just fyi this video was recorded right after euphoria was released and before everything else happened. unfortunately we've now decided to take a break from both kendrick and drake's music *for the time being* as we want to shift our focus to other artists and give ourselves time to breathe lol. i know that might be disappointing but we hope you guys can understand.
anyway, enjoy the video and have a great weekend!
you guys are great, do whatever u feels best we'll watch
The College Dropout! If you guys want to step away from rap though, the first few Artic Monkeys albums would be really fun!
did the allegations brought up contribute to it?
@@ToshJury 2 Classics right there😮💨
Flowerboy or igor plz
The fact that this is considered his 3rd best album to most people just goes to show how amazing he is.
I've seen a lot of people place it as far below as 5th tbh. It's probably 4th for me
1st for me haha. he has four 10/10s
The thing is that all four of his albums from GKMC to MMTBS are so different (sound-wise, themes, and purpose) that I can't even be mad if people pick any of the four as their favorite.
It's tied for second with TPAB for me with GKMC at 1
@user-ne1hb1ql3u it's not discredited. Some of us real Kendrick fans are just honest. It's not better than tpab or gkmc. And section 80 is better song for song. Doesn't mean we don't like this album lol. They all great
yall finally got a break from the disses 😭
bro your everywhere
Get off youtube, you´re everywhere
I thought it was just me seeing this guy everywhere, cell has been haunting my dreams
DAMN is full of Drake disses if you break down the context and the lyrics. LOYALTY for example is with Rihanna, who used to date Drake 😂
@@stratosphere2323ELEMENT is a pretty clear diss too 😂😂
PRIDE is the best late night driving song in existence.
True
90210 tough comp
@@AZMP5 👌🏼
That’s how I feel about GOD
Nothing like After Hours tho
FEEL. is one of his most underrated tracks imo the way he raps on it is insane
Realest comment ever. You are very hip
@@LAUNCHERswag it kinda blows my mind how people don't talk about that track that much
Facts
The "fuck your feelings I mean this for imposters" line delivery gives me goosebumps, shit is amazing
Omg i just put comment it being my fave. It's such a personal song
I just realized they're playing the physical version of DAMN. and not the streaming service. If you guys don't know, ex: On LOVE. It starts with Kendrick saying. "DAMN. LOVE. or LUST. DAMN. All of us." And on the physical version, it's Kid Capri in the intro, saying "We lettin' it spin, y'all, here we go!". Same with XXX. The steaming version had Kid Capri saying "New Kung Fu Kenny!". But on the physical version, it doesn't have it. And the same where Kendrick said "Alright kids, we're gon' talk about gun control", doesn't have on the physical version.
and on duckworth he says god is one funny mf instead of saying life is one funny mf
Yeah I was waiting for that part on xxx
Also on LUST after the last verse he doesnt end with "Lust" but with "drones"
I had no idea about all those differences
Yep, have both and the listen at home and the car Was a neat mini surprise.
In case no one mentioned, you should know that Kendrick Lamar won the Pulitzer Prize in music for this album. This is the first Rap album to ever win the Pulitzer. Before this the prize usually went to Jazz albums. So, in that regard he is literally on an island alone. The one and only Pulitzer Prize winner Kendrick Lamar 🎉
Since she's so interested, I'll try my best. The basis of the album, as laid by BLOOD, is the duality between wickedness & wickness. So he gets shot in the first song, however, it is never revealed that the blind lady shot him, only that their encounter -- or the crossing of their paths -- led to his death. Left with that, what a detective usually searches for is cause/motive, why. And Kendrick presents two options: wickedness, being the blind lady's fault and putrid nature; and weakness, being his fault for being kind-hearted and helping, despite aware of the cruel world around him. Theoretically, you could never attribute his death solely to wickedness or weakness (even in BLOOD, he says YOU DECIDE); being a duality, they compliment each other, none is the beginning nor the end and this is exactly why the album has another version played from back to front, where he also ends up shot. Despite his efforts, he's DAMNed to this fate, hence the title. As both of you noticed, this duality also presents itself in the conceptual relation (not necessarily of