BEST OF BOTH WORLDS? 2017 Suzuki GSXR 750 **First Ride**

  • The GSXR 750 is the best of both worlds if you compare it to a 600cc and a 1000cc. You get the weight of a 600 and some of the power of a liter bike. This bike is fast and well balanced. Now I see why so many people used to tell me to get a 750!

    I have a 2022 GSXR 750 now at 54 years old. I’ve have the bike for 6 months and am shocked at how much I love it!
    It’s all blacked out, full M4 exhaust, Sprint air filter, ECU was flashed by Chris Moore/Moore Mafia (look up his channel), grips for the hands, tanks grips (so much easier to hold position, too cheap not to do), steel braided lines doubled my braking power, and next come performance clutch and brake levers.
    After that butt load of cash the bike is perfect. I might do ceramic wheel bearings one day, but now we are getting into things I just want and do not need.
    I don’t ride super hard. Too Old. I finally grew up about a year ago now.
    The bike keeps me young and breaking the law a little bit. That front tire gets really light in first gear.
    Get One. They are amazing for fun, value, life is short, gas mileage is anywhere from 35-45 mpg, depending on if I am riding hard or cruising on the highway.
    We ride to add life to our days, not days to our life.

    People complain the 600/750 are out of date but at the same time complain newer bikes have too many ride aids. We are lucky Suzuki still makes these, especially the 750. Yamaha just killed the R6 as a road bike and it had the electronic updates that Suzuki needs to do. I really like the GSX-S1000F as a road bike that engine is amazing but I think I need to try the 750 which is about the same performance. I miss my 2007 GSX-R600.

      I hear ya man! Too bad the other brands don’t have a 750cc bike class. Only other ones close would be the Triumph 765 and maybe the Panigale V2, which is an updated 959 if I’m not mistaken.

    • @mindspinn311
      @mindspinn311 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@itsmeericb Some of them did in the mid 90’s. Suzuki kept theirs as the last holdout to be the only ones, but they were also the first 750 in 1985 and really the first modern supersport. The Triumph I do like but it’s a Street Triple unless you want a $17,000 limited edition Daytona and it makes less than 130hp. Still very good though. The Ducati V2 would be a great bike but totally different experience and also expensive. The ZX-6R 636 is the closest but still doesn’t have that 750 power and nowhere near the top speed.

    I think at this point, a lot of people opt to get 1000's not for that extra bit of power, but for all the extra's. Most have a better display compared to their 600 counterparts. Traction control, wheelie control, tunable throttle response, engine breaking, ABS, auto blipper, quickshifter etc etc. As it's always said, on the street you aren't using the power of the 1000.
    I think if all of the electronics and 'luxuries' of the new 1000 cc bikes appeared on a new 600, it would be incredibly popular. The gap between 600cc and 1000cc continues to grow larger though, and not because of the power I don't think.

    • @itsmeericb
      @itsmeericb  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right. The extra power is nice but they put all of the looks and fancy features in the 1000s. The 600s get no luxuries or design changes over the years.

    Ive done 15k on mine and no street bike comes close in my opinion. It is the perfect mix of everything. The style grows on you. Mine is all black with no badges and its the subject of a lot of staring contests lol.
    They will chew up a lazy 1000 rider once they get de-restricted and you hit the twisties. My friend places 1st regularly racing his old 2001. The GSXR chassis is world renouned for its stability and friendliness. Obvious that reliability is no question either. In first gear full throttle it is right at the limit of what the street tire can handle. Its lighter than all other 600 chassis and weighs only a few lbs more than the GSXR600.

    I’m from the uk so our bike laws are different, we have to do a basic training first which only allows you to ride a 125cc. Depending on your age that’s all you can ride for a few years. I’ve just sold my 125 and bought a gsxr 750 and the weight difference is incredible. So for Americans who (I believe) can jump on any cc’d bike from the get go, not only think about the power, consider the weight.

    One thing to remember, the 1000s will do 100 mph in first gear, which means you ever take it to redline on the street and your looking at loss of licence and big fine.
    You can just never ride them hard on the road.
    Get a 600, install a three tooth bigger rear sprocket to shorten the gearing, and you have a road and track rocket that you can really have some fun on.

