@@vlyixyou’re sorta right, power creep was a video game term of when you have an unbalanced character in the game and instead of nerfing the character the devs just buff every other character to be equal. But then that creates a problem of every character being unbalanced. In story telling terms it’s when in order for plot to further develop and in one piece’s case being in the finally saga, characters in earlier arcs who are still alive despite their showings not being strong in those earlier arcs are now suddenly on the same power to fit the narrative
I want to add about something the Supernova and Scabbard fights. Raizo hit Kaido with his own blast breath just like Luffy did when he went G5 and in both instances it harmed Kaido. Kidd suplex Kaido, again, just as Luffy did so dmg was dealth there as well. Law and Killer also bypassed his defenses and Kaido expressly states that everyone of them was able to hurt him. With that context I believe Luffys "Too Shallow" realization wasnt him stating that they werent doing nothing but they needed more.
Honestly kaido will still be the strongest but we will never see him go 1v1 with full energy and health jus like with whitebeard becuz they're supposed to be so strong that they NEED to be nerfed or else they will jus overpower everyone else 💯

Why i think Kaido was nerfed is the fact that he even states that Haki is the way to get on top and with Haki being literaly willpower and him being a depressed drunk for what we can guess is at least a decade and still having such a strong will rly is impressive. He certainly had the potential to be way stronger than he was.

The argument regarding "Luffy being in a far worse condition than Kaido" is pretty weak. Why? Let's say that Luffy was in a worse condition than Kaido prior to Gear 5. So? Luffy had multiple chances of recovery unlike Kaido YET Kaido was still playing with him by holding back his true strength. That "Kaido is getting stronger" appears to be more of him showing more of his power tbh. Dude only started getting more serious the moment Luffy was able to split the skies with him. Kaido literally still has the upperhand regardless of Luffy being distracted by the CP0 Agent. Luffy was already complaining about being at his limit beforehand. Lastly, nobody gets resurrected and get a powerup AFTER death! Meaning, whatever "worse condition" Luffy was in was instantly nullified as his DF literally recovered him as if giving him a max revive in Pokemon. "World's Strongest Living Thing" for a reason! Yes, that's the exact translation from Japanese.

Regardless, Luffy got help and multiple tries vs Kaido. I'm 100% sure that Luffy's gonna defeat Kizaru in a clear 1v1. No immediate rematches and stalls. Tbf to Kizaru, would still be high-extreme diff.
Kaidos probably the most physically strong and has the strongest physical defense which would make sense for his title, but I feel like the rest of the future antagonists will probably have more nuanced and more ability based fights rather than just beating the shit out of people. I still think Kaido's whole "in a 1v1 bet on Kaido" thing will probably stay true, but I imagine the rest of the fights are going to be more based off of devil fruit abilities over pure strength. In the case of Shanks I doubt Luffy is even going to fight him, I think its more likely they'll have a daveyback fight considering Oda added long ring long land to assumably introduce the concept for a reason. I think the best example for a character having a nuanced ability that doesn't rely on physical strength is Perona considering she couldve soloed the entire group if Usopp wasnt there. I'll admit I'm a Kaido shill because he's really cool, but I don't know how much further the "power creep" is going to go considering we're entering the final saga and assumably Luffy won't be getting all that much stronger considering hes awakened his devil fruit and has all forms of advanced haki. I feel like most of the fights from this point on are going to force the characters to use more versatility in their moves and use their brains to defeat their opponents. Luffy and Sanji most likely will learn to control their new powers to a higher degree than what they showed in Wano. Nami will probably start using Zeus in better ways, but Zoro still has a far way to go to be able to defeat Mihawk so we'll see how he develops. I think the other crew members will probably follow the same formula as Zoro, for example Franky might get to use temporary devil fruit powers through greenblood. I might be completely wrong though, and Kaido might just become another strong character but I really doubt it. Personally I don't think Imu is going to be stronger than Kaido, but that's based purely off of the little bits we've seen of that character. I imagine the power that destroyed the island was an ancient weapon, since the devil fruit power we saw doesn't really seem to fit what Imu was doing.
The way I see it, Kaido was the strongest creature alive in the sense that he had : - the highest body toughness, naturally (i.e. even without haki coating) - the highest physical strength (power output) - extremely strong haki - incredible stamina, like a tireless beast Those traits make him indeed the strongest creature alive, in the most literal sense. Kinda like an elephant is the strongest land creature on earth, due to his physical abilities. However, with great cunning, intelligence, skill, craftsmanship, etc. A human could triumph over an elephant. The same way, Kaido being the natural strongest doesn't mean no one could actually defeat him, if they had the proper tools or strategy. But imagine if I told you right now, in a few hours, you're gonna have a 1v1 death match vs an elephant, and the only things you can use are things you can carry (let's say military-grade firearms were not allowed). You'd have to come up with an insane plan, and have great execution, to not end up dead. That's the challenge Kaido poses. You are not gonna dominate him with strength. You'll have to be exceptional in some other way, to even stand a chance. In a 1v1, always bet on the elephant. ;) But it's theoretically feasible, and people in One Piece have DFs, Haki feats, fighting techniques, that, for some, give them the ability to fight Kaido (the guys on his list). Luffy showed up in Wano, he was basically like a skinny teenager who can transform into a wrestler physique (G4). That's not enough to take on an elephant, so he got one-shot. In Udon, he buffs up his resistance a little by training under harsh conditions (sea stone collar) and he learns ryuo, which is the equivalent to getting a big, sharp nail. Next time he meets the elephant, he's a bit more resistant, more focused so he can dodge blows, and he's at least able to harm him with the nail. Especially when he transforms into the wrestler, which boosts his power. But his attacks are still too shallow. Next thing you know, he picks up a drilling hammer (ACoC), to pierce the beast even deeper. And of course, transforming into wrestler form helps with his penetrative force. Bottom line : physically speaking, he will remain the literal strongest creature til the end of the series, but doesn't mean he'll remain the hardest mofo to beat. Some could turn out to be faster, have more lethal weapons, be more tactical fighters, better martial artists, etc. P.S.: JoyBoy actually surpassed Kaido in power, so it's fair to say that Kaido is now the second strongest creature alive.
I think its the haki that was kaido's issue, he had to constantly use haki and just fight in general no breaks. Unlike his fight with Mid mom, this was serious. If he didn't act like a punching bag for most of the fight and was actually trying to win he could've defeated luffy. Even at the very end, he had an option, take the Bajrang gun, or don't. Aka win, or lose. We all know what he chose in the end.
I tend to be among the group that defends kaido because I really don't get the other side. There are some people that act like every strong character from now on will be clearly above kaido, and even seem to encurage that, almost like oda can't write a weaker antagonist to be more threatening than a stronger one (enel is probably stronger than every opponent luffy has defeated before caesar, even tho there are people who required more effort to be taken down). The worst part about this is that power creep is usually considered a form of bad writing, but here people seem to want it. In the end I don't think that kaido will be the strongest opponent luffy has ever faced (blackbeard with a third fruit and especially Imu will probably be stronger), but I don't like the idea of him being 100% left behind by power creep
Currently, I do believe Kaido is the strongest " cause of his feat" but Dragon, Imu, BB, and maybe Mihawk, I have a feeling they will surpass him. My reasons are 1 Kaido is like Kenpachi " from Bleach", 2 Due to fatigue, 3 he wanted to die, and lastly not taking a fight seriously.

