Useful information
When the taper lever is open it cuts less hair, and the blade is at its longest cutting position. When you push the taper lever up towards the front of the clipper it's called closing the blade.
What do Clipper guards mean?
Most clipper sets provide 8 guards, and each hair clipper size represents the amount of hair that will be left when used. The larger the number, the longer the haircut.... For example, asking for a “Number 2 Haircut” means the #2 guard will be attached to the clipper to leave 1/4 inch of hair on the scalp.
The Basics Of Clippers and Clipper Guard Numbers:
The lower the guard number the shorter the hair will be, a lot of the lower numbers are used in fades.
With The Grain vs Against The Grain
With the grain (WTG) simply means in the direction your hair is trained to grow. This means cutting your hair from the crown outward. ATG is an acronym for Against the Grain. It is the exact opposite of WTG.

I started cutting my own hair years ago, after barbershops started taking call-in appointments. The last time I sat in a barber's chair was when I waited all day (literally) to get a haircut. One thing's for sure, I have saved a ton of money and I don't have to listen to all of the gossiping.

I put this right there with Jeezy and Get_Beamed taper tutorial (obviously they're barbers so their cuts are more crisp, but this brother gets his props). Great job explaining it. My number 1 issue with self cutting is lining up the curve along your sideburns. I was really looking forward to seeing you demonstrate or talk about a technique to get it even with each side. It’s a challenge for me, either it’s to curve or too high and I end up pushing back. Overall though good tips and thanks!
