You’ll be okay. I work in finance and over my 25 year career it happens a lot. Companies have zero loyalty to their workers. Always be interviewing even when you have a job to keep the skill set sharp. Move every 2 years at the most to get better pay and more seniority. Always look for other streams of income outside of a job.

I got laid off from a huge national home builder in January. I saw it coming due to the market. Thankfully I’ve also been doing hair for 9 years so I had a job the next day. Skilled trades will always be there for you! I cannot stress that enough.
This is not a wake up call, it's a basic expectation these days. Plus, companies do not give promotions, you HAVE to go to another company in order to increase your salary. Thank you capitalism!
I just got laid off last week and I can relate to all of this. Much like you I was ready to leave my job and I feel like God allowed this to happen because I wasn't moving fast enough lol. I'm looking forward to using this time to do things that bring me joy and bet on myself. Thank you for sharing your story!
@akianicole rejection is Gods redirection !!! Thank you so much for commenting ! I can relate bc I feel like God was tired of me NOT moving lol BET ON YOU. I just posted another video talking a bit about this ! We got this ! 2023 is gonna be great 😊
I’m new to your channel. I lost my job after working there for 16 years back is 2015. I went through the whole Loss and Grief Cycle: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and now Acceptance. Yes, I was bitter, but when I tell you that God leaves no stones unturned, Lord Have Mercy. I’m a thousand percent happier and I’ve found my footing. Good for you! Embrace this time, you now have the time and space to walk in your purpose!!!!!!! I’m excited and I’m looking forward to watching your next steps!!!
When one door closes more open. In the moment getting let go is traumatizing and can cause some uncertainty with life and your future but like you explained, it was really a blessing in disguise. This is why it’s important to save 6 months to a year worth of expenses and to invest often and early to provide some cushion in times like this. Proud of you ❤
Amen! For the last year or so I’ve had the super business idea. My city needs it. I’ve been getting so many signs of late pointing me in that direction. I got laid off a couple weeks ago. I think the time is now. I’m not looking for a new job (which is crazy cause my field pays 100,000+ annually) but I never loved what I did, just did it for the money and I’m over it now. Best of luck to you!!
Thank God she's married/partnered. Winter is coming. This is a sign for black women to connect with the black men that are builders in your community, support them, and they will provide opportunities for you. At minimum, we will care enough to make sure you are provided for. These companies certainly don't care about you, they only care about their shareholders and the bottom line...
So sad to hear. I just graduated college and I do see myself earning a trade skill to fall back on. Being able to do multiple tasks is the way to go. This is no longer our parents/grandparents generations there’s no staying at a company for 30 years and receiving a pension. Most companies don’t even offer pensions today. Everything is fast passed now and AI is taking over jobs
I got fired after a promotion. But it honestly felt like my first divorce, it was a relief but also confusing. But I guess God took me out of a very toxic company. It was a call center. Horrible company 😔
First divorce? How many times have you been divorced? lol So everybody (ex husbands and call center company) is toxic, but not you lol... Can't make this stuff up
this is why corporations should not be trusted. you are not their top priority, Shareholders are. You got used and spit out on the curb. You will bounce back. keep moving forward, a little wiser.
The companies don't have to handle these situations like this. It causes a lot of pointless trauma. There will be no company loyalty in the future and they'll have only themselves to blame.
Great video! Good to see other people out there that feel like me. Thought I was an alien at work knowing I needed to leave, pursue something greater and live the life I’ve imagined since a kid. Sometimes “Adulting” causes us to forget our dreams and settle for conformity or tradition. We only get one life. We owe it to ourselves to be and do what we truly want. All the best to you all on this journey called Life.
You are strong and carry yourself well regardless of the bad news. I was laid off from a radio station job in college and I was absolutely devastated. But, out of that came opportunities that I wouldn't have otherwise considered. You will bounce back and thrive!
I've been a software developer for over 20 years and have had jobs at huge corporate type places as well as small start-up type firms. After all these years I now know I would never again take a job at a huge tech company like Google, Amazon, Meta, etc. You'll always just be a number to them no matter how good you are at your job. I've never personally been laid off, but have been at companies when they happen...usually it's a sign that it's time to go somewhere else regardless of if you were part of the cull or not. Glad you're seeing the bright side. I can't tell you how many people I know that work jobs that they absolutely hate and think that they can't do better and getting laid off would be the best thing that could happen to them.
Thank you so much ! I really appreciate your comment and positivity!! I’m learning that no matter how hard I try - working for someone else I will never be good enough !!! I want to take control of my life and really change it! That’s what I’ll be working on this year ! Best wishes to you !
@@yourdestinysmiles Right on! And actually I just realized that about 2 years ago my brother was laid off from a job as a tech at a huge communications company he had been at for just shy of 20 years! The company laid him off because he was a year away from being fully vested in their pension plan, so he got the heave ho, while other younger (and cheaper) employees were kept, regardless of the fact that he was an expert in his job, while the others were no where near his level. The company simply did not care, it was all just numbers on a spreadsheet to them. Funny thing is, he had hated that job for years and after getting laid off he found a job in a completely different field (sales), that pays way better, is almost no stress, and has way more flexibility (no more punching a clock). So yes, now is a perfect time for you to take stock of things and figure out what you really want to do!