Chapter 996 and 997 it was already stated kaido is the strongest pirate in the world currently. In a 1v1 he can destroy any of your favorite character.

People don't understand that when Luffy went into Gear 5 he wasnt in the best shape either. You could easily argue that the sneak Ragnarock Kaidou landed on Luffy was more damage that anything the scabbards and Supernovas did on Kaidou. Meaning, anything prior to that of Kaidou fighting a G5 Luffy didn't mean much.

In my opinion Luffy is the strongest. The only thing that would stop him from beating Kaido is the stamina constraints G5 has. This series is jeading in the direction of the ancient weapons and science because there is no longer any pirate Luffy uas to overcome with combat anymore. Shanks is more than likely right there with him though. Before Wano I believe Shanks was the only pirate that could have a shot at beating Kaido.
@SuperiorI.Q Aside from Imu, I strongly believe Luffy has a solid chance of beating anyone once he is focused. Shanks' haki seems to be his selling point. I don't believe anyone in the series can truly beat Luffy at willpower. I do currently think Shanks and Mihawk have slightly stronger conquerors, but Luffy's df prowess gives him the edge over those two. Kaido's zoan is also what I believe will allow him to defeat Shanks, despite Shanks having slightly stronger haki.
@Greg12839 I can understand why they don't. We are accustomed to Luffy being the underdog. Once he awakened G5 no pirate could beat him. As powerful as Shanks is he hasn't shown anything to prove Luffy is inferior to him. Oda made Kaido the strongest creature so that Luffy would need to surpass Shanks to bring him down. Luffy can now compete with prime Roger and in a few arcs he'll surpass him as well. Kaido's title would be meaningless if swordsmen could beat him. EOS Zoro would be mid diffing him with the way they rate Shanks against Kaido.
I'm convinced that the person slapping titles around like "Strongest Creature", "Strongest Man" or "World's Best Swordsman" is just Morgans looking to sell papers.
You are being too focused on later villains need to be stronger than previous villains concept. That is too flawed way to keep the fight interesting. That's how you end up like Dragonball going from a plant to galaxy to universe to multiverse. Same with Naruto. Madara was better villain than Kaguya. Luffy is a pirate and him enemies are also pirates who don't play by the rules. His other enemy the WG are even unfair. Even if Luffy is currently the strongest in the verse he still have many challenges to conquer. Just because he is the strongest doesn't mean he can take on all 3 admirals and a fleet admiral at once. Look at Garp at Hachinosu, he was no doubt the strongest in the island but still wasn't able to get out alive because of the numbers of his opponent. The Navy biggest strength isn't admirals or the fleet Admiral, it's their numbers. Remember when Oden was like why do we just sink them, WB said they just keep on coming it's just better to escape. The only one that could possibly be stronger than Kaido currently is Emu on a one V one aside from Luffy. Blackbeard might get stronger than him in the future arcs or he could just find a way to nurf Luffy instead since his fruit specialize in that. Either way until Luffy surpassed him he was no doubt the strongest creature alive.
It took a whole gauntlet to ultimately defeat kaido. Luffy isn’t quite on kaidos level yet because he couldn’t 1v1 kaido. But he’s gotten much closer since then as he’s more practiced with G5 and fought CP0, seraphim, Kizaru and Gorosei on egghead.
I am glad there is someone out there actually making sense because the OP fandom is so biased. After timeskip the show got flashier full of colors and people start to say oh Whitebeard could not use haki on marineford. They keep stating Kaido was always stronger than Whitebeard, he was called the strongest creature and Whitebeard only the strongest man. They forget the fact that Kaido has a devil fruit that gives him crazy endurance that 99% of the entire one piece world cant do jack about it since you would need advancent armanent and advanced conqueres to actually do real dmg to Kaido. Hence the narrator says "People Say" he is the strongest. Whitebeard old and sick fought against 100k Marines, the Marines are the strongest force in the world and they still think Whitebeard almost defeated them just with his devil fruit

