't doing it without Renni, pretty sure even after a divorce settlement he'd be doing alright regardless of a Stone Roses reunion...