Keep your head up! I was #2 at the facility I worked at and got laid off... on my birthday, no joke! All because of sales people not being ethical... at least that was the reason for the downsizing I was given. That was my realization that it doesn't matter who you are and what you do for that company, you ARE expendable, you ARE a number. To combat this, it's important for people to be leaders, not managers. Mentir people, have empathy and sympathy, inspire a new way to do business. I got laid off too. I feel you and also did a video about it. It’s not fun, but I felt like publishing it to the world let’s you vent out your emotions. I see more jobs opportunities created online. Great video. ❤
I went through an unexpected lay off. It was a blessing looking back. It didn't feel good especially because I was the perfect employee. I was just out my 90day probation and was paying off debt, then lost my job. I was called back after 10 weeks and was out of savings even with unemployment. I started watching Dave Ramsey got The money makeover and when I went back to work I was on a mission. 3 years later I have a 6 month emergency fund. Investments and retirement accounts. I'm now preparing to get a new home. It worked out in my favor.
I’m sorry to hear that. Yes, corporations are NOT loyal to employees - just to shareholders and investors. You did the right thing to take the day to process the situation. I hope that you got a decent severance. If you haven’t done so, file for unemployment. Depending on your state, you may be able to get some education benefits as well as insurance. Keep up with whatever it is that you're doing to improve mankind or improving your life even to a slight degree each day. This is just one part of a bigger puzzle for creating my TH-cam channel about holistic health. I remember several years ago working for a large organization. The job was stressful and the moral was in the toilet. They did announce there would be layoffs coming. No time frame just layoffs coming. A few months later it seemed like a normal Monday morning everyone was coming into the office. But, the computers were turned off that was our first signal something was wrong. Then the supervisor made an overhead announcement. Did not see her just an overhead announcement. We were told to remain at our desk and if the phone rings do not answer just gather your things and go to HR. My phone did not ring but over 50% of the office was gone by noon. Never saw those people again who went to HR. I stayed about 2 more months and found another job. It was just awful. It was like something out of a movie. All my jobs were just stressful thus far in my life. Hang in there.
Just viewed your utube channel, suggestions: used your experience and pictures-write a children’s book, schedule several family members toddlers for day trips between their daycares to children museums, movies appropriate age, park visits, roller skating-all for a price.(daycares aren’t doing this)
My mom only sent me a screenshot of the article, but it was about how companies are blaming layoffs on the economy. When in reality, some of them are just doing it based on “boneheaded” decisions.💀What a surprise. The Bank of America CEO is hyping himself up for saying he’s not laying off his workers. In actuality my mothers coworker got laid off, (he was a contractor). I assume they’re just meaning the FTE’s. Eventually this facade will fade and he’ll start laying off full timers, I’m sure. There’s a bunch of kiss asses, (I’m sorry it’s true) literally drinking the kool aid on LinkedIn. Can’t believe we have to live in this shit, but luckily there are still a lot of roles to apply for.
I can say I am glad I work in hospitality we are barely laid off ever people don’t want to work in this field because they think the pay is low it depends on which company you work for my job has medical insurance company match on my 401k plan & credit union savings I worked with this company 12 years we were only laid off because of Covid but we were called back right after oh let not forget my paycheck is weekly & raises are every 6 months most Americans problem is the more money they make the more they spend without saving no matter how long I been working at my job I always always keep at least 6 months of savings for emergencies
In future interviews drop “you know”, and “like”, “whatever” in conversation with recruiter. Good attitude towards the future and being open to other opportunities.
Don't worry. From what the U.S. Government repeatedly states, "This is the strongest economy that the United States has EVER seen.......EVER!" So, I wouldn't worry about losing your job or the price of things. Life is nothing, but milk and honey in the United States in economical and job statistic terms.
Tech companies were over leveraged due to 0% interest rate, they were surviving on loans and free money printed from thin air, but now the FED has decided to increase interest rate due to inflation, so now these companies can't survive on any interest rate greater than 0%, hence the layoff. I think the Tech space is a bubble that's about to pop. But I'm sorry for you losing your job. It is what it is.
I only saw a glance of the first 3 words of your video title and thought it will be a raunchy video but then I noticed the title ends with "Off" Bummer!
What puzzles me is why anyone would hire you in the first place. You can barely put a grammatically correct sentence together and crying over a layoff shows you are not an emotionally strong person. Who would want someone like that working for them?
Nice looking lady. Need a bit of make-up and lip stick though. I grew up with a glamorous and beautiful mother, so I measure all women by the way she presented herself to the public. My late mother never left the home without make-up on and my late father never left the home unshaven. I shave everyday just like my late father did, and have a clear complexion because of it. Thanks for being a great role-model Dad! Unfortunately, how you look still plays a part in getting a job and keeping a job. My undergraduate degree is in Marketing.
I think you need to be worried about your dead parents and not commenting on a young lady's post while she's spreading positivity. Cause at the end of the day..........make or no makeup....ya mamy still dead 🤷🏾
Now these people know what the coal miners, energy industry and blue-collar laborers feel like especially after they laughed at them and told them to "learn code."