    • @itsmeericb
      @itsmeericb  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah I used to have a 600 and it was perfect for the street. Only problem is there aren't very many good looking 600's out there except for the R6. All of the new designs go towards the 1000's. Now we can also say the same thing for sports cars. People own 500+ hp cars and you can't use all of that on the street either. Americans love to have power on tap no matter if we use it all or not. Hahaha!

    “Do you really need 1000 when you have 750?” Who doesn’t need more power!? Why would anyone want to stay with slower, less powerful bike? There’s a huge difference in torque and how if feels and sounds. I enjoy 1000 because it screams less on highway cruising. Smaller engine even in top gear it screams too much in higher rpm. With 1000 and Busa 1340cc bikes bike is not being ripped hard with crazy rpm noise cruising around highway speeds. Can 750cc keep up with 1000? Of course it can. But with more screaming because of smaller engine. Personally I don’t like hearing bike scream all the time. I’d rather get bigger engine and relax more and enjoy the trip.

    • @itsmeericb
      @itsmeericb  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anyone can ride a 1000 fast in a straight line. Unless you are Rossi and have been racing for years on a track, you will never get the most out of a 1000. Smaller displacement bikes are great because you can actually ride the piss out of them in reference to curves (300cc-600cc). If all you are doing is drag racing on the highway than 1000 all day.

    • @lawrencecarmen2473
      @lawrencecarmen2473 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@itsmeericb I’m not talking about “fast” or “straight line”. We’re not racers here. Just regular people. I’m talking about driving Toyota 4 cylinder engine vs. Ferrari engine. You can enjoy city drive with bigger engine so much different without speeding like moron. And especially driving on highway cruising with 600cc is so painful with so much screaming of the engine on higher rpm because of smaller engine. It’s so much more comfortable and fun riding and cruising 1000cc at lower rpm. I get it there will always be people like you who would think they enjoy 250cc and 300cc and 600cc because you don’t know how much more quiet and stable 1000cc can be enjoyed once you get experience.

    • @itsmeericb
      @itsmeericb  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lawrencecarmen2473 Haha! I don’t know how quiet and stable a 1000cc is?? I’ve owned two and ridden plenty more. Newer 1000s are becoming as light as 600cc bikes. As far as being quiet, you’re kidding right? They are just as loud! You are talking to me as if I’ve never been on any other bike other than a 600. Come on man.

    • @lawrencecarmen2473
      @lawrencecarmen2473 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@itsmeericb 600cc has to run on higher rpm to keep up with 1000cc on lower rpm. Higher RPM means engine runs harder and louder and noisier and screams more. It’s not rocket science. I drove Toyota Corolla 4 cylinder and I drove Cadillac V8. Biiiiig difference how it drives and feels and sounds. If you don’t see how much more fun 1000cc is then we’re talking about different planets. You gotta drive whatever floats your boat. As long as you’re having fun! My fun is more power on lower rpm, less noise screaming on highway keeping up with traffic. I don’t care about speeding. I just enjoy power with ease. 600cc has power with lots of work and screaming and higher rpm simply because it’s smaller engine. It’s like sprint runner with shorter legs competing with pros with longer legs who can run same fast with less effort.

    started on duke 890 r (i wanted a torq over revs)......rode dirt bikes never street, the issue i see or experienced isnt so much riding the bike its people, traffic, emergency situations are constantly going on around....( at least in metro LA they do)......this is by far the bigger concern i have.....the bike is the easy part
    fact that these bikes handle so well at faster speeds, accelerate insanely quick and stop on a dime helps the rider out alot, but other drivers in cars cant comprehend or react very well to this reality.....
    learn how to function properly in emergencies, how to navigate and stop the bike and make good decisions in bad situations....the bikes are really incredible pieces of engineering.....faster they go better they handle and that confuses others in cars and trucks......more rural areas lot less of a concern, i just bought a set of leather pants.....F%^& road rash with capital F, lol
