    The timing of the salt.... that’s gold right there. Hmmmm that must taste so good. Scoop on the rice with some sautéed spinach in that deglazed pan.. any or all of those tasty treats.

    Oh the mushrooms have a nicer flavor if you sauté some kind of onion/leek/shallot before adding. It just works magic. Follow up with a bit of Parmesan cheese for best results.

    Hello I'm just about to harvest my golden oysters from my spray and grow kit. If I don't want to cook right away, what is the preferred method to keep them fresh for a couple of days? Ziplock bag and refrigerator or freezer?

    • @NorthSpore

      For short term storage, refrigerate them in a breathable container. For long term storage, cook and freeze them or dehydrate them!

    Probably a dumb question, but kind of new to the mycology thing. I could likely harvest spores from a kit and try growing my own after harvest, right? I know it requires some know how and a sterile environment, but I’m just trying to learn as well as eat as much as possible lol.

    • @NorthSpore
      @NorthSpore  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You should skip the spores and go to tissue culture. Either plates or liquid culture are best. You can even take a piece of oyster and spread it's mycelium on an egg carton.

    • @NorthSpore

    • @NorthSpore

    How much did those mushrooms weigh? Can we expect to grow at least a pound of mushrooms with a grow kit?

    • @NorthSpore
      @NorthSpore  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello! The yield depends greatly on how much care you put into maintaining your kit! It also varies significantly based on species to species and growing environment. The species we carry are all vigorous growers and typically produce a first flush of 1/2 lb-2lbs. Most kits will produce between 2-3 flushes of mushrooms.

    • @NorthSpore

      Yes but only if you had a handful of kits and were confined with them. One kit in a kitchen, for example, with good airflow won't increase the spore load much.

  • @shadowhawk1st

    Why are there only openings on the front? Doesn't the whole substrate have spores? Why not open at least the back as well to harvest even more? Or can you?

    • @NorthSpore
      @NorthSpore  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      By opening it from multiple locations, the block doesn't focus its growth as well and loses moisture faster.