Kaido’s quote to Luffy about not meeting someone who can go toe to toe with him is just an inconsistency. There’s always stuff like that throughout One Piece. Example Blackbeard doesn’t run from Garp AND Sengoku but he runs from Akainu. To make it even worse post time skip when he’s far stronger he runs from Rayleigh who’s suppose to scale below Rayleigh. Even feats wise Garp looks better than Rayleigh against Aokiji than Rayleigh does against Kizaru. The other contradiction from Kaido saying that aside from Big Mom is his interaction with Shanks who he put in his list of greats but not Big Mom. The quote from Kaido to Luffy is just meant to tell us Kaido acknowledges Luffy and is excited Kaido doesn’t get weaker from holding up Onigashima it’s just that the flames will only stay active long as he is. Same way bird cage doesn’t weaken Doflamingo and goes out when he’s done I think Luffy is stronger than Kaido but you have to count what Luffy did to Kaido before their final 1v1 because he had help to do it and got to recover a bit but. Their 1v1 starts with their 3rd fight. Kaido being noted to start slowing down after Yamato implies her attacks were effective
I say if Kaido wasn't knocked into a volcano, he would've gotten back up. Like he was so powerful that him just being knocked out like everyone else Luffy fought just won't stick
@@TheUnintelligentOne Kaido changed forms at the beginning of Wano after being hit by Luffy, his eyes even went white but he got right back up. And nothing I said was incorrect. Everyone who Luffy has defeated minus Kaido was just knocked out and stayed down. Plus, we know Kaido has some regeneration qualities, so how can you truly say that he would stay down without something like the volcano? The beast jailors got right back up when knocked down and there's no doubt that Kaido outscales their Regen.
This is my exact thought. There are going to be characters that are going to be stronger than Kaido. That's why I have Luffy over Kaido. The moment Luffy went Gear 5, Luffy was in far worse condition than Kaido. He was literally dead, while Kaido was injured. That's all that matters. I don't care if Kaido fought multiple people before or that he didn't get a break(he technically had breaks, after the Scabbards and after he threw Luffy off the rooftop). But if you add up all the damage Kaido sustained throughout the entire raid, it doesn't add up to the amount of damage that Luffy sustained throughout the raid. Not even close. Luffy got knocked out 2 times, drowned once, and was basically killed once. And when he cooled off after the initial Gear 5, Kaido pointed out that Luffy is at the end of his rope and Luffy affirms this by saying yes I was basically dead. Meanwhile, Kaido only fell to one knee, because of injuries. And still, Luffy overpowered him despite the difference in injuries. If this was a clean 1v1 fight and Luffy had G5 available from the start, he won't go into it right away. He would fight with his ACoc, lesser Gears, and then go G5 with much more stamina available than he had against Kaido in G5. And even from a narrative perspective, this fight was one where Luffys goal was to surpass Kaido. Luffy says that multiple times and Kaido doesn't devalue Luffys performance against him, because he fought multiple people before. I have Luffy over Kaido. And now characters that we haven't seen yet Shanks, Mihawk are going to surpass this. Kaido already holds Shanks on an equal level to himself(top 5) and Mihawk is at least as strong as Shanks or even stronger. Characters like Blackbeard and Fleet Admiral Akainu are extremely possible future opponents for a stronger version of Luffy that was on Onigashima. Blackbeard 100%. And then you have someone like Dragon, who Oda has been saving for the entire series, is part of the Monkey D family, and is in his prime. And then of course you have Imu.

