You need to configure sandboxy in the settings before using it. Example, out of the box sandboxie only deletes files which basically leaves the files intact on your hard drive. You need to go into the settings and choose the wiping method which completely destroys the file. Also you can configure sandboxie to work with a secondary program called eraser which gives you the option to choose many different types of wiping from the United States Department of Defense or even the Russian wiping method. You can use one pass or 32 passes wiping. Personally I configured sandboxie to use a secondary program called eraser which allows me to not only completely wipe the hard drive but I can choose another file to be placed into that portion of the hard drive so that if a forensic police force should examine the hard drive and wonder why there's a section that has been recently wiped you will have reinstalled something in that area. Also you can run every trial program in the world forever inside of a sandbox.

If I go on a website and they try to install spyware in my computer it will all be contained inside the sandbox so when I close it any spyware malware or viruses will also be destroyed. I find this better than using an antivirus because sometimes the definitions that you download from your antivirus may not know some of the latest viruses. The sandbox does not need definitions from your antivirus it just destroys anything that's contained in it. Anyways it's been many years I don't use a Windows computer only Android tablets

so um, what if you downloaded a file and are already in your nonboxed environment but haven't run it yet, how do I run it without worrying about its other files since it's not an installer? let's say a game does not need installation and can just be copied/pasted?
No, you can install it in the sandbox. When you have the installation file with the .exe extention, instead of double clicking it to start the installation, you make one right click on it and select run sandboxed. This will install the program inside the sandbox environment. Whenever you want you can purge the sandbox, which will make the program installation disappear.

What happens if you run an installer with Sandboxie? It asks for an install location and you can select default or custom. I want to safely install an app so I can test it and make sure it's not going to run malicious stuff. However, will it install to my actual PC?
As long as you start the installation of the app by right clicking the installation file and selecting "Run Sanboxed", the whole installation as well as the app will run within the sandbox. To get rid of it you just purge the whole sandbox.
An anti-virus program on your host computer that provides reliable real-time protection can detect suspicious activity, however there are viruses that will check to see if they're running in a sandbox or container and will remain dormant so your anti-virus program will not detect it. It's best to err on the side of caution and if after running a virus scan on the file beforehand and you're still unsure then it's best to not run it at all.

Sandboxie will manage to encapsulate your app, but virtual machines softwares will be better for this, like Windows Sandbox, VirtualBox, VMware...
