@@NairobiGem sis don't sleep on your own potential! If you got some old bundles & a closure laying around - even it its beat up - do a practice run & see how that comes out. The sewing machine itself is pretty easy to use once you know the basics - youtube has tons of videos for beginners & sewing machines. THE worse that can happen is you mess it up - but you can literally pull the stitching apart & try again! You got this !
Hey Shaina! Just a tip a metallic sharpie works much better for marking lines. And stretching the dome mesh cap to the nape of the neck of the dome cap and pinning it with a t pin will get rid bagginess in the cap
@Asia Davis l have the same exact head as what is being used in this video, 22-in in size, as well as using the same mesh cap being used...l also use T-pins when making wigs, but for whatever reason there is always that bagginess in the cap. l legit have no idea how to get rid of it!! No one likes any lumps & bumps. l wish people would do videos on that on preventing all those things from happening...bc like l said, l always use T-pins and everything an to have the cap fit on the cork head correctly for it to turn out right on my or the clients head. I've made my own wig on my sewing machine before but I always put the wig on the canvas block, measure the track then sew it and that took ages. This gave me the courage to make it freehand and it fits perfectly. Now my wigs will take a much shorter time to make

This was so clear and concise and had little tidbits of info that filled in gaps for me that I’ve been struggling with for months. Thank you!!!
Hey, you can use tailor's chalk that you can get at the fabric or craft store to mark your lines. They last so long and you can get them in a variety of colors!

This video is amazing. Such great pointers and views. My issue is the sewing machine doesnt feed the bundles through on the other end. I have to Pull it through and it messes me up and causes my thread to go crazy because I forget to. I have the Simple sewing machine. Any pointers?
@tailormadejane I know you mentioned not to pull the cap. But here is my concern. Would it still fit the head without stretching it? Since the line was done with the cap stretched on the manikin and when you take it off it shrinks back to its original size. Also sewing on the elastic part of the cap, would the cap still stretch?

Beautiful the only thing I would have done differently is define the part by pinning a string from the back of the closure to the front of the dome past the closure then spray black spray on it and put makeup thu the part

Ok omg I got EVERYTHING DOWN TO THE TEE HOWEVER! I can’t seem to get the spacing between tracks correct!! I wasn’t only able to get Max 2& a half bundles I need to get 4 bundles on there. What do you suggest???
I hope this is not a dumb question but how do you know if the wig will fit? I normally see my wigs on a canvas block head that is blocked to my measurements! So how do you make sure it fits when making on a sewing machine?

not sure if i missed this but, do you just dbl the wefts in the back and single the them at the top so that its flat? or do you just dbl the wefts all the way ?
I know when you back Stitch it locks it in but I saw you cut the weft. Does that cause shedding. Are is that why you sewed the tracks together. Basically does it shed?
When sewing on elastic bands for any kind of garment or in this case a wig, the zigzag stitch is what allows you to keep the stretch (imagine an accordion). If u were to use a straight stitch, as soon a you tried to stretch it the thread would snap.

When sewing down the tracks do you cut after each line or do you flip the track?

Get an even feed foot. It works wonders for this

Since you sew on the band will it make the wig not flex properly? Great video by the way. Thank you..
Thanks for asking. I had the same question. I know when you sew through the band usually, it loses that stretch.
No it won’t Lose its elasticity