@@SuperiorI.Q Yes, another argument they use is Kaido holding up the island, but I don't think Kaido ever implies or says that it is draining him. And in the final clash, his clouds aren't holding up the island anymore and he seemingly didn't get a boost in power. Using those clouds is probably as easy as breathing to him in Dragon form, where he has to hold his body in the air. I feel like ever since I decided to agree with the Luffy>Kaido argument, powerscaling has became so much easier and more logical.

Momonosuke with 0 experience moved the onigashima with his clouds so kaido holding the island just shows how he can multitask but it shouldn't drain his stamina much. Can you make a video about Big Mom vs Kid and Law? I will admit full stop that I am a fan of Kid and have seen a lot of people saying that Law carried and did 80% of the work. They somehow point to Shanks one tapping Kid as a piece of “evidence” as if Law wouldn’t get sliced in half completely by the same attack.
I’d argue Law did as much damage as Zoro, but still Luffy did like 95-99% of the work damage wise. I’d also argue fighting everyone except Luffy & Yamato didn’t bother him at all stamina wise as he play fought with Big Mom 3 days. The big unknown is holding up the island. That said Luffy definitely had a stamina drain too, working his way up to be strong enough to fight Kaido. So I’d think that would even out.

I don’t think kido and shanks had a serious fight if they fought wouldn’t kido have scars from the fight. Oda is a story teller first imagine if kido had scars from his fight with shank and how that would effect the fight between kido and Luffy as well as shanks vs Luffy. While I do think the two had some short of fight I don’t think it was a serious one, similar to shanks clashing with white beard.
What people need to realize is that powercreep is inevitable but kaido will still be top tier even by eos standards he has at bare minimum solidified a top 30 all time eos and likely top 20 but that is his ceiling like it or not AND he will NOT get powercreep the way katakuri got done by oda ACOC is obviously the last major power up going into final war
What i think is wrong here is how kaido was getting weaker at no point did kaido lose his ap and speed but it was implied from all those panels you went through that two things were being weakened and maybe its just me but first his endurance/stamina(haki) haki isnt just its enhanced forms but has been tolf to us to be raw strength as when luffy gets stronger and encounters bb again he refers to his power up as "haki" while he used zero haki and it is always implied that kaido is using it so throughout every fight his stamina is being drained by haki usage and his fruit powers and this brings me to point 2 because u need stamina to maintain fruit powers not only was his endurance getting weaker but his fruit and we get clear examples of this with his fruit based attacks getting weaker as kaido boro breaths luffy a bunch of times and it gets gradually weaker and ineffective and the flame clouds get weaker so even when his ap haki side increased the amp from his fruit which btw is the reason he considered big meme trash as a yonko was being gradually worn down

People just misunderstand that "strongest creature" means creature and not human which is why Whitebeard was called the strongest man alive. After Wano Kuni we already saw there are more powerful characters than him because after every Arc the enemies "usually" (not always) get stronger to progress the story and growth. Multiple times was Kaido called the strongest in the world point blank or strongest pirate in the world. Stop it. There's a reason this argument happens.
I think this is misinterpreting the whole "too shallow" quote. It doesn't mean that the prior attacks did next to no damage. It means that the damage isn't good enough to actually defeat Kaido. Kaido himself says this right before calling the Scabbards' attacks shallow. He says that he's disappointed that they're not on Oden's level and don't have what it takes to kill him.
Kaido is extremely strong, but when I realized onigashima is a raid that turned into a war, and kaido has a healing factor that constantly did its job, while luffy literally died and was using loads of energy just to keep gear 5 going. After all of that you'll start to realize that the fans either don't want to give luffy his credit or they're giving too much credit to the scabbards,kid and law, then Zoro. I believe zoro did the most damage out of all of them
Kaido as the strongest is a legend, rumor. But most importantly he is called strongest "creature" not human. To be honest Zunisha is or at least could be stronger than him, but most of One Piece world never saw him attack.
Luffy said that the more you use haki without breaks the weaker you get and when luffy said that kaidos haki is getting stronger Kaido is known for holding back in fights.
Kaido isn't strongest in verse But he is definitely strongest alive by a long shot (I'm looking at you shanks fans) He is top 5 of the verse and top 1 alive as simple as it is
Can kaido manipulate his surroundings? I think Luffy is the only zone to have done that. Zone's definitely got the short end of the stick if they can't normally do that when they awaken their devil fruits. That may have been the deciding factor. It may not be as broken as advanced conquerors haki, but it still is a powerful ability to miss out on.
I've seen a theory, I think from paravision, that a zoan can change form, a mythical zoan can change form and have a paramecia ability, and a God fruit can change form, have a paramecia ability, and have a logia ability

Kaido and his fruit allowed him to fly and use fire wind and lightning I thinks thats his mythical fruit powers . Luffy's fruit allowed him to manipulate his surroundings and himself but its the powers of his awakening I dont think Luffy can use awakened powers on base form (Plus kaido did not awakened his fruit as well)
You are completely neglecting the fact that G5 is what makes Luffy the strongest character in the series now. However, without G5 Luffy lost against Kaido multiple times where he literally would have died if not for his allies and actually did die, only to get saved by his devil fruit. Also, for some reason all the attacks Whitebeard suffered at Marineford is a huge feat, but for Kaido it doesn't matter because he has very good haki? Why didn't WB just block them? In addition to that, Haki is an insane stamina-drain. Meaning that he was not just passively not taking any damage from the attacks, but actively spent energy and resources to negate it. Luffy failed during Onigashima. Multiple times. It was a team-effort. It was not a 1v1. Kaido was the strongest before Luffy got G5
@Loki4real14 My point is that if Kaido beat Luffy 4 times and killed him prior to his strongest form. Then, kept up with his strongest form despite fatigue, even if you want to completely disregard everyone else. A 100% fresh Kaido can pack up a 100% Luffy.

