    Commenting during the Social Distancing Era of 2020. I'm revisiting some songs from my childhood that I could never figure out without the help of TH-cam. This video completely demystifies a guitar part that seemed impossible as a kid. My how the requirements of guitarists for Christian music have simplified in recent decades!! Thank you for the tutorial, explaining the writing process, and for coming up with a really cool lead part for a song that was a big part of my life back in the day.

    This is so cool to see! Audio A was a big influence for me when I was learning guitar (attempting) to play along with these tunes. Thank you for sharing.

    This is like a early Christmas gift...... I have played this song in church with my kids and what a blessing all your guitar riffs have been to me in my life and my kids. Thanks so very very much for all that you have done with the guitar. And thanks for the great story!! :)

    I’m so thankful for this video! I’ve wanted to learn to play this song since I first heard it in my teens…but it always seemed too difficult to figure out! Thank you for inspiring me to give it an educated crack 25+ years later 💪

    Remembering about you with this new movie on Netflix! I’m from Ecuador and was my first experience knowing Jesus (here in Ecuador those years you can’t get youth music) so my cousin came for vacations from Arizona end she introduce me Audio Adrenaline, Dc talk, news boys and jars of clay! What a days, I ask for music to replace what I use to hear! I was 12! Now I’m 43 and become a Pastor! So I get my father’s house! Thanks

    Big House changed my guitar playing. I use either my 85 Gibson Lab Series or a Marshall amp and after watching this I’m now going to have to invest in a Peavy amp. I’ve always loved your guitar playing and I’m so glad I got to meet you in the early 90’s.

      Yup, it’s the beard.
      By the way, I was a toddler when this song came out and it was my favorite as a kid. Now that I’m 30 and became a semi-pro musician, i appreciate the intricacies in the song more. Thanks for responding!

    Thanks. I thought it was a regular A chord; one finger covering the second fret on the D and G. Then the hammer on on the third and fourth fret of the A string. I'm going to save this and play along some time.

    Yay! I went looking for how to play this and nobody had decent tabs. But this beats tabs! I did figure out the intro by listening carefully (at 0.25x speed on TH-cam), but it was great to hear how you came up with it. Also, now I have a shot at learning the rest. Awesome!

      Hey Freddy, I used a Fender Stratocaster from the 90s with "lace sensor" pickups. I honestly don't remember what pickup was used. To my ears, it doesn't sound like bridge. It could be middle pickup or the combo of middle and neck. The guitar was run straight into a Peavey Classis50 412 combo. No pedals were used. I distinctly remember that the clean channel was used on the amp, but cranked up enough to get a decent amount of grit and breakup.

      Awesome! Thanks for replying. I'll try this out. I think I should've worded my question better, but I was also wondering what notes/chords you played in the intro. I'm a big fan of your work and I'm a fairly new guitar player but Audio A inspired me to be a better musician

    • @BarryBlairGuitarist
      @BarryBlairGuitarist  ปีที่แล้ว

      @B3ARCAT, it is a 1993 Nighthawk Standard. I got it new in Jan 1994 and used it on tour with dcTalk and on the Bloom album.

    Hey Barry quick question 🙋‍♂️ that I wanna ask you who’s the backing vocals for audio adrenaline only in recording studio?

    • @BarryBlairGuitarist
      @BarryBlairGuitarist  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Luke, most of the time Mark sang the background vocals in the studio. I remember a couple of parts that we all went in and sang together as a group.

    • @Songwritersbehindthecurtain
      @Songwritersbehindthecurtain 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BarryBlairGuitarist no wonder that you only do backing vocals live not in the recording studio I think jason dunn from hawk Nelson he does backing vocals only recording studio and I even didn’t knowtice that Mark Stuart does backing vocals on audio adrenaline album 💿 in my opinion now that’s awesome 😎 thank you for replying back on TH-cam I think 🤔 if you have any old footage of audio adrenaline from that day that you were on the final days with them now that would definitely be really awesome 😎 on ben Cissel channel I only saw Stephen Curtis chapmen signs of life tour that’s it.

    • @BarryBlairGuitarist
      @BarryBlairGuitarist  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kaitlyn, the Nighthawk is a bit of an oddity, and that's why I liked it so much! It isn't a particularly easy player...you kind of fight with it a bit...but I LOVED the tone and it just felt right in my hands. I was always looking for something different than what everyone else was playing. Still love it to this day, but I'm playing my strat from Iconic Guitars more these days.
