For this Remy not only do you NEED to Parry, but he knows how to SEVERELY PUNISH a SINGLE mistake. Also just shows how powerful a person who is a true expert in a character can be.
A true testament to how good this game is is that Justin is still getting taught stuff by OTHER players. This Remy player made Remy look godly and Justin has seen a lot of this game already. Truly a masterpiece.
This is why I respect Justin. He’s humble enough to post his losing streaks and shows great self deprecating humor about it. He is the antidote to saltiness.
To be a real Master you have to know your and your opponents weakness. This guy plays the weakest char and stomps chun one of the strongest and the rest of the cast. What a Legend
@@notimeforcreativenamesjust3034 lol I dont disrespect him. He is my favorite in that game cause I play charge chars. But most people dont count twelve as a Character and say Remy is weakest.
Sean is weakest, followed by 12 and Q. I would put Hugo under Alex although some Alex players say in that specific matchup, Hugo has the advantage. Hugo has more bad matchups than Alex coz of his slowness and big hurtbox but the best Hugos can parry into 360s and 720s almost at will. Hugo gets outpoked a lot.
I don't think I've played against Remy more than 2 or 3 times in the entire lifespan of Third Strike. I wouldn't know what to expect if I ever did face one.
Yeah , he is nothing like guile or other charge characters. I made the mistake of playing him since 2006. I never knew he was low tier . Lol he kicks ass just takes a while .
Remy definitely gets way tougher without parrying much. But man, being able to hit super off overhead so often makes crouching anywhere near him kinda scary lol. Never realized how good his SA was at snuffing out Chun super after a boom either. Fun set to watch
It's not really his super it's that low lov has a massive cancel window that allows him to punish on reaction. Also his super is extremely easy to link off uoh not just because it's fast but the arc is very easy to space and chun specifically is really short crouching, making it even easier to react.
It was a great match, man. Shows that you are humble to accept a loss and makes you an even better representative of the FGC. Mad kudos, Justin, and much love from Argentina!.
This just proves that tier lists are good but if you like and enjoy playing a character you should invest some time. A lot of people drop chars because they are not top tier and lose the opportunity to discover things that no one else knew. Great video Justin, always loved your Chun!
You said Dagger G and I was transported back to the mid 2000s. Lol. I looked up and studied so many Dagger G and Pierrot videos back in the day trying to learn Remy.
Remy players are unlike every other charge char in SF as a whole. Truly left brain thinking player archetypes; not surprised our boy got rinsed. Valiant gameplay on both ends, these sets were mad entertaining.
Remy's kryptonite is fireball characters because he has a high/low fireball which gets cancelled either one by a regular fireball so I wonder if throwing some fireballs in there would have changed things a little in terms of where the mind games would go.
Remy definitely has lot of weaknesses, chief among them pretty bad lows. But he does also legitimately have some great stuff. He has a great throw game, good EX moves and supers, damaging corner combos and some other fun stuff. Third Strike unfortunately just happens to be particularly brutal game for his type of playstyle. Charge partitioning is one of the few things in this game that works for him rather than against him. Would be nice to see how he'd fare in another game.
As a mostly charge-based character, it’s hard for Remy to get good meterless punishes off of parries. Cr. hp can only connect into dive or flash kick under the right circumstances as I’m sure you know.
I'm surprised that he started out thinking this would be a cakewalk. Even if Remy is considered a "D" character, that's only average over all the characters. Vs Chin Li, they both are charge characters so it's down to the basic moves and super. His leg reach is way longer than hers, so he can outpoke, and he has more variety in fireballs. Also, it's not just how well he knows his character, it's how well he knows *your* Chin Li!😅
Remy's so cool. 3S is definitely a game where some MUs are just a struggle, but seeing people make their characters work because of how good at fighting games they are is incredible. 3S is like the pick up basketball of fighting games. It's addicting.
I LOVE matches like this, because it shows that just because a character is “low-tier”, that it doesn’t mean that they can’t be cracked in the right hands. It’s all about the player and how they make use of the characters tools. Dude is an amazing Remy.
Confused by the comments that say " use Chun to cook Remy" did you not just watch him get scooped ?? Dope video! Next video should be you in the lab with Remy and finding out he's not low tier at all! lol

Chun's corner headstomps can outpace Remy's flash kicks. It'd be of limited use because Dagger would obviously know to get out of the corner after the first stomp, but it's still something.

Remy is a funny case of an anti-system mechanics character because he cannot parry and charge at the same time so his defense risk-reward is bad and his offense can be parried. Also is taunt bonus buffs his stun output which doesn't work with his limited combo potential. I hope that Remy, Necro, Sean and/or Q comes back in SF6 because they all deserve a chance to shine.
I don't really understand fully what makes him low tier considering he is one of the most difficult characters I've dealt with and I've played a lot of people in the arcade that was really good with this guy and that inspired me to play with Remy and I personally hate charge characters but I like playing with this guy because he has so many different angles and he looks cool. Like a KOF character.
I think his issues are that it can be hard to use fireballs on this game specifically, and i noticed that his meter seems to charge very slowly compared to chun-li I dont play third strike so i cant say for sure, but as a spectator thats what i noticed He also looks like the kind of character who needs parries to do big damage outside of his supers (his normals dont shine that much imo), but feel free to prove me wrong, im always open to learn
