Anyone think teen comedies these days suck compared to the 90s and early 2000s?
Yup they really do!
Don't really watch teen movies nowadays since I'm not a teenager anymore but I could imagine they're pretty fuckin awful. I think the last 1 I saw was superbad and that was a long ass time ago now. Cockblockers was pretty good although I don't think that's a teen movie since the parents are the protagonists in it...
It's different for me now. I was actually a teen then. Now all that stuff just looks slightly gross (sex and stuff)
Check out the 80s teen coming of age flicks.
It remains Unbeaten by everything but “Dazed And Confused “ and I think that’s because it’s set in the 70’s early 80’s which is when I grew up.
I think we all feel nostalgia for our youth years so it’s all perspective.
Pretty much everything sucks nowadays. Especially people. Toxicity in a city everywhere
Matt Damon's second best role, after Good Will Hunting 2: Hunting Season
Applesauce, b*tch!
Matt Damons best role was in Team America
@@blackirish670 a great one, for sure, but I still think Good Will Hunting 2: Hunting Season is better
@@mikeklein1779your taste in movies is fresh dogshit lol
Yes, best role since Good Will Hunting. Never heard of a sequel
There’s a subtle but hilarious running gag through the movie as well where Scotty keeps hearing “Scotty Doesn’t Know” sung in different languages in the different countries he visits. At least once at the absinthe bar in Bratislava off the top of my head.
Eurotrip is one of my favorite underrated dumb comedies for little details like this!
Great video! 🍻
They totally did the Everybody Hates Ned Flanders song gag from The Simpsons where they hear the song in different versions everywhere they go. They did it really well and it really fits the whole trip to Europe premise.
*slap* I start my own hotel..
Probably my all time favorite teen comedy
Thanks! It’s been a while since I’ve seen the movie. Didn’t Scott’s friend also have Scotty doesn’t know as his ringtone too?
@@rnrtruestories Yeah I'm pretty sure at one point they do.
My high school band covered this song at Battle of the Bands, we submitted fake lyrics and needless to say we got disqualified, but those two minutes of my fellow classmate audience going crazy made me feel like a rockstar. Great memory.
thats a solid story
Totally worth it
That's awesome. My friends band did something similar in high school. They submitted a song called "Sexy pilots", but it was actually a cover of "sex and violence". They were disqualified as well, but they were the crowd favorite. Rock on!
i would pay money to be there
So fun - I did a school talent show with my friends way back when. I actually got tackled by the school security/police officer for running in the hall before the show. They ended up handcuffing me because I didn’t go to that school - saying I was trespassing and possibly even that I was evading arrest. Getting ready to throw the book at me…
However, we had arranged permission to be there with all the respective authorities, and were totally legit, and the band teacher came down screaming at the school police to “take those handcuffs off him, for God’s sake!”
It was two of our neighborhood friends’ school and two of us went from our school to theirs (although only I got handcuffed). But everyone saw it because it was in between classes and the hallways were full with people going to the assembly. The buzz it generated was unbelievable and then I did my best punk rock sneer and dedicated our performance to the school security or made some snarky comment thanking them for their hospitality, and everybody went crazy as we went into the intro for our song - a cover of “Beat on the Brat”by the Ramones.
Totally felt like a rock star for a couple hours. One our best school memories, lol.
I always think of this song when I see Wolverine and Jean Grey in anything.
Me too! Such a great and fitting translation!
Scotty Summers didn't know
Scotty don't know, bub
Scotty don't know
Scott don't know, bub
Scotty don't _SNIKT_ know!!!
....And he ain't findin' out!!!
🤣🤣🤣
Matt Damon, as the lead singer, is the best part of the song.
Right, he looks nothing like himself
Just so people know Matt Damon didn’t actually sing this song
@@jasoncross2645 yeah we know that
@@jasoncross2645 That's literally in the video. You commenting without watching is weird.
@@rogueprince1341 You probably know now.. because of the video.
The early 2000s was truly a magical time for entertainment and music. What a time to be a teen. 🤘🏽😂
too bad nearly everything would be 'canceled ' from that era if it came out today
Agreed. They couldn’t even remake the office today because people would get offended
Yep.. and could you imagine Strangers with Candy being on the air now? I bet Stephen Colbert would like folks to forget about that hilariously offensive show!
