- Our first day with new puppy, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Milton!
We recently found old videos of our first day with puppy Milton and it's safe to say we were completely head over heels, over the moon in love with her. She captured our hearts from the instant we saw her. It's an incredibly special moment when you get to meet a puppy for the first time, and you know she'll be yours to love forever.

These dogs will attempt to sleep on your neck. They get extremely attached to their owners, they're extremely loving.

After 15 yrs of waiting I’m finally bringing home my own ❤ so cute
I had the cutest little cavalier named Vigo. He was the happiest, cutest little dog but he had heart disease and he died two months ago... I really miss him and I swear you will never have a chance to meet more loyal dog than Cavalier.
Know how you feel. My dog Sammy died 3 weeks ago today - kidney failure ironically caused by the medication that was keeping his heart strong. Not going to be a good Christmas this year.
Love and cuddle him while you can. Should you get another dog, he/she won't be a replacement - just another receptacle for the love that would otherwise go to waste. Sadly since I now live alone I can't get another dog for many years - another reason to look forward to retirement!

We just lost ours of almost 15 years and I am showing this video to my sad little cats that he left behind. They do not know how to go on living without him and are severely depressed. They wrap their little paws around the hearts of everyone they touch.

Each time I saw the puppy sniffing on the floor, I knew what was coming LOL! That's the universal language for all puppies.

CA Haughton i mean my dog is 14 years now and he is as healthy and active as always, the only thing with my Old-timer is that he lost his hearing at age 13.5, don’t get me wrong he can hear us but not as good. I remember People telling me that King Charles have health problems but it also comes down to how you take care of your pet.
I didn't realised I made this comment 2+ years ago.
Sadly, old doggo passed on Oct 31st 2020 with acute heart failure. It was very sudden. Collapsed in the afternoon and passed away that evening in the comfort of his home.
I will miss him, but at least he didn't have to suffer very long before he went away.

Well to put it simple: CKCs tend to have heart problems, and don't quite get used to foreign environment easily when they're older. (Around 7 years and older), at least in my case.
They prefer comfort of their home, and affection when they want to.
On average they live from 8-11 years due to those heart problems.
In a way, they're just like any other dog. Give em lots of care and affection.

Is it just me or is Milton the cutest thing ever 🥰
I remember that our cavalier never got the concept of "fetch". We'd throw a ball or a stick, she'd run after it, grab it, and then keep running with it. It did turn into a game, because she'd find a spot to stop, and then we'd try to take it back and she'd "fight" to keep it, growling around it in her mouth, but she'd always let us have it, and then we'd repeat. She'd just never bring it back to us.
The other thing was that she was always egalitarian in her attention. My Dad was her favorite person. He'd go to work (my Mom worked from home) and when he came back she was always overjoyed. He also always gave her food when he was working in the kitchen and gave her peanuts every time he ate peanuts (which he did every day, because of her), but when we all sat on the floor in the kitchen, she gave us all attention equally. She'd give him two minutes, then my Mom two minutes, then me two minutes, then him two minutes, my Mom two minutes, and me two minutes, on and on, always an equal amount of attention and love.
Cavaliers are full of love, and you can't help but love them back. Ours died a few years ago. I was very sad when it happened, but I have the happy memories (and a lot of pictures and a few videos) now. I'm like the guy in the song. If I had a single wish, yeah, world peace and universal tolerance is nice and all, but I want dogs to live longer.

We’ve had 3 King Charles over the year’s and they are the most loving and affectionate breed of dogs I’ve ever experienced. I grew up with different breeds when I was younger but (in my humble opinion) the King Charles is a stunning family dog; loves children and really wants to be part of the family.

King Charles cavalier spaniel best dog ever! Had 2 my little girl passed away almost 2 years ago. And I still think about her all the time She was the best. They have a great personality and so friendly. You will never find a nicer dog. Still have my boy Cav. He's great and so loyal,. Could never imagine life without Cavs

I didn't want to get a pet dog ... I thought they just poo'd and slobbered everywhere! ... but when a puppy Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was rested on my stomach and it just fell asleep straight away, my heart melted, and then I became a dog lover. What a special and beautiful breed ... thankyou for opening my heart and my mind. That little dog will give you THE HAPPIEST YEARS OF YOUR LIFE :) ps. I hope you can teach it to Hi5, I had a lot of fun with that!

YES! That is one of the reason people adopt cavalier: they are very calm dogs (most of the time.. here this is a puppy so of course.. :) ) and VERY attached to their owners. They just want to be pet and on your lap.

My tricolored cavalier king charles spaniel Milo passed away a year ago and I miss him everyday. Had him when I was young. I go to his grave usually once a month to visit. These are the best dogs by far. Milton is beautiful ♥️

These dogs are so good with kids. We had one the kids would be pulling out of his ears and he would just bashfully shy away and the come back to play again. Such a playful dog. Never lash out. Just the best dogs with kids ever