oppostion, but there's a relation for sure) of the titles of the songs. LUST & LOVE; GOD & DUCKWORTH (Kendrick himself, so God vs man); HUMBLE & PRIDE; BLOOD & DNA (it can be just me reaching, but you can draw DNA from BLOOD. By that angle, with the BLOOD splattered from his death he draws his DNA which is shown to be, well, quite chaotic, both wicked -- he openly admits it -- as weak, shown in the part where he goes back & forth with himself in DNA. Also, ELEMENT & FEEL. In both he starts with the mention of nobody praying for him because his granny's dead (a figure that's usually symbolic for a guardian angel, further proved in Mother I Sober -- a song from Mr. Morale). In ELEMENT he's cocky about it; in FEEL he's overwhelmed about it, again showing how that duality and the fate of being damned creates this mess within. Being in your element also means staying reserved, retracted to yourself and your space, the exact opposite of FEEL where feelings are all over the place. "What happens on Earth stays on Earth" is an allusion to the famous saying "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas". Obviously, Lamar gives such quote a new meaning, one related to carma, later revealed in FEAR: "what happens on Earth stays on Earth/ And I can't take these feelings with me/ So hopefully they disperse within 14 tracks/ carried out over wax/ searching for resolutions until somebody get back (...)". He can't take the feelings with him because, well, Vegas is usually just a vacation and all you did or felt there, stays there. So, whether alluding to his death (he does get shot) or not, there's a higher obligation to move on from those feelings dispersed (hopefully, he says) within 14 tracks. But then he adds "searching for resolutions (basically solutions) until somebody gets back", confirming that he's speaking from the perspective of him being dead. Somebody "getting back" is slang for "revenge". With such revenge, all the resolution he's searched or is still searching for amount to nothing; the act of revenge itself brings about the continuation of the cycle of carma that's damned him. Thus this album, DAMN, is almost a requirement for his reeincarnation (gyeah I can be reaching, but given that he's dead fuck it). To be reborn or to go wherever he's going after death, it's required of him to leave everything here, on Earth, but at the same time leaving them on Earth is just allowing the cycle to continue. Therefore, DAMN ends up being an attempt at burying his rotten carma, for his and the world's good: " (...) hopefully they disperse within fourteen tracks". I still enjoy and listen to TPAB more, but DAMN is not by any means inferior: it requires a lot more to grasp its core message:
Once you do, gold shines.
Sorry for writing so much. I also wrote karma with "c" cuz we write it like that in portuguese.
Always thought the lady was literally justice since "Lady Justice" is personnified as a blind woman, weird that I never see it mentionned
@@dadorage1695 That could be another connection. Or not. Again, DAMN’s very open to interpretation.
Mans got a phd in Kendrick Lamar studies
Typical Kendrick stan over analyzing and making up stuff Kendrick probably never even thought about lmao
@@emiliohuter9834 Yeah might be just that too
2:55 Kendrick Lamar gets shot.

"You lost... your life" 💀
I love how this album became a Christopher Nolan movie, with an ambiguous ending that would spark a lot of theories for Kendrick's fans.
That’s a fun perspective
GKMC also reminds me of Nolan to an extent with the flashbacks and storyline.
There’s this video on TH-cam explaining the album in amazing detail called “A Deep Dive Into DAMN.” You guys would HAVE to check it out to fully understand how complex this album is.
That dude cooked so hard with that video!
@@Mesfizzyhe really put his whole got in that jawn 😮💨🤓
I haven’t seen that video, but Dissect Podcast breakdowns of both DAMN and TPAB are worth listening to
crazy good video. i had heard how well made it was but that vid change my entire perspective about kendrick

My favourie K Dot album, FEAR is the best track for me
My least favourite album but FEAR is an amazing track.
Yea fear a top 5 or 7 kendrick song ever. But Damn isnt better than some of his other albums. People just think sells all the time
@@flacko_jody2130 Any Kendrick album could be someone's favorite, and they wouldn't be wrong. I personally think GKMC is his best album, but I wouldn't argue with someone who thinks TPAB is, or DAMN is, or Mr Morale is. Shoot, even Section.80 is a classic.