The number of times Luffy was knocked out is relevant. It shows that he did not match Kaidos' output. Even after ACoC he still lost 2 more times. Only after all the events that happened to Kaido and 4 rematches was Luffy able to cheese out a win. In a 100% fresh fight, they are not even.

Kaido holding up Onigishima is treated similar to Doffy’s birdcage by fans who want to say they were heavily nerfed in their fights. While there is more evidence for Kaido’s feat actually draining him, it isn’t ever fully explained if what either of them did was actually affecting their strength like at all. Plus these two are supposed to be smart, if they would be so much stronger without their ticking clock plot gimmick active, then they should deactivate it once they start seriously getting their asses kicked.
I wouldn't say it nerfed Kaido that much, but using his power to maintain lifting an island should've made him use at least 2-5% of his power. Not to mention the stabs and slashes he got from the samurai, stalles he got from Zoro, Law, Killer, Kidd and Yamato. And the multiple rematches Luffy got after the latters recovery sessions (eating and napping).
All oda has to state is kaido is physically strongest. Then there wouldn’t be a problem with some people like shanks, WB, Akainu, mihawk could still have higher AP and speed because of Haki and Df
Kaido was not being all that serious against Zoro. Ppl seem to forget both Kaido and Big Mom were holding back a lot during their fights. The only time Kaido went all out was honestly against Luffy when he learned advanced conqueros haki. Big Mom didn't even use advanced conquerors infused with advanced armament against Kid or Law and was holding herself back despite how ppl claim she went all out when she honestly didn't.
when it comes to comparing Kaido and Luffy, Kaido definitely still has better endurance and Stamina than Luffy. That will always be insane even towards EOS im sure. But every other stat was surpassed when Luffy unlocked G5 and Advanced CoC. His Attack Power Attack Speed, Haki and DF all surpassed Kaidos at the end of the fight. I'd argue Luffy surpassed Big Mom when he got ADV CoC no need for G5. Given how she fought with Law and Kid.
When kaido says “in a while” means like nobody NEW since rocks days have damaged him like those people. I.e when he says “decades”. Big mom was there back then so she doesn’t count. Big mom vs kaido was like Roger Vs WB , hence the “3 day battle”. By the end of their fight almost no damage was done to either, just a good ole dog fight. Learn to pay attention to artist hints instead of going by what you see in animation

I want to add about something the Supernova and Scabbard fights.
Raizo hit Kaido with his own blast breath just like Luffy did when he went G5 and in both instances it harmed Kaido.
Kidd suplex Kaido, again, just as Luffy did so dmg was dealth there as well. Law and Killer also bypassed his defenses and Kaido expressly states that everyone of them was able to hurt him. With that context I believe Luffys "Too Shallow" realization wasnt him stating that they werent doing nothing but they needed more.

The argument regarding "Luffy being in a far worse condition than Kaido" is pretty weak.

Regardless, Luffy got help and multiple tries vs Kaido. I'm 100% sure that Luffy's gonna defeat Kizaru in a clear 1v1. No immediate rematches and stalls. Tbf to Kizaru, would still be high-extreme diff.
Kaidos probably the most physically strong and has the strongest physical defense which would make sense for his title, but I feel like the rest of the future antagonists will probably have more nuanced and more ability based fights rather than just beating the shit out of people. I still think Kaido's whole "in a 1v1 bet on Kaido" thing will probably stay true, but I imagine the rest of the fights are going to be more based off of devil fruit abilities over pure strength. In the case of Shanks I doubt Luffy is even going to fight him, I think its more likely they'll have a daveyback fight considering Oda added long ring long land to assumably introduce the concept for a reason. I think the best example for a character having a nuanced ability that doesn't rely on physical strength is Perona considering she couldve soloed the entire group if Usopp wasnt there.
I'll admit I'm a Kaido shill because he's really cool, but I don't know how much further the "power creep" is going to go considering we're entering the final saga and assumably Luffy won't be getting all that much stronger considering hes awakened his devil fruit and has all forms of advanced haki. I feel like most of the fights from this point on are going to force the characters to use more versatility in their moves and use their brains to defeat their opponents. Luffy and Sanji most likely will learn to control their new powers to a higher degree than what they showed in Wano. Nami will probably start using Zeus in better ways, but Zoro still has a far way to go to be able to defeat Mihawk so we'll see how he develops. I think the other crew members will probably follow the same formula as Zoro, for example Franky might get to use temporary devil fruit powers through greenblood. I might be completely wrong though, and Kaido might just become another strong character but I really doubt it. Personally I don't think Imu is going to be stronger than Kaido, but that's based purely off of the little bits we've seen of that character. I imagine the power that destroyed the island was an ancient weapon, since the devil fruit power we saw doesn't really seem to fit what Imu was doing.

