Well it's time for the BRICS- New World Order to come up with a default reserve currency or simply go back to gold as the reserve. It will be too chaotic for each country to trade in their respective currencies with the daily change in exchange rates.

All big corps are just a cohort of centralized system working together, and any damage to one can have a dangerous ripple effect on every other one. I learned a long time ago to not trust corporations. Most of my money is in the stock market and my businesses. I keep only what I need to spend in my checking account.

I think what Europe should attempt, is cooperative trade agreements with the American economies and the BRICS countries economically, But, we should also consider gold (+ other PM's and resources) backed measures, for all international trade. The dollar's extreme debt levels are a huge problem, so it is not suited to continue as the world's "reserve currency". The Euro is a purely political construction, so it's already a problem for EU, as we have widely different economies within the union. Instead currencies should be mainly for internal , and maybe bilateral, use. Energy, precious metals and other resources and productivity, should be backing international settlements, substantially, but the payments could potentially use a suitable cryptocurrency as a formal structure. The most important thing is to separate the political situation and a smoothly functioning exchange of goods, services, information and labour.
The reasons for avoiding politically controlled ways of dealing, should be obvious after what we have seen with the treatment of Russian economic interests after the calamities in Ukraine became acutely palpable, and the way the governments of the western countries have damaged European economies in an unprecedented way.

It's not the US "putting a tariff" that is the concern. Some specific and hyper focused tariff to protect a critical local industry is one thing. It is that Trump does not understand economics or how tariff's work and so he wants blanket tariff's on everything which is not strategic, nor is it sound economic decision-making as any decent economist will tell you. It's just by their very nature going to mean that everything gets more expensive.
So there is a difference which is why normal American politicians didn't get emotional that people don't buy American made bendy straws anymore, and instead only buy stupid things like American made fighter jets, or Abrams tanks, or helicopters, or other significantly more advanced manufactured products.

      @AsunaYuukiSAO3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Consequences if Global Use of the Dollar Declines:
      Economic Impacts:
Reduced Dollar Demand: The U.S. benefits from the dollar's status as the world's primary reserve currency. This status allows the U.S. to borrow at lower interest rates and print currency to finance debt without immediate inflationary pressure. If the dollar lost this status, borrowing costs would rise, potentially leading to higher interest rates and inflation.
Trade Deficit Consequences: The U.S. runs a significant trade deficit, which is easier to sustain when global demand for dollars remains high. A decrease in this demand would force the U.S. to correct this deficit through a mix of reduced imports, increased exports, or economic adjustments.
      Financial Markets:
Global Investment Shifts: A decline in demand for U.S. dollars could impact investments in U.S. Treasury bonds and other financial instruments, destabilizing financial markets and possibly leading to a weakened dollar.
Loss of Economic Leverage: The U.S. would have less global financial influence. Countries diversifying away from the dollar could make it harder for the U.S. to enforce economic sanctions and exercise geopolitical power.

This is not even a remotely contentious topic. Western financial institutions are the most stable in the world. Most importantly, they act independently of their respective government. That is also why Western countries have some of the best credit ratings in the world. Countries want into the BRICS because there are no obligations and no requirements to join. There is not even an official BRICS charter. Countries are joining BRICS for the same reason countries are joining the British Commonwealth, because there are no real disadvantages. At worst, you get another forum to discuss trade, etc. BRICS is not an anti-Western alliance, as people seem to believe. All BRICS countries except for Russia trade more with the West than they do with each other. Russia is really the only BRICS country that is openly hostile to the West.

BRICS Plus is a system to counter the existing Western Hegemony; by a union of countries who have suffered Western subjugations, colonialism, neocolonialism, exploitations, pillages, and plunders, in the last 200 years, to this very day.

For the past 70 to 80 years, only market economics has existed between the EU and the USA (the biggest allies). And everyone in the both sides of Atlantic buys better quality products at the appropriate price. So the USA does not really produce as many good products as the EU does. Americans freely choose Mercedes, BMW, Champagne, Cognac, Dior, Dutch Cheese, ASML Semiconductors Tech and so on. Even the former leader, Boeing, lost the quality and safety battle against Airbus. If we talk about Coca Cola or Apple products (iPhones and MacBook Pro), Europeans have absolutely no issue - we like it and buy continuously.

Europe has nothing to worry about if tariffs are imposed on their products. All it means is that American citizens in their cost of living crisis will not be able to afford European products. And those that can pay the government more for the purchase. Europe just has to find other markets.
In any case, European products sold to the US are paid for with a worthless currency. The intrinsic value of the dollar is assumed by governments in good faith, but this faith has been eroded since 1971 when American capitalism died.
Europeans work hard and expect their governments to provide them the essential services they have become accustomed to. But when you trade a good for a worthless piece paper given to you by a government who just prints more when they run out, is ludicrous. The American national debt, paid for by the EU and Japan is now $13.7 trillion, with a 2.8% GDP growth rate. This sluggish American economy can never pay its own way out of debt and the Europeans and Japanese have their own economic difficulties and are unable to pay American national debt anymore.
The issue about BRICS is still yet undefined, it appears to establish a free trade block with signed up countries aligned with the UN. But was established by an American investment bank, Goldman Sachs. This investment bank saw the writing on the wall for the American economy decades earlier. Realising investment would be difficult in the US when it economy collapses, started a coalition of like minded countries who wanted change. But it’s still capitalism, the root cause of all broken G7 economies. These democratically elected governments are paid for by capitalists, we just elect whose they pay to represent us, sorry I meant them.
You can’t trust your government or the lies capitalism asks us to swallow.
