Been waiting for you to finally get around to building this one. Mine was one of the first kits I built after returning to the hobby after 35+ years, and the first kit I lit. You're in for a long haul, but it's a really fun kit.
Lou Dalmaso (Aztec Dummy) did a full build and lighting of this kit and I believe he lit the bunk area, so I would suggest giving his videos a watch. Great looking model but far too expensive for my wallet in the UK. I look forward to seeing your finished build.
A Cat called Marvin shows up when talking about a Mars lander. I call shenanigans, that was staged ; ). Looks like a great model can't wait to see it finished.
Gorgeous kit. At ~$300+ I'm not sure it's something I will buy, but it's super interesting and from what I can see well detailed. I know how you hate LED's, but I'm really interested to see what you come up with. Tip: Pick up a bottle of "Micro LiquiTape" from Microscale. It's awesome for mocking up a kit. It holds well, allows you to take the kit apart many times and cleans up/off with water. For me it's a must have tool. It has many other uses as well, for example you can use it to attach canopy's and still be able to remove them to see into cockpits. It holds very well. I also use it to make pick-up sticks or sticks for holding small parts for airbrushing/painting.
Yaaaay! Finally! I have been waiting for this since you did an unboxing, and seriously, your build vlogs on all the different vehicles and stuff are the best. Edit: watching this again, and came to think about a couple of things: First of all, if you don't want to put lights directly in the console, how about adding some beneath it, using LED strips? That would take care of quite a few problems - you can di them properly so they won't be too strong, you probably won't have to worry about hiding the strips, unless you can actuaolly get a side view, and finally, light from below is pretty cool... Another tihing, regarding the missing space suit: How about making a cast of the suit you actually have and then modify it to look empty and in place? I think that might be the easiest way to do it to be honest, because yeah, another suit is needed, especially since one figure is apparently still inside the ship.
I have waited for this one! I have wanted to get one of Randy Cooper's models for some time but have to work through more of my backlog before I do so.
Fiber Optic is the way to go. It allows you to vastly reduce the number of LED's required and more importantly you can get Fiber Optic in many different sizes from .25mm all the way up to 3mm ready to ship from the Fiber Optic Store. I have a kit showcased on their site (Fine Molds Tie Interceptor). They also have different types of fiber optic cable from clear to opaque. Other tips. If you don't plan to animate your lights you can get away with just one or two White LED's. To create various colored lights you simply paint the ends of the fiber optic cables the desired color with transparent paint. It helps to make a "light" box as well so that your Fibers are lit appropriately. You can vary the strength of the lighting as well with a light box by putting LED's to one side of the box. The close the fiber optic cable is to the light source the brighter it will be. The further away the dimmer. Hope these tips help someone.
A bit too small for this scale. Could possibly use them on the control panels, but they are all square buttons and not round. Got something else in mind, anyway.

Doctor Faust's Painting Clinic.the most important thing that you have to keep in mind is that if you work in series in stead of parallel,is that if one led fails all the other LED's will also fail because the power chain is interrupted!by example: if one of the LED's in the spacesuit cabinet fails, will the other one also stop working! By preference work always in parallel! Great build and good luck!
I still think it should be a warm white LED on the beds. Having bright blue lights would be horrifyingly eyesearing in the night. Other than, it's an amazing kit, this thing is going to be wild when its done.
If you want some masking for this models talk to Lou Dalmaso, He is on TH-cam. He build this monster a while back. I going to have fun watch you build this monster.

I really like the colors of the interior so far. Looks good

Excellent video!
glad to see another large build happening. Hopefully going to start one myself soon after your videos have filled so many hours of content.
Looking great.

Really enjoying this build and your videos.

Oh and by the way I really like your desk setup. Looks very organized

Holy Crap, been waiting for this.
Awesome.
I have started using the larger surface mount LEDs, much easier to work into the model.
I've been watching you for awhile now, and Marvin really takes the videos to the next level.
But, I like cats, so.. ;-)
Based on the scale of the kit, my guess would be that those circles are hatched or panels of some kind, or perhaps docking ports.
I say they lead to the kitchen and the bathroom. Otherwise it's going to be a short and nasty hop.
one step at a time... amazing model but boy is it intimidating! Looking forward to the next videos.

whats the power source to light all those lights, cant be all batteries? HELP and whats the voltage thanks
One thing I'd consider is fiber optic lights instead of LEDs. They make pretty small light sources if nothing else.
A bit too small for this scale. Could possibly use them on the control panels, but they are all square buttons and not round. Got something else in mind, anyway.
killroy v2 That's the route I personally would have taken myself. Whatever works for each individual though. Either way this is awesome.

You have the LEDs in a series, not parallel.
See? Knew I'd get something wrong.

Your explanation about the voltage drops was correct, though.
Really a bit out of my price range TBH but after watching your build series got one on order (just won't tell the missus how much it is).
I feel overwhelmed and I'm not even working on this! 😖
good kitty
Cat: Let me just up the value of your video!
check out Aztec Dummy Lou Dalmaso, he did a build a while back, lighting and all. Following along with your build. Jase
whats the power supply, asking again