The way I see it, Kaido was the strongest creature alive in the sense that he had :
- the highest body toughness, naturally (i.e. even without haki coating)
- the highest physical strength (power output)
- extremely strong haki
- incredible stamina, like a tireless beast
Those traits make him indeed the strongest creature alive, in the most literal sense.
Kinda like an elephant is the strongest land creature on earth, due to his physical abilities.
However, with great cunning, intelligence, skill, craftsmanship, etc. A human could triumph over an elephant.
The same way, Kaido being the natural strongest doesn't mean no one could actually defeat him, if they had the proper tools or strategy.
But imagine if I told you right now, in a few hours, you're gonna have a 1v1 death match vs an elephant, and the only things you can use are things you can carry (let's say military-grade firearms were not allowed).
You'd have to come up with an insane plan, and have great execution, to not end up dead.
That's the challenge Kaido poses. You are not gonna dominate him with strength. You'll have to be exceptional in some other way, to even stand a chance. In a 1v1, always bet on the elephant. ;)
But it's theoretically feasible, and people in One Piece have DFs, Haki feats, fighting techniques, that, for some, give them the ability to fight Kaido (the guys on his list).
Luffy showed up in Wano, he was basically like a skinny teenager who can transform into a wrestler physique (G4). That's not enough to take on an elephant, so he got one-shot. In Udon, he buffs up his resistance a little by training under harsh conditions (sea stone collar) and he learns ryuo, which is the equivalent to getting a big, sharp nail. Next time he meets the elephant, he's a bit more resistant, more focused so he can dodge blows, and he's at least able to harm him with the nail. Especially when he transforms into the wrestler, which boosts his power. But his attacks are still too shallow. Next thing you know, he picks up a drilling hammer (ACoC), to pierce the beast even deeper. And of course, transforming into wrestler form helps with his penetrative force.
Bottom line : physically speaking, he will remain the literal strongest creature til the end of the series, but doesn't mean he'll remain the hardest mofo to beat. Some could turn out to be faster, have more lethal weapons, be more tactical fighters, better martial artists, etc.
P.S.: JoyBoy actually surpassed Kaido in power, so it's fair to say that Kaido is now the second strongest creature alive.
I think its the haki that was kaido's issue, he had to constantly use haki and just fight in general no breaks. Unlike his fight with Mid mom, this was serious. If he didn't act like a punching bag for most of the fight and was actually trying to win he could've defeated luffy. Even at the very end, he had an option, take the Bajrang gun, or don't. Aka win, or lose. We all know what he chose in the end.

I tend to be among the group that defends kaido because I really don't get the other side. There are some people that act like every strong character from now on will be clearly above kaido, and even seem to encurage that, almost like oda can't write a weaker antagonist to be more threatening than a stronger one (enel is probably stronger than every opponent luffy has defeated before caesar, even tho there are people who required more effort to be taken down). The worst part about this is that power creep is usually considered a form of bad writing, but here people seem to want it. In the end I don't think that kaido will be the strongest opponent luffy has ever faced (blackbeard with a third fruit and especially Imu will probably be stronger), but I don't like the idea of him being 100% left behind by power creep

People don't understand that when Luffy went into Gear 5 he wasnt in the best shape either. You could easily argue that the sneak Ragnarock Kaidou landed on Luffy was more damage that anything the scabbards and Supernovas did on Kaidou. In my opinion Luffy is the strongest. The only thing that would stop him from beating Kaido is the stamina constraints G5 has. This series is jeading in the direction of the ancient weapons and science because there is no longer any pirate Luffy uas to overcome with combat anymore. Shanks is more than likely right there with him though. Before Wano I believe Shanks was the only pirate that could have a shot at beating Kaido.

@SuperiorI.Q Aside from Imu, I strongly believe Luffy has a solid chance of beating anyone once he is focused. Shanks' haki seems to be his selling point. I don't believe anyone in the series can truly beat Luffy at willpower. I do currently think Shanks and Mihawk have slightly stronger conquerors, but Luffy's df prowess gives him the edge over those two. Kaido's zoan is also what I believe will allow him to defeat Shanks, despite Shanks having slightly stronger haki.

@Greg12839 I can understand why they don't. We are accustomed to Luffy being the underdog. Once he awakened G5 no pirate could beat him. As powerful as Shanks is he hasn't shown anything to prove Luffy is inferior to him. Oda made Kaido the strongest creature so that Luffy would need to surpass Shanks to bring him down. Luffy can now compete with prime Roger and in a few arcs he'll surpass him as well. Kaido's title would be meaningless if swordsmen could beat him. EOS Zoro would be mid diffing him with the way they rate Shanks against Kaido.