@@abletonreason Colbert is nothing but establishment liberal nonsense
As a 90s kid I thought the 2000s were mostly desperate, super commercial, try-hard trash. Funny how everyone thinks their generation did it best. In my opinion, good teen comedies pretty much died after Clueless.
Eurotrip is one of my favorite comedies
It is one of the best movie comedies ever made.
Eurotrip still holds up, 20 years later.
I'm nearly 45 and still watch this movie whenever it appears on any streaming service. Great memories.
A portion of that $20 million box office was mine because I saw this opening day. My expectations were not high for the movie, but when I saw Matt Damon performing that song, I was not expecting the song to have a longer lasting, more memorable legacy than the movie. I just thought it was a brilliant joke with several layers.
I was obsessed with this song, and would often randomly sing it to myself. I love that he randomly sings "I did her on his birthday", just to rub salt in the wound. Poor Scotty, though at least his heartbreak inspired a catchy song.
I think it was written into the song, not random
I love that it starts to sound like he's more into the fact that Scotty doesn't know than he is into Fiona.
I’m backpacking Europe his summer inspired by watching this movie as a kid, also I heard Matt Damon frequently has “Scotty doesn’t know” sang to him from fans in public, out of all his movies to quote. lol
His comment about that made me so happy
Eurotrip is a very underrated movie. Error....Error....Error
Oh, miscusi, miscusi
I honestly did not know the movie flopped. I saw in the theaters opening day and the theater was jam-packed
I saw it with friends and laughed all the way through it. I was surprised to hear it flopped too.
I remember being called into the living room back in the day to watch this movie. That scene was crazy, and you had to see it with all your friends. LOLOL
Very true. That excuse me guy lmao
Love this movie, song, and soundtrack. This isn't where I parked my car! 😂
Cooper is my favorite. I loved him on Whitest Kids You Know
@@marcohavokkhaos "oh here's a fun fact: YOU MADE OUT WITH YOUR SISTER, MAN!" 🤣🤣🤣
Got in trouble in High School singing this song, my teachers name was Scott and I used to sing this song at him and he got pissed and made me do push ups 😂😂
Haha nice
My old boss at Gamestop her name was Stacey and I used to sing her Stacey's Mom all the time.
Both Eurotrip and this song are absolutely legendary to me and my friend group.
One of the most underrated teen comedies.
This was one of those movies I was too young watch, but bought that PG-13 ticket and stunk in. Enjoyed the movie, nostalgia for the win.
Hahahaha my sister had the tape and I watched it while my mom was sleep in the same room... Then that beach scene😂😂😂😂..... Glad she didn't wake up yet cuz I had no idea
It was a surprising, hilarious, over-the-top comedy. The song was gold and hilarious. I had NO idea it was written for the movie...which makes way more sense. Matt Damon's cameo was gold too.
I mean, I wouldn't think so much of it, if I watched it, today, but watching Eurotrip, with three friends, at age 15, was one of the best laughs of my life.
The topic I never knew I wanted so badly!!! This is awesome!😂😂😂
I've always loved Eurotrip. It's a shame it didn't get more attention at the time.
"Eurotrip" is one of my favorite comedies. If you've been to Europe, every joke is spot on. "Scotty Doesn't Know" is the icing on the cake!
I spend a lot of time in Europe. To this day, if I bump someone on a train I say "ah, mi scusi, mi scusi" in the most cartoonish accent I can muster. You'd be shocked at how many people get the reference!
I hope you do the overly apologetic face and hand gestures to go with it lmao
Love this movie. I've had it on VHS, DVD, and Bluray. And I'm always quoting the song
LOL i totally forgot about our former PM's website getting bought and they played the song on it non-stop. Great video
Thanks
2024 ppl still listen to tgis song to.this day scotty doesnt know ! Still!
EuroTrip was FAR better than most of the movies of the time of its ilk. MUCH better than Road Trip for sure!
We just get Miami Wice on television.... Miami Wice, #1 new show!