I can't believe ppl don't think this is his best album, this is 🔥
@MFBloosh Anybody saying Mr morale or untitled unmastered are his best albums haven't listened to Kendrick enough. Having a personal favorite is different from saying which is the best lol. Being objective isn't as hard as yall make it out to be. All the albums great.
TPAP got me into rap. and then i fell in love with Kendrick. this is definitely his most popular album.
GKMC got me invested to rap as whole. I got to listen to guys like Nas, Tupac, Eminem because I so impressed with this album
TPAB got me invested into African American music, through features, content, samples, and influences of the album I discovered Miles David, John Coltrane, George Clinton, Marvin Gaye and more guys
Eminem got me into rap but Kendrick made me love it
@@Pyxyty same lol
Listen to MF DOOM bro.
@@PyxytyI feel like I see you everywhere….. Are you a part of the LTG troll community??? Where have I seen you?
Third verse on FEAR. Is Kendricks best verse ever IMO. And also in HUMBLE Kendrick is telling himself to be more humble! Great vid guys!
While telling every other rapper in the industry to check themselves and be more humble too, along with parlaying the message to all his listeners, too. I love that he always has a good message even on a banger track that most people just take at face value.
There are two things that explain the instant likability for Kendrick. One is that everything he does is showcasing his mastery of rhythm, phrasing, silence and dynamics. It's in the music and every word/phrase he weaves into it. He forces the listener to use their own internal sense of rhythm/time, while he demonstrates how he was born with an extra-ordinary sense of rhythmic precision. We're talking about being within milliseconds of being "too early" or "too late", musically and vocally :-) Second, 50-60% of the time when he says "I", he's referring to "we" (i.e. black people)...not himself. "We" are prideful. "We" are lustful. "We" are isolated.
are "we" gonna live or die? 🙌
Feel. Such a good song. My fave on this album. I get so much goose bumps
Just got to add: xxx the most underrated kdot track ever
Her sense of awareness to the music sonically is impressive. Excellent production!
Haven't watched it yet but I'm sure DNA blew her away.
Mr. Morale gonna have Molly cryin
First time i listened to BLOOD i was taking a walk in the evening just to unwind. How he tells the story had me so entranced that I wasn't expecting that gunshot. It shook me to my core. Walked back home looking over my shoulder the whole time.
New to this channel and I just gotta say: I really appreciate how perfectly you cut the footage where the music is on beat. Just goes to show that going the extra mile doesn't go unnoticed.
i forget what a good song loyalty is
Such a banger. Honestly it’s top 2 on the album sonically for me
"Sometimes we just kinda take music for granted."
Subbed.
This album is FANTASTIC
DO MR MORALEEE
It’s crazy how Molly catches things that get referenced in songs and her husband gets surpirsed, but her husband would know so much about hip hop that he tells her then she gets surprised 😂
My heart almost skipped a beat when I saw this on my timeline 😂 this album is truly amazing, so glad you’re finally reviewing it 🎉
Been waiting for this one 🙌🏽
Pride and Fear are in my top 5 favorite Kendrick tracks
Molly is hilarious & such a light lol and I love her accent 🤌🏾
Archie has solid breakdowns of the lyrics and even taught me some things haha together you two are a dynamic duo 💪🏾 keep going & much love ❤️

I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS 🗣️🗣️

Amazing!! Thank you so much for sharing! This album was important to me
There will never again be a rapper like Kendrick.💯❤ kendrick really is a genio!!😭🐐🥶 i love my boy❤
Very underrated channel I’ve really enjoyed watching you guys for the past couple weeks
"I know that bass" on feel, Thundercat did the bass on that track and I can always tell when it's Thundercat doing bass on a track too, such a nice surprise whenever he shows up
They can finally sleep without having to react to a new diss every 5 minutes 😂
For now
ooooooo this made me happy to see after work! thanks guys :)
You guys are perfect together. It's like the persona of cool and the persona of elegance somehow met each other and decided to break down hip hop albums. What a World.
9th Wonder GOATED !!! DUCKWORTH best track on this album.
“our thots” is “our damn thots” instead😭😭
Damn. Finally.
Just graduated high school when this album came out.. best time ever. This album brings back so many memories fr

Keep going y'all. Love the content.
love how she catch some details, great reaction!!