I'm convinced that the person slapping titles around like "Strongest Creature", "Strongest Man" or "World's Best Swordsman" is just Morgans looking to sell papers.
You are being too focused on later villains need to be stronger than previous villains concept. That is too flawed way to keep the fight interesting. That's how you end up like Dragonball going from a plant to galaxy to universe to multiverse. Same with Naruto. Madara was better villain than Kaguya. Luffy is a pirate and him enemies are also pirates who don't play by the rules. His other enemy the WG are even unfair. Even if Luffy is currently the strongest in the verse he still have many challenges to conquer. Just because he is the strongest doesn't mean he can take on all 3 admirals and a fleet admiral at once. Look at Garp at Hachinosu, he was no doubt the strongest in the island but still wasn't able to get out alive because of the numbers of his opponent. The Navy biggest strength isn't admirals or the fleet Admiral, it's their numbers. Remember when Oden was like why do we just sink them, WB said they just keep on coming it's just better to escape. The only one that could possibly be stronger than Kaido currently is Emu on a one V one aside from Luffy. Blackbeard might get stronger than him in the future arcs or he could just find a way to nurf Luffy instead since his fruit specialize in that. Either way until Luffy surpassed him he was no doubt the strongest creature alive.
It took a whole gauntlet to ultimately defeat kaido. Luffy isn’t quite on kaidos level yet because he couldn’t 1v1 kaido. But he’s gotten much closer since then as he’s more practiced with G5 and fought CP0, seraphim, Kizaru and Gorosei on egghead.

Plus, we know Kaido has some regeneration qualities, so how can you truly say that he would stay down without something like the volcano? The beast jailors got right back up when knocked down and there's no doubt that Kaido outscales their Regen.

This is my exact thought. There are going to be characters that are going to be stronger than Kaido. That's why I have Luffy over Kaido. The moment Luffy went Gear 5, Luffy was in far worse condition than Kaido. He was literally dead, while Kaido was injured. That's all that matters. I don't care if Kaido fought multiple people before or that he didn't get a break(he technically had breaks, after the Scabbards and after he threw Luffy off the rooftop). But if you add up all the damage Kaido sustained throughout the entire raid, it doesn't add up to the amount of damage that Luffy sustained throughout the raid. Not even close. Luffy got knocked out 2 times, drowned once, and was basically killed once. And when he cooled off after the initial Gear 5, Kaido pointed out that Luffy is at the end of his rope and Luffy affirms this by saying yes I was basically dead. Meanwhile, Kaido only fell to one knee, because of injuries. And still, Luffy overpowered him despite the difference in injuries. If this was a clean 1v1 fight and Luffy had G5 available from the start, he won't go into it right away. He would fight with his ACoc, lesser Gears, and then go G5 with much more stamina available than he had against Kaido in G5. And even from a narrative perspective, this fight was one where Luffys goal was to surpass Kaido. Luffy says that multiple times and Kaido doesn't devalue Luffys performance against him, because he fought multiple people before. I have Luffy over Kaido. And now characters that we haven't seen yet Shanks, Mihawk are going to surpass this. Kaido already holds Shanks on an equal level to himself(top 5) and Mihawk is at least as strong as Shanks or even stronger. Characters like Blackbeard and Fleet Admiral Akainu are extremely possible future opponents for a stronger version of Luffy that was on Onigashima. Blackbeard 100%. And then you have someone like Dragon, who Oda has been saving for the entire series, is part of the Monkey D family, and is in his prime. And then of course you have Imu.

And in the final clash, his clouds aren't holding up the island anymore and he seemingly didn't get a boost in power. Using those clouds is probably as easy as breathing to him in Dragon form, where he has to hold his body in the air. I feel like ever since I decided to agree with the Luffy>Kaido argument, powerscaling has became so much easier and more logical.

Momonosuke with 0 experience moved the onigashima with his clouds so kaido holding the island just shows how he can multitask but it shouldn't drain his stamina much. I’d argue Law did as much damage as Zoro, but still Luffy did like 95-99% of the work damage wise.
I’d also argue fighting everyone except Luffy & Yamato didn’t bother him at all stamina wise as he play fought with Big Mom 3 days.
The big unknown is holding up the island. That said Luffy definitely had a stamina drain too, working his way up to be strong enough to fight Kaido. So I’d think that would even out.

I don’t think kido and shanks had a serious fight if they fought wouldn’t kido have scars from the fight. Oda is a story teller first imagine if kido had scars from his fight with shank and how that would effect the fight between kido and Luffy as well as shanks vs Luffy. While I do think the two had some short of fight I don’t think it was a serious one, similar to shanks clashing with white beard.

