However, when I typed "C:\Windows\System32\bcdedit /enum firmware", I got this response: "The boot configuration data store could not be opened. Access is denied." What the heck?? You know better than me that you should have started by updating the database and upgrading the system, then installing the mintupgrade and running it, but you did the opposite and that led to the error message that appeared which could have been avoided. Now, normal users with little knowledge when they watch this video will think that they will be mandatory have that error. Thank you for the video.

For my Sony Vaio i5 4gbRAM- windows 10 is installed on C drive. Have installed linux mint with additional EFI partition as suggested, however still no grub menu is available.

I would have moved the 522MiB Partition #4 to before the 24.45GiB Partition #3. That way all hidden, special, smaller partitions are at the beginning in one group and all larger friendly data partitions are together at the end of the drive. Doesn't matter for speed or anything but you'd be set up better in the future in case you need to go through all of this again getting an even larger drive. The next larger drive's unallocated space will immediately be adjacent to the friendly partition you'd want to extend to!

I have an issue with an older AMD Gigabyte computer I use to put practice loads on. When I went back in to put a flag on sda1 it did, but it takes off my boot flag off sda 5, if I put it back on 5 it removes it again off 1.

I'm dual booting with this same type setup (have been for about 6-8 months). Also using os-prober. Is there a way to default it to Windows on reboot using os-prober (or win I need to set Windows option statically in the grub.cfg, and not use os-prober)?
