To the perpetually offended: Imagine if you made an appointment with a stylist, and when you got there she just said you're beautiful and awesome just the way you are, and you should just wear whatever you want and not care what other people think. You'd probably be pretty annoyed, seeing as you were trying to get some specific advice, not vague Tumblr-worthy platitudes. This video is clearly for people who actually want some tips.
Also the fact remains that many, if not most, of our social behaviours are subconsciously driven by a desire to attract a partner of the (usually) opposite sex. That is due to biology and evolution, not social conditioning, and it will never change, no matter how many times people keep repeating the mantra that women wear makeup only for themselves, not for men. It's perfectly normal to want to be attractive, and it's also normal to care what others think of us, as long as it doesn't become an obsession.
Middle eastern women look absolutely stunning with eyeliner all around their beautiful almond shaped eyes! So I think with regards to make up do what suits your features and do not follow others.

1. Don't wear leggings (too see through).
2. Don't put thick eyeliner all around the top and bottom of your eyes.
3. Don't use too much make up.
4. Don't wear underwear that shows through your clothes (eg. bra straps).
5. Only get your hair color done at a good stylist.
6. Don't try too hard with new trends.
7. Don't show too much skin, balance it out.
8. Don't wear too much jewelry. Follow rule of 2.
9. Don't wear clothes that don't fit.
10. Don't buy clothes just when you need them. Curate your closet.

I cut and dye my hair myself. Turned out good 1st time. Sometimes you have to buy something at the last minute if going somewhere formal and find what you planned on isn't quite what you wanted. Hope to never be a bridesmaid again. The bride picks the worst dresses or colors.😂 Never fails. My sister picked out 200 dollar ones that fell apart by the end. Had 20 dollar ones last forever.
Lots of jewelry can work.
Trying hard with a trend can be a fun challenge even if it takes months to put it together. Took me about 6 months before Halloween costume was done. Got 3rd prize.
Have fun with clothes that are flattering. No one but yourself can determine what is best for you. Can put together something cheap that looks better than something expensive and often boring.

Geekista, No she is not judgemental. makeup is something that is different for everyone. She's just trying to tell you, you don't "have" to wear alot of makeup to look beautiful. If you love alot of makeup that's great but if you're just doing it so others think you look better, than you don't "have" to. We are all naturallly beautiful. Do it for yourself not for anyone else. I've hear alot of people( women and men) say the same things about someones bra straps showing. It doesn't look great, alot of jewelry depends on where you are going. To much skin? Sometimes. Again depends on where you're going. Everyone has their own opinion and you can do what ever you want. she's not saying you can't. She's just giving you options. I understand you don't agree but you don't have to pass judgment on others for what they agree with. No negativity just a different opinion. 😊
Tiffany, idk who you're respoding to but all Im saying is I wear make-up however I want no matter what a guy likes. I dont do my make-up thinking if a guy will like it or not. That's my issue

Hm I think the mistake #5 is very much subjective. For example I don't think your blond suits you. The blond highlights are too stripy and too cold. You would suit better a golden blonde balayage/caramel instead of what you have. But that's only my opinion

YES to leggings are not pants!
For me personally Kohl eyeliner tightlined around my eyes actually looks good, I have Mediterranean heritage and huge eyeballs, so it helps make them more "almond" shaped. But I would agree that most people should not. 😙
I see why women may disagree with some of these fashion and make-up “mistakes” she mentions. She doesn’t mean to offend, so it’s best to view it as her opinion. Sometimes I wear a lot of make-up. Sometimes I wear less. I fold my jeans under, because I’m short and don’t have money or time to get it tailored. I wear what I like and my make-up is done to my liking, not to please a man. It’s ok to disagree and it’s ok to agree. Just do what is right for you.
I honestly can’t be bothered to wear a strapless with spaghetti straps. The bra is just gonna end up on my waist anyway...

