I only learned about Nothing But Thieves just over a year ago, but there's something strangely emotional about seeing them so young here after being so used to seeing them in their thirties. On the one hand they've come a very, very long way from here and I love where they are now more than wherever they've been before. On the other hand, this performance is also a gem of a snapshot of who they were in that point in time-one that is still deeply beautiful 9 years later but with a wistful fleetingness that I know will never ever come back. Never in my 20+ years as a rock fan have I descended a band's rabbit hole as keenly as I have Nothing But Thieves. At any point in their career they seem to always have a song that speaks to my psyche today. Life is hard, but there is something incredibly empowering about finding music that gives voice to it. Especially knowing that those who created it have been to hell and back to conceive this soul-stirring piece of art.
