I played the PlayChoice-10 arcade version of Super Mario Bros. 3 back in the late 1990's (1996 to 1997) at an arcade in laundry mat in Texas at that time, years after I has a NES. Felt like regular Super Mario Bros. 3 to me. It wasn't an altered version of the game, like the Nintendo's "VS." titles.
I would like to see if the Wrong warp does work in the player choice arcade version the glitch that jump strait to princess peach, however my thought it probebly does not work because it is an arcade version and arcade version would not used Rom bank switching for Writing to Rom. The NES Pal version of the NES system also don't used Rom bank switching.
Took a vacation when I was a kid (early 90's) and stopped at this random Pizza Hut off the interstate. They had 1 arcade game tucked in a corner and it was SMB 3. I had never even heard of the existence of the 3rd game. When I got back to school, no one believed me. Then The Wizard came out in theaters a couple months later and I was like, "SEE!! I TOLD YOU!!"
I was so nostalgic playing Super Mario Bros 3 when I was a 8 year old child since 2009 and I watch my all-time favorite video game movie The Wizard of Video Game (1989) there Super Mario Bros 3 on video game champion on Universal Studios in the scene.
I remember going to the mall arcade in Dallas while I was visiting my grandparents and BOOM! This was there. I was SHOCKED. Wizard had come out or been advertised so I had seen glimpses, but hadn’t seen the movie yet. No one was on it so I started up. Of course, I didn’t last long with the quarter/time play thing. God it was so exciting though.
that floating airship (8th level)with all the moles and super fast side scrolling screen is a beginners nightmare/trap. a p wing or leaf is ideal or have it mastered. saving a p wing is the best route to go.
you have some serious gaming skills man. i was highly impressed on how you took care of level 8-1 with no power ups. very nice. also on level 8-2 you can actually go down that quick sand in the very beginning. it's a huge short cut and power up area.
Player's choice Ten machine always seem to run like crap, no matter what you're running this on. I guess it's the imperfect state of these games that are emulated through MAME. You got some skills there with the one-up trick. Thanks for posting this. +1 sub.
on the 8th level when u used the frog suit on the battlship on lava...u actually can just jump in the lava and swim under the battleships the entire level until u get to the end. the frog suit makes the swimming so much easier also. it's a cool tip and trick.
It was a huge deal in 1989 because it wasn’t even released outside of Japan yet. This was the only way we could play it. So it just happens to be one of my great memories of Super Mario Bros 3.

I don't know what he is talking about this game being hard it is super easy i can beat it without loosing a single life without using warp whistles during a single playthrough.

very cool. Probably my favorite game of all time. I love the artwork on the cab. Also, nice to have the cheats available for fun

The unveiling in The Wizard was amazing, even for an SMS kid like me. Was envious until I got my launch Genesis.

As of mame 0.239, they fixed the Playchoice 10 emulation so it functions properly.
I think the music box puts the Koopa hammer bros that walk on the over world map asleep so you at can walk past them without triggering a battle.

Used to have this. I've seen it on the playchoice only once, but I never really got to play it there.
I'm playing the All-Stars version now.
You only need the two warp whistles you use the second one immediately after the first one and the warp zone and it will bring you to the wharp 8 zone
music box puts the hammer bros. to sleep on the over world map. so you can pass them without fighting them.
I am a big bowler. I would love to see you play a bowling game!

awesome.
iv never seen mario bros 3 on a arcade cab
This shows the supported games en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayChoice-10
These Playchoice 10 arcade games are fascinating to see how Nintendo still tried to keep their arcade division as relevant as possible!
Does the Playchoice 10 emulation work properly? When the time runs out and you continue the game, does it actually resume right where you left off?
I just tried it and confirmed that it does let you continue where you left off.

Playchoice has a different color pallet. People are actually gutting these machines just to mod the color chip into their NES consoles.
🙋new sub right here may i suggest you play in the hunt on the ps1 or prehistoric isle 2
Thanks. I played the arcade versions of both of those. Arcade is what I do.

Either the rom or bios needs to be updated. I just download the entire romset. Newest possible.
