Others have commented, but just to clarify as a long-term bongo owner :) 1) The 'footrests' on the seats are small seats to use with the middle seat table. Push the whole seat forward, push the back towards the front of the bongo and then you can sit on them and eat a meal/have a drink from the middle table (which is the middle seat top laid flat). 2) The 'beer flap' in the roof is to allow the air pressure between the top of the roof and the bottom of the bongo to equalize when the roof is being lowered, air will come down thru it, but of course its handy for passing things thru as well, but in mehanical terms its used to allow air between the top and the bottom when the roof is closing. I really like your bongo and hope you are enjoying it, it looks a great one thats been well cared for. Mine is 27 years old and costs me money every year to keep it on the road, sometimes a little, sometimes a bit more, but its such an enjoyable van/camper, I absoutely love owning it. Hopefully I'll add some videos of it on my own channel soon as I've just got it back from the mechanic and use it for going out with my ham radio :)
BTW S isn't sport mode! It's a gear limiter, putting it in S will limit it to selecting gear 2 & 3, and L is for gears 1 & 2. Pressing the small button on the shift stick locks it onto certain gears depending if you are in D, S or L. (can't remember which, other then in D it locks it to third) useful for engine braking on steep hills going down, or for climbing up. Also useful to get yourself out of muddy fields etc
@@Waybeforethefame I just don't know why they didn't put the engine where engines usually go. Seems like it would be a pain to get to. Oh well I'll see what Josh comes up with and then probably get another Delica.
@@frankdemith3849 It's not tough to access really. You'd think it would be but you can have the centre console removed in 2 minutes (2 wingnuts) and then undo 3 clips and the seat swings backwards to give you engine access (on either side). Sounds worse than it is!
They're 8 seaters, not 7: Im almost finished converting mine into a camper. It's been a labour of love, and although I'm disabled and 70yrs old I've enjoyed every minute of it through the 3 versions I've created, and this time, at last, I'm pretty sure I've got it right
And more importantly I have seen the sell for $10,000, with a similar set up. Not always as clean as this one but I think that’s a lot of bang for buck.

Love my Bongo Friendee! I’ve had mine for like 10 months and it’s been great. With the 4WD and the tent, it’s amazing for camping.

I have a friend with a Bongo. He loves it. I think I'd rather go with the Delica or one of the older HiAces.
The hiace is too long for me and the delicas I owned a L400 it was cool, the L300 are more iconic but even slower
