You guys should do a video on the new Les Paul Modern Lite! Maybe compare it to a tribute

I have a ML 59 LP, it feels very comfortable, and sounds terrific. I'v tried plenty standards over the years, felt cold, not for me, until the Murphy Lab... just feels like an old sweater - but more fun of course. Yes expensive, but compared to school fees, mortgage, cars, general cost of living, plus music is my business so this is a running cost - so yes, worth it to 'me', but perhaps not for everyone judging by some of the comments here🙂 Nice content as ever Alamo chaps, and cool selection of ES models!

I have a 59 and 64 reissue 335. They are wonderful... Seriously thinking about the 58. Chris is right The custombuckers are the best

Gibson released that unbound ‘58 ES-335 in 2016, from the Memphis factory, really high quality reissue, back then the cost less than half the present price, but they were VOS finish.

Certainly not any Gibsons. I love them, but man are they pricey.

I’ve heard the explanations before but for the life of me, I can’t understand why someone would pay mega bucks for a brand new beat up guitar. If you bring home a brand new Martin and as you take it out of the case the first time and you whack the headstock on a running ceiling fan you would be pissed. But you pay extra to have it pre-beaten up at the factory 🎸

Can't disagree with you. I suppose if you have spare megbucks, you might think differently (arguably), but I find the pricing itself is inverse to my preference. I'd pay more for light aging over heavy, and I'd pay more for NOS over light. Nitro is such a fragile finish anyway, it's going to get worn even if you really look after it.

Some guitars look dumb without aging. Strats for one are way too feminine for me to wear as a garment, until they look like a train dragged them.

It's not just about the look, they feel incredible in the hand, and sound wonderful. Try one out, and see what you think.

Ya, it's ridiculous to me, but it sells. People are very interesting. A used and beat-up guitar goes for pretty cheap, but Tom's crew gouging one with random metal and a razor gets them twice the price. Ya, consumers are very interesting indeed

because you don't gig enough to ever break them in? I know lot of people who have bought brand new Gibsons and they "play" them a lot but are never going to get a vintage vibe or broken in effect.

    Murphy Lab guitars are fantastic.
But I traded mine in today for a Collings i35 Vintage.
No offence but don't listen to the sales pitch.
    Listen with your ears.
Nobody else knows what sounds good to you.❤

Contemplating trading my i35 vintage for a 335 58 Murphy. Curious as to why you went in the direction you did

I've had both and preferred the Gibson. If you want the Gibson tone which I do the Collings doesn't deliver. Not in feel or tone.

Seems like another marketing ploy guitar manufacturers use by offering vintage re-issues and over-priced over-rated signature guitars at a premium price. What are you really getting for the money.

You guys are starting to remind me of Trogly, there is no way the average player can afford these guitars. I live in Texas and I bet you don’t sell any of these to anyone but a collector with money to burn. A player looks for a good guitar he or she can afford. Gibson and Fender will continue to price themselves out of the market. Murphy ain’t all that fellas. It’s not hard to relic any piece of wood. You are trying to sell air.

Did I hear that right? The guitars that were scratched a little more are $1,500.00 more expensive?!?!?!
Look, I will beat your guitar up for 100 dollars a piece. That’s a bargain. Contact me, all you serious guitar lovers. And you know what? For an extra 10 dollars I’ll give it a funky smell too! 👃🏻