Solid advice. I followed that after my first job laid me off during the pandemic.
You do not need to jump job if you are getting promotions and raises where you are although.

This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my TH-cam channel 8 months ago about self development. Now I have 838 subs and > 400 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.
Keep at it! Proud of us.
@@yourdestinysmiles Whoever you are, I don't know you personally but I can say that you're one of the non-judgmental and open-minded people who is not fixated on tangible or external factors in order to learn from someone like me. Just because someone doesn't have a piece of paper as a credential, doesn't mean that person is not entitled to share personal experiences with the hope & intention to inspire others. Keep up with whatever it is that you're doing to improve mankind or improving your life even to a slight degree each day. This is just one part of a bigger puzzle for creating my TH-cam channel about holistic health. I literally could have died back when I was 14 years old due to major depression but here I am right now replying to you, a TH-camr, who's full of fulfillment and dedication to help others to be a better version of themselves. I ain't better than anyone else but my old self. That's all that really makes this TH-cam thing more meaningful and enjoyable. Thanks so much for your support! I am hoping that you can join me with this endless personal development journey! :)
I'm excited about not depending on anyone to help me.
Keep your chin up, young lady. I know it hurts. You'll work through this and get a fresh start and put this in the past in no time.
Thank you for your video
I am excited about self honesty! 💝
Just viewed your utube channel, suggestions: used your experience and pictures-write a children’s book, schedule several family members toddlers for day trips between their daycares to children museums, movies appropriate age, park visits, roller skating-all for a price.(daycares aren’t doing this)
You will me fine..trust me. You have a beautiful personality and excellent communication skills.
You're smart and honest :) Loved the video. All the best to you
My mom only sent me a screenshot of the article, but it was about how companies are blaming layoffs on the economy.
It's pathetic and sad the way these companies are firing people. Only earnings and share prices matter. Heartless.
Wish you all the best!
It’s business. I think it depends on your position especially in Tech. They’re just getting rid of the over hire due to COVID remote working
Whenever I record you can always here a loud background sound even tho nothings on in the house
Lay off by email, so tacky.
I am not taking about you. But I love what is happening in the world.
Get, that free money girl 🗣️💯🤫.
If you seen that Nicole Tsai video, then I’m not surprised so many tech workers were laid off.
Don't worry. From what the U.S. Government repeatedly states, "This is the strongest economy that the United States has EVER seen.......EVER!" So, I wouldn't worry about losing your job or the price of things. Life is nothing, but milk and honey in the United States in economical and job statistic terms.
Keep your head up ⚘️
Work on your resume and your skills ✌🏿
Tech companies were over leveraged due to 0% interest rate, they were surviving on loans and free money printed from thin air, but now the FED has decided to increase interest rate due to inflation, so now these companies can't survive on any interest rate greater than 0%, hence the layoff. I think the Tech space is a bubble that's about to pop. But I'm sorry for you losing your job. It is what it is.
Did you file for unemployment while you find another job ?
You look so lovelh
You kind of favor the Mowry twins!
These corps ain’t loyal🥹

How could people not expect this? How blind to reality do you have to be?
I only saw a glance of the first 3 words of your video title and thought it will be a raunchy video but then I noticed the title ends with "Off"
Bummer!

What puzzles me is why anyone would hire you in the first place. You can barely put a grammatically correct sentence together and crying over a layoff shows you are not an emotionally strong person. Who would want someone like that working for them?

Well!
Weirdo it’s 2023!
Sorry to hear this. I got laid off too from Microsoft 😢 made a similar video. We gonna get through this 🫶🏾
Start an onlyfans like your fellow black baby mamas.
Sorry ♥

Karma. Learn to Weld
Now these people know what the coal miners, energy industry and blue-collar laborers feel like especially after they laughed at them and told them to "learn code."
You are such an amazing person. You will always win and excel. Sometimes these companies don’t know our worth but what’s next for us is always what was best. Much love. 🤍🤍