Aside from how great the reactions are, i like the way you two talk to each other.
subbed! ya'll are a fantastic find, i enjoy the way ya'll break down each song. excited for the eventual mr.morale and the big steppers reaction! also ya'll are a lovely couple, wish nothing but success to the both of you 💪
kind words, thank you 🙏🏼
Im about halfway through your reaction and you guys are doing great as usual!
+ any mention of 9th wonder and you get a double like x
gems. so glad yall made it this far.
Drake lost as soon as he mentioned slaves and used tupac ai. Kendrick raps about those 2 things more than anything he gave kendrick more ammunition
LETSS GOOOO!! I don't even need to watch the video to already know that it's a banger. I love this album, and know that you both will have some great insight and thoughts.
the wait for mr.morale is gonna be so worth it. that album is so incredible
ABOUT TIMEEEEE
Love you guys, appreciate your uploads as always
You two are the best reaction channel on TH-cam because you get the content of this album.
I found that i like watching people hear Kendrick for the first time and having some of the same reactions to the art that i had when i first listened. It interesting to see what parts different people connect with.
More than anything, I loved the discussion between the two. Regardless if they enjoyed the music, there's a lot of input and dissection of the lyrics/music from her and he creates a lot of open room for her to express her thoughts. All the while providing context without overwhelming and enforcing his opinions/bias on each track. Found my new favorite reaction channel.
Also the editing/cuts were slick as hell. Definitely should give credit to that.
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
"Sometimes we take music for granted" - Damn, I never thought about it that way.
love seeing you guys react to Kendrick's discography, mr morale & the big steppers should definitely be on your list if it isnt 🙏🙏
Classic album.🎉
this channel is so cute I love seeing you guys reactions!
Finally, DAMN.
You guys are the best ❤
You guys are GOATs
This is my favorite album from Kendrick
Favorite reaction channel reacting to my favorite Kendrick album🎉🎉🎉
I love this entire album. Underrated somehow still
THIS IS AWESOME.
i don’t see anyone commenting it so i wanted to give what little context i know on the “ain’t nobody prayin for me” lines.
i’m just some white guy so anyone feel free to correct me, but i read that grandma’s in african american families can often be the people keeping everyone together, and praying for everyone. so when kendrick says, “bitch, all my grandmas dead, so ain’t nobody prayin for me…” he’s referring to that. if he doesn’t even have his closest family praying for him, then nobody is.
You guys are my new favorite reaction couple. Bro, you got you a solid one. You better treat babydoll right.
Babydoll?🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
LOVE.
shotout from Brazil
obrigado! 🙏🏼
You both should in you're own time react to his visuals for this album too, Kendrick expresses himself beautifully in visual arts as well. Also, when this came out years ago I still to this day hear, and figure out new things about each song. I love it here.
LETS GOOOOOO
The long awaited video
In the song Element he is talking about Drake
Yup they sampled Drake's Energy and the video plays on drakes energy video as well
Man, It had been a while since I listened to it, all tracks. And it's obviously still awesome but I now love some tracks a hell of a lot more
A hug from Brasil for you!
I can't wait for the reacción of Mr Morale and the Big stepers!!
I remember when this album dropped. A timeless classic album of all time
I love this album ❤
28:46 when he said i'll tell you later and then beat dropped was so cool and kinda cold too
You definitely have to watch the Damn deep dive video, it’s amazing.
Kendrick is my favourite artist of all time.
Kendrick the GOAT
I LOVE "LUST". That "Paul Revere" sample is so gottdamn HARD
Listen to the album in reverse and think of it as a congruent storyline and watch some of the videos on this album. There's a reason why he won the Pulitzer on this album
Section 80 is his most soulful work
You haven’t heard Bitch I’m In the Club
Art of peer pressure is my favorite cruise song
Ow and take your time but Mister morale and the big steppers is so slept on, cant wait for yalls reaction!
27:01 There was actually leak of a unreleased Kendrick Lamar song ft. Bruno Mars.
oh damn. will have to check it out!
Theirs an unreleased video that kendrick made for the track FEEL. it pretty good and gives some context to that track in particular if you guys are interested in checking out on your own time. Loving the content as usual. Keep up the good work guys! 🙏