Exactly!!! there is absolutely nothing worse than a strapless bra. And there’s another video she talks about shape wear ( I do need to invest in some of this), but she mentions that some people triple layer Spanx!!! No way!!!
I get the natural beauty thing but the fact that "guys like girls with less makeup " is a point makes no sense to me... I will never dress myself to please a man or get one it will always be for me! also I love makeup on the whole so I will beat my face to the makeup Gods :-)
Sophia B and saying „guys like girls with less makeup“ is like saying „girls like boys with beards“. Yes, there are many who like it, but speaking for an entire gendergroup (especially one she doesn’t belong to) is really not cool.

Sophia B amen sister. I dress for ME. Not other women, not men. I think if you feel comfortavle in your own skin, THAT is whats atttactive. And you can only do that by being your true self and doing whatever the heck you want to feel sexy. Liberation is your friend. Screw these rules. Naomi, the comments section brings a quote to mind “ to avoid criticism, say nothing, do nothing, be nothing.” I enjoy all your videos including this one. It’s strange the way people are insulting YOU in response to the video as though you directly criticized them personally.
I’m that person that ALWAYS wears granny panties and i felt literally nothing when you mentioned it on your list because I’m just more comfortable that way. If one of these rules applies to you, and you feel good regardless, just own it 🤟🏽 instead of attacking Naomi.

I’m not really one to comment on videos, but I really think that your approach in this is a little off, as most of these are just opinion based and subjective... I literally just paused the video half way through to comment this as you’re saying, “guys like to see natural beauty too, a lot of guys really don’t like caked faces too...” I mean, I heard the first part of your video and thought, “ok, this is probably going to be pretty eloquent and humorous,” but... really? Come on, girl?
I get that this is your platform, and I applaud you for expressing your opinion, but like... that’s just an interesting way of going about saying you prefer seeing less makeup...

My husband always says he prefers me with less makeup, so would agree, men much prefer natural. And also confidence, if you stand up straight and walk in a confident manner, suddenly everything about you stands out, your clothes your hair. We've all got different ideas but the simple approach is always the best.x 😄

How do you pick one comment and dog out the entire video? People are constantly looking to impress men/women but suddenly the comments are "I do what I want"...then why are you here?? Just skip that advice and move on. I am not a size 0/2 like Naomi and I cannot wear half the stuff she wears. I love her channel. Leave the girl alone and get a makeup wipe and some skin care instead. Btw Wayne Goss is the one of the best beauty gurus on YT and he says the same thing. No one cares what guys think...get real, I have a husband and I care what he thinks.

strapless bras don't always work so well on us Busty girls ;) but great video.
I usually really like your videos but somehow I'm not feeling this one. I think there's a lot more to life than worrying about your panty line showing through jeans or hem line being a tad too long. I appreciate that you take time and effort to always look polished but you're giving out the wrong kind of message to your viewers. I think people should just feel comfortable and beautiful with what they are wearing and their confidence will shine through. Just my opinion.

To me, she gave out this vibe of being the girl that goes to a restaurant or something and look up and down at other women and judge their entire outfit like seriously even the hem of your jeans? Who got time to look at that? Most of us are busy moms,wives, employed women without time to be judging bra straps she can do so much better than this

Don't pay attention to the comments, people are so sensitive for no reason. This was a greatly done video and I agree with all of the things you brought up! I think the key lesson for me is to invest in things that are going to be more worth it in the long term rather than buy into fast fashion. I like eyeliner in the morning waterline and top tightline at night. It does make my eyes smaller but I like how mysterious they look.

I agree with your points you have stated about fashion mistakes. The problem is most individuals in this world are not true to their unique self. Also, most individuals are not comfortable with their self, and this starts with self love. When a person truly doesn’t care about what others think they will be true to self and present their self in a way that is pleasing to self. Great video, its awesome to see other women out there that display self love daily.