What people need to realize is that powercreep is inevitable but kaido will still be top tier even by eos standards he has at bare minimum solidified a top 30 all time eos and likely top 20 but that is his ceiling like it or not AND he will NOT get powercreep the way katakuri got done by oda ACOC is obviously the last major power up going into final war

What i think is wrong here is how kaido was getting weaker at no point did kaido lose his ap and speed but it was implied from all those panels you went through that two things were being weakened and maybe its just me but first his endurance/stamina(haki) haki isnt just its enhanced forms but has been tolf to us to be raw strength as when luffy gets stronger and encounters bb again he refers to his power up as "haki" while he used zero haki and it is always implied that kaido is using it so throughout every fight his stamina is being drained by haki usage and his fruit powers and this brings me to point 2 because u need stamina to maintain fruit powers not only was his endurance getting weaker but his fruit and we get clear examples of this with his fruit based attacks getting weaker as kaido boro breaths luffy a bunch of times and it gets gradually weaker and ineffective and the flame clouds get weaker so even when his ap haki side increased the amp from his fruit which btw is the reason he considered big meme trash as a yonko was being gradually worn down

People just misunderstand that "strongest creature" means creature and not human which is why Whitebeard was called the strongest man alive. After Wano Kuni we already saw there are more powerful characters than him because after every Arc the enemies "usually" (not always) get stronger to progress the story and growth. I think this is misinterpreting the whole "too shallow" quote. It doesn't mean that the prior attacks did next to no damage. It means that the damage isn't good enough to actually defeat Kaido. Kaido himself says this right before calling the Scabbards' attacks shallow. He says that he's disappointed that they're not on Oden's level and don't have what it takes to kill him.
Kaido is extremely strong, but when I realized onigashima is a raid that turned into a war, and kaido has a healing factor that constantly did its job, while luffy literally died and was using loads of energy just to keep gear 5 going. After all of that you'll start to realize that the fans either don't want to give luffy his credit or they're giving too much credit to the scabbards,kid and law, then Zoro. I believe zoro did the most damage out of all of them

Can kaido manipulate his surroundings? I think Luffy is the only zone to have done that. Zone's definitely got the short end of the stick if they can't normally do that when they awaken their devil fruits. That may have been the deciding factor. It may not be as broken as advanced conquerors haki, but it still is a powerful ability to miss out on.
I've seen a theory, I think from paravision, that a zoan can change form, a mythical zoan can change form and have a paramecia ability, and a God fruit can change form, have a paramecia ability, and have a logia ability

Kaido and his fruit allowed him to fly and use fire wind and lightning I thinks thats his mythical fruit powers . Luffy's fruit allowed him to manipulate his surroundings and himself but its the powers of his awakening I dont think Luffy can use awakened powers on base form (Plus kaido did not awakened his fruit as well)

You are completely neglecting the fact that G5 is what makes Luffy the strongest character in the series now. However, without G5 Luffy lost against Kaido multiple times where he literally would have died if not for his allies and actually did die, only to get saved by his devil fruit.
Also, for some reason all the attacks Whitebeard suffered at Marineford is a huge feat, but for Kaido it doesn't matter because he has very good haki? Why didn't WB just block them? In addition to that, Haki is an insane stamina-drain. Meaning that he was not just passively not taking any damage from the attacks, but actively spent energy and resources to negate it.

The number of times Luffy was knocked out is relevant. It shows that he did not match Kaidos' output. Even after ACoC he still lost 2 more times. Only after all the events that happened to Kaido and 4 rematches was Luffy able to cheese out a win. In a 100% fresh fight, they are not even.

Kaido holding up Onigishima is treated similar to Doffy’s birdcage by fans who want to say they were heavily nerfed in their fights. While there is more evidence for Kaido’s feat actually draining him, it isn’t ever fully explained if what either of them did was actually affecting their strength like at all. Plus these two are supposed to be smart, if they would be so much stronger without their ticking clock plot gimmick active, then they should deactivate it once they start seriously getting their asses kicked.

I wouldn't say it nerfed Kaido that much, but using his power to maintain lifting an island should've made him use at least 2-5% of his power. Not to mention the stabs and slashes he got from the samurai, stalles he got from Zoro, Law, Killer, Kidd and Yamato. And the multiple rematches Luffy got after the latters recovery sessions (eating and napping).
All oda has to state is kaido is physically strongest. Then there wouldn’t be a problem with some people like shanks, WB, Akainu, mihawk could still have higher AP and speed because of Haki and Df

Kaido was not being all that serious against Zoro. Ppl seem to forget both Kaido and Big Mom were holding back a lot during their fights. The only time Kaido went all out was honestly against Luffy when he learned advanced conqueros haki. Big Mom didn't even use advanced conquerors infused with advanced armament against Kid or Law and was holding herself back despite how ppl claim she went all out when she honestly didn't.

When kaido says “in a while” means like nobody NEW since rocks days have damaged him like those people. I.e when he says “decades”. Big mom was there back then so she doesn’t count. Big mom vs kaido was like Roger Vs WB , hence the “3 day battle”. By the end of their fight almost no damage was done to either, just a good ole dog fight. Learn to pay attention to artist hints instead of going by what you see in animation

No it doesn’t As you can attack someone without hitting them with ACoA and you can stack ACoC on top of Internal Destruction that’s why Luffy even in base has attack power leagues beyond any 1st commanders except MAYBE Zoro
