Amen!!! I'm 47 and just started. I enjoy just being active, with the crew, having something to work towards, etc.

I love jiu jitsu because the mat is the only place I find happiness.

Three months in and I'm loving it. Sure I'm getting tapped regularly, but that's ok. My cardio is slowly getting better, and I'm better able to think under the pressure. BJJ is affecting all other aspects of my life. As a 48 year old I think that's awesome. I want to train more but my schedule doesn't allow it, nor does my body. Although my body does feel better while training. I don't even mind being the low man on the totem pole. What I'm enjoying most right now is learning, and lasting longer against my training partners before being submitted. I can't wait until the next class.

Doing very well. My oldest son rolled with us tonight and is starting officially Monday. Hoping it helps him, he is not the best student, angry, and still upset over his best friend who died last year to cancer. My instructor noticed him just watching tonight and talked him on the mats. I rolled with him and my instructor did as well. That makes four of us in class.

Thanks for another enlightening video. I had a talk with my son last night about where he wants to go with his Ju-Jitsu . He's thinking about stepping up his training to the next level and we talked about how this will be much more evident in his performance than it did when he played baseball, football and rugby. In a team environment you can end up not reaching your potential and being able to " slide" because others are in the spotlight or taking up the slack, BJJ puts the individual in spotlight. If you don't put in work it becomes painfully apparent.
Off topic but it took me a minute to realize the spots on your shirt were a map on the Hawaiian Islands and you didn't spill ice cream on it.
I liked the reference to Swamp People as well. I can picture you trying to shoot squirrels then getting frustrated and trying to arm bar them.

What I have found really amazing about BJJ is that while it's not a team sport, the people that practice it really bond with each other on and off the mat.

Nothing. Just dominating and submitting another man using minimal effort and with ease- basically screwing with people's heads and having a fun time. 😀 it is also funny to make opponents so mentally and physically exhausted that they give up and let you do armbars or catch them in wristlocks and then give you dirty looks.