I never knew Lustra was a real band
Yeah that's the biggest controversy
Ha! Matt Mahaffey was my neighbor in the 90’s. Last I heard he was playing with Beck.
Probably the most watched movie in my DVD library. Followed by Super Troopers and Grandma's Boy.
I'm from 91 and I never bothered to watch it. Welp, I'm downloading it right now :)
Eurotrip is one of my top 5 favorite movies
This song has been my ringtone since the movie came out.
EuroTrip > Road Trip
Why not both 🤷♂️
I'm glad Eurotrip and Roadtrip are getting some recognition
Yes both classic films
Europtrip is the best movie of all of these 2000s comedies. Great song, great movie!
It was certainly better than Roadtrip, which scored 6 times as much at the box office.
"MATTTTTTTTTTTT DAMONNNNNNNN" - Matt Damon
ROFL, Awesome video man!!!!! Enjoyed it thoroughly!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Didn’t realize that this movie was a commercial flop. I saw this at the theaters and couldn’t stop laughing. And Scott doesn’t know, was a great song!
Absolutely LOVES this song
I had such a huge crush on Michelle Trachtenberg back then; damn.
Great video thanks for sharing
I hadn't heard about Matt Mahaffey's involvement with the song, good research as always.
Thanks I’m dissapointed his version got removed online
Man I still randomly say “misscuzziiiii” when saying sorry. Classic movie.
When Euro Trip came out, I was 23 and had just graduated from college and finished my military service. My family house was all mine as my entire family had immigrated to the US, so my place was the official boys' hangout. When we played the movie and reached this song, all hell broke loose! It became our cliché reaction to every breakup story. We were so taken by the song that no one realized Matt Damon was Fiona's cheating boyfriend, and that Kristin Kreuk was Fiona herself, even though everyone was hooked on Smallville! Good times...
It's been a few years since I've watched that movie. And I have that song stuck in my head now. Thank you.
It's a hilarious movie, and after the band scene, the bondage scene is the next funniest!
Eurotrip unrated is the greatest comedy ever made. My cousin and I watch it every year or so and laugh our asses off!!!
One of the most underrated comedies
Euro Trip was kind of a big hit when I was in high school. Everybody knew Scotty Doesn't Know, everyone had the DVD. Kinda surprised the movie was a box office bomb.
I still put it on playlists.
Great content, keep up the amazing work
Thanks, will do!
Great info as always! I just saw a reaction channel do a first time viewing of Eurotrip. When the scene with the song started the reactor recognizes the song right away saying "I love this song...wait, is it from this movie?"
That song is still relevant to this day!! My daughter (12) knows it and she reports that her classmates also listen to it! I bought the DVD and Soundtrack and have it on my Spotify playlist! It is a classic!
Mi scusi, mi scusi
Still holds up.
Wow I had no idea that movie was a box office fail! I saw it in theaters with a bunch of my fellow seniors that year and it has been one of my all time favorite movies ever since
I might have to watch the movie again now because of this video.
I always loved this song. And the movie is one of my all time favorites.
Suggestion for a video (if you haven't done it, I didn't look lol) is Steven Tyler adopting a 16 year old girl in order to take her on tour back in the 70's. Pretty seedy shit, and a story that's largely forgotten. Love the channel! 🤘
Yes I need to do that story should be fun to write it do TH-cam doesn’t flag it
Scotty Doesnt Know was a fucking jam lol
late 90's early 2000s is the best era of comedy movies lol
Agreed
Fiona!….. such a fun movie. One of my favorites.
My real name is Scot, I've had Scotty Doesn't Know sang at me on several occasions and I even did a riff on it with my band Alvin Sane. Fun song.
Great video.
Eurotrip is hilarious Love that movie
Everything about this movie was fucking gold ! Never understood why it didn’t do well initially , it’s also quotable af too so many great quotes
Probably because it was released at a time with A LOT of other teen comedies. He mentioned a few but there were SO MUCH more during that time, and even sequels to movies like American Pie. I think it got lost in the shuffle.
@@jimthar17 that’s a good point and I guess too technically this was a non related sequel to the movie road trip which was semi successful and also good
This song is still in my playlist.
