The Hello Weber Stuyvesant commercials are healthier then the product! I vividly remember seeing them as a kid in German movie theaters before the main feature! They impressed me always! But I never started smoking cigarettes!
I love these 80s cigarette ads! does anyone remember the the line: "Who's that guy lightin up the sky"? think it was winston cigarettes. been looking for it on youtube but no luck. anyone have it?
I've never been a smoker. In the 1970's and 1980's (that was before the great anti-smoking campaigns began in the mid 1990's) I liked listening to cigarette commercials on radio, and watching them at the bioscopes. In my mind, with broadmindedness and lateral thinking, I would just separate the product from the advert. So, they'd for instance be ads for travel adventure, sports, classic America, the great outdoors, traveling America, etc. It was a case of enjoying the ads without the smoke.
Enjoying a styvesant filter, while watching this....
Rest in Peace to Jan (a good man) who filmed these adverts...
Goddamnit smoking is cool

TV cigarette ads were banned in 1970 when Nixon signed legislation outlawing it on tv and radio.
These people are rich, they can afford lung cancer.