Jordan, I agree, I don't know why ladies did not listen to the disclaimer that she put at the beginning. We all make mistakes too and we can laugh at ourselves and improve our style. Someone should not come and post vitriol just because they are upset at her tips. I love her style, she is always elegant and classy. If someone disagrees, that is up to them, this video is not for everyone. We just have to learn to disagree respectfully, without taking offense and bashing.

I am definitely number 10.. Platos closet has been my best friend to sell everything accumulated. Sometimes what I purchased just later on becomes less appealing to me. Like why did I buy this again?
I dont know about this. Too much skin? Too much makeup? This is very subjective. I agree with the leggins and underwear showing that is universal, but please dont talk bad about peoples fashionchoices...
Madeleine Pousar yeah but some people’s fashion choices are not appropriate for the time & place. I used to pick up my daughter at school and this one mom would wear leggings that were 2 sizes too small. We could all see EVERYTHING. Her thong, her crack, her underwear that had a hold in it. It wasn’t cute and even kids would point and say I can see her butt. She was so oblivious to it because she was literally on the phone all the time talking about her life and drama.

It is subjective. These are things that SHE thinks are fashion no-nos. That pretty much goes without saying. She already said these were her opinion and not to take things personally. And what makes leggings/underwear showing/not showing universal? Nothing is universal about beauty standards. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it is inherently subjective and changes from person to person, from country to country, from year to year. If you don't want advice on a subjective topic just move on. She didn't talk shit about anyone.

I love make but I also noticed that when I wear less makeup I look so much better then when I wear makeup, so now I don’t wear much at all, just lips balms and blush is all I use now 🤗

Hola Naomi! Which strapless bra do you suggest to buy ? I went to Vistoria secret, spent $69 on a strapless bra and it was terrible. It would not stay put and it wasn't flattering. HELP!

This was a really good video Niomi. I definitely agree with all you said, and with makeup and hair it's best to look as natural as possible. I also think having a strong colour is great like red if you're going out somewhere special but for everyday, luke running errands and stuff like, wearing neutrals always looks nice, effortless, chic, understated but classy. I think it looks ok if you do a thin line on the top if you really want to do top and bottom. But ya if you do a thick line it doesnt look very good
I love you. But I agree with the post below. Not feeling the highlights. I noticed it looks better than when you first got it. Maybe you toned. But that's stripey highlights doesnt suit you. You're beautiful but the black harshness that shows through throws me off. I agree with less makeup as well. However alot of people love cakey face. Why idk.

Great videos - tips, quality of info, to the point, nice voice (many bloggers have sometimes very loud high-pitched nasal ( Shea Whitney for eg.), great smile and amazing taste. If I may recommend one thing after having seen tons of bloggers/vloggers, when you give tips as a list, maybe showing them in a list permanently on the screen would be helpful and attract more attention. I also get caught up in the moment and buy to just buy and then regret it. I alway think if I hadn't wasted my money on all this cheaper stuff I could have bought a few really great pieces a little more expensive and have them last longer. Like Express or something. That's expensive to me and they're better quality than forever 21 or somewhere like that. I could by pieces that I can make multiple outfits out of. I'm going to try to think about this the next time I go shopping. Thanks

I agree with some of the things you say, but if we all start doing the same things then we would all start looking the same and lose our individual individuality. I think the way how we dress, put on our makeup is an expression of who we are as individuals. I might not like it you might not like it but the person who is wearing it likes it and if that's what makes them happy who are we to say it's a mistake. We need to stop doing that. Just let people be themselves, express themselves however they feel like as long as they are not hurting anyone. Please don't take this the wrong way, I am not bashing you , just want you to realize that not because you don't like seeing something then it's a mistake. Just have fun with life and don't get too serious. ❤ ❤
Hi Colleen! Thank you so much for your input. Completely understand everything you're saying and where you're coming from. This video is more for just things to watch out for- like making sure your undergarments are not showing or making sure you don't draw attention to the wrong places on your body in order to enhance the right ones. Definitely don't want people to look the same, and I'm all for individual style!!