Same here
@@rnrtruestories it came on the other day when I had my kids in car. Had fun explaining why Scotty didn’t know that they were planning a surprise party for him🤔🤷🏻
@@bassman8144Lmao
It's not that good lol
How the hell did Eurotrip flop!!!??? Everyone I knew loved that movie when I was in middle school.
Eurotrip is friekin hilarious. And i never realized Fred Armisted is ME SCUZZI
Thank you for making this video. I had no idea the song from euro trip had this much lore around it 🤔🙃
You’re welcome
That's really cool of Lustra to take that Mikey Cyrus issue in stride.
Hey can you do a video about the band "Hot Action Cop"? Keep up the great content dude 👌
The late 90s to early 2000s were the best times in cinema history imo. There was so much variety in genres, and the quality of movies and filmmakers were imaginative. CGI had not yet completely taken over and was used as a tool instead of a canvas. The films focused on their own morality and meaning, instead of shoehorning in political agendas. You didn't have to have watched a plethora of previous movies and tv shows to completely understand what was going on in the movie, instead everything was contained in the 1 1/2 hours to 3 hours of movie that you were watching.
great take
Great take yes I find I barely watch newer movies these days.
I would love to see a sequel and have like Scotty’s kid walk by him signing the song and he just like what the hell I can’t get a way from that damn song.
Of all the early 00s teen sex comedies, this was probably the best.
I have no idea how this movie flopped it’s mind-boggling to me one of the best comedies I’ve ever seen
Dude, stop. It's not even top 10 in its genre.
Definitely on my ipod
This jogs a memory for me, thank you for posting this.
And Sid, I think it's coming up on the 5 year anniversary that you changed this channel's name from "GNR Central" to "Rock N' Roll True Stories". What made you want to change focus of the channel?
man i love your videos but.. c'mon make me a smile , please!! love
I loved that movie❤
I always forget about the movie but i never forget the song, i do forget constantly where it came from 🤣🤣
Omfg…. I haven’t heard this song is over 17 years and I still know the words! 😂
Honestly there are soooooo many pop punk songs that sound exactly like that.
My daughter grew up knowing Scotty Doesnt Know. Now we sing Mama Doesnt Know.
Haha
Well that sounds like you're cheating on your wife and your daughter is singing it lol
@@marcohavokkhaos My daughter has never seen the movie and doesnt know the context. My wife has seen it but doesnt connect it. I know it can come off like that but its just a funny thing we've done for a long time.
I would love to hear the alternate version of Scotty Doesn't Know.
An All Time Classic!
So crazy, i have absolutely no recollection of this movie but i remember the song and it being really funny.
This is a movie I can watch many times.
I never knew this movie existed. I loved Road Trip
Ah one of my favorites teen movies next Can’t Hardly Wait, Trojan Horse, and Road Trip
the guitar riff is also from "dont call me babe" by Shampo
i think its a pretty standard riff and doubt they invented it
It's a shame the movie wasn't more popular, because it's comedy was far more subtle than most of the teen comedies being pumped out by Hollywood at the time. The tune appears in various forms throughout the movie, including as a ringtone! Maybe being a Brit I could see more of the mickey-taking of the Europeans than most Americans would realise (probably why I think my big fat greek wedding is so hilarious!). Great story!
If we do get a Eurotrip sequel, it will have to be a Fanmade project if we want it to remain completely faithful to the original
I love this movie.
I remember when Eurotrip came out, my friends passed on it because of the saturation of bad "American pie" sequels and knockoffs. One evening it was on tv and we didn't have anything better to watch so we gave it A go. Till today it is still one of my favorite movies and scotty doesn't know is still my ringtone and "mail Motherf**ker" is my message tone.
The world needs to know about the Eugene originated band from the early 90's called FLOATER. Talk about an amazing career and endless good music from practically every genre out there. Sink, Glyph, Angels in the Flesh, devil's in the bone, The Great Release, Burning Sosobra, Acoustics, Alter, Wake, The Thief are some of the best albums ever up there with Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. Emerse your self in their first 3 albums. You'll see. 🤞🤞🙏
