In my efforts to understand the emergence of Donald Trump as a political phenomenon in the United States, I have come to the conclusion that Trump is the Avatar of the United States. One of Trump’s traits, which is also a strong American trait, is the belief that if they lose a contest, it can only be because the other side cheated. I remember that attitude coming out when they discovered that the Japanese were building better cars than American automakers.
The flip side is that they always think they win because they are the better player, not that they have crappy opponents. Washington DC didn’t inherit the imperial throne after WWII because they were more competent, but because they were literally the last one standing, protected by geography, not superior skill. The same with the Cold War with the Soviet Union. The US prevailed not from any better strategy, but from the USSR's own dysfunction. The US had zero expectations of their collapse and wasted a decade on neoliberal crisis management that played a large role in the rise of Putin. The US spent over four decades challenging the Soviets, yet was clueless when the Berlin Wall came down, because all they know is war. Peace is never positive according to their mindset; it merely a ceasefire until the next round.
It is funny how the US now has a hard time playing the capitalist economy game. I guess that by US standards the game is considered fair as long as the US wins. We are witnessing an Empire declining ; an Empire that, in historical terms, will not have lasted that long. It will take some time but it's fading. Trump election is in many ways a sign of decline.
Then y'all wonder Los Angeles in California is now called HOMELESSVILLE, with millions of homeless tents scattered all over the place, and is now rapidly spreading into neighboring Santa Monica, Beverley Hills and Malibu Beach as well. Anyone that arrives by plane into LAX will immediately see the homeless tents on West Century Blvd near the LA Airport Hilton hotel as well. What an embarrassment to the USA as well, and it needs to be cleaned-up as well.
Completely false re the charging time (solid state batteries are not here yet and the US is well ahead there) Their vehicles are state subsidized to a huge extent, which is why the world is imposing tarrifs!

The US economy, through "hedonic replacement" under measure of inflation is dramatically overstating its growth While China is doing the opposite. Every year the same price gets you a better phone, more features in your car, more energy efficient fridge. "Deflation" in China is driven by absolutely massive falls in energy prices and supply chain efficiencies. The gini coefficient measuring inequality is actually falling. So a middle class Chinese person is growing their income far faster than the headline GDP numbers _and_ that income buys higher quality things. The exact opposite is true in the US.

Purchasing power is something to look into, not just for consumers, but also producers and institutions who are purchasing physical goods and services. The circular economy as it is.

One thing I think is very important but rarely spoken about is the extraordinary education system in China, from the youngest all the way up. In USA is worse than I could have ever imagined. Also the morals.
It’s great with STEM education, but that education system is also flawed in that it does not cater for the needs of those who are not good at STEM. It’s also pushing everyone to get high test scores instead of pursuing their own interest and encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation. The latter is what the US is still better at, partly because the US is able to attract the best talents from around the world.
We just have to admire Prof Sachs for being such an honest person. He symbolizes the BEST OF THE WEST. Yes. Unlike Japan though, China has the means to avoid what it could not, which is the threat of economic sanctions. If the US decides to impose sanctions, China has its own system to conduct transactions.
@@Sonyhamster Notice the people in Japan know nothing about the true history of what really happened with Japan in WW2 and what Japan did to China in the 1930s and 1940s, their government alters the true history to hide Japan's guilt and to glorify U5A, maybe under the order from U5A to keep Japanese people devoted to their government who is being paid by U5A to keep quiet and obedient to follow orders from U5A.

Agreed. She's been interrupting Professor Sachs before he could finish off his explanations. Also she should make her questions briefer without loss of the points she wants to raise. Does not give me any pleasure pointing this out as I consider her to be very good and articulate in English for a Chinese journalist.
Why is that a bad thing? China is doing the right thing investing in innovation, infrastructure, and it's most important resource...real people. We should learn by example.

Great effort to educate the people of America and of the world on what really goes on in China. When compared to my other sources, Professor Sachs's take on the Chinese economic phenomenon is accurate, factual, and because of the solid. Liu Xin is an excellent interviewer who without leading Sachs or an agenda, asks pertinent questions for him to address. We no longer have this kind of media worker in America.
Notably, China's foreign trade is increasingly characterized by a shift toward being "green," "intelligent," and "innovative." Supported by a comprehensive manufacturing system, China not only efficiently and cost-effectively meets the diverse needs of global markets but also enhances production efficiency and product quality through intelligent manufacturing and digital transformation. This technology-driven upgrade has enabled "Made in China" products to shed the label of "cheap," achieving a balance between quality and affordability that improves its competitiveness in international markets.
Urgent: Our nation, the USA, is in danger. Let’s not ignore the truth anymore. I am speaking on behalf of millions of American-born heroes, whose ancestors were Africans, Arabs, Asians, Hispanics, and even white Americans in some cases. These are the voices of a world where the USA wages war on every country to halt their progress. A true leader leads by example, not through violence. My family, like countless others, carries the deep scars of war. I never got to meet most of my relatives or grandparents-lives torn apart by violence I had no part in. We’re doctors, scientists, veterans, lawyers, and professionals, yet we’re told to “go back home,” even though the USA is the only country we’ve ever known as home. How many more families must suffer? How many more children will grow up without a home, a history, or a future? Will Israel continue dismantling nations, creating refugees, and leaving destruction in its wake? The result: Netanyahu gaining unchecked power, turning even America into a nation controlled by dictatorship. In a few decades, the USA will be a minority-majority nation, with over 60% being minorities. Who will lead then? Leaders in Congress are already bought and paid for by AIPAC, serving Israeli interests instead of American priorities. Our nation is being sold piece by piece, and our future is being destroyed by wars that only benefit foreign powers. This endless cycle of war, destruction, and hate must end. We cannot build a future on fear and division. America’s survival depends on peace, truth, and unity-not on the devastation of innocent lives. Thank you for sharing this raw and necessary truth in your video.
China gets a lot of bad press in the West. It’s just jealousy in my opinion. I lived in China for a few years and was very impressed with their development and work ethics. China's main issues: 1. Demographics are pretty bad thanks to urbanization and one child policy; 2. High total debt as a percentage of GDP. 3. One political party system: hard to be flexible, hard to provide alternative opinions, untruthful information regarding their economy, disappearing high ranking politicians and businessmen, etc. 4. Confrontation with the USA. 5. Not low labor cost producer any more. But they're still huge and will remain huge for a while.

The problem the US always had: it compares other economies function in accordance to how its economy functioned and expects anyone who does not do the same as them to collapse. On one hand it is arrogance, after allt he USSR fell and had a different means of economic organization (though the reason was far more complicated, went back decades of bad leadership down to stalin with no deng equivelant, and geopolitical factors) and the other hand is fear, the Us is terrified of any alternative economic system of having any success to their model as it threatens it's shift to a second global gilded age. It's doing with with the EU (despite having a similar system but has public functions, something the US cannot tolerate because it does not want its people to point at the EU and ask why they can't have healthcare and higher education) and it's even more terrified by china that has a system where the political system is above the economic system. Any system, regardless of how good or flawed it is, that puts billionaires below anything terrifies it. And that can explain every single move of the US, from it's coup in chile against alliente, to the proxy wars, to the monroe doctrine, etc. And keep in mind, this is not an endorsement of china, it has a long way to go to, especially in terms of internal policy, but the future is always in flux. I cannot predict a betterment or worsening, because, multiple internal and external factors will be at play to cause said move. Thus I keep my analysis to the one thing I can believe in: do not jusdge one system byt he metrics of another.

The US's hegemony over China, not just China but western hegemony over the rest of the world it's absolutely disgusting and need to be stopped. World need to work together, helping eachother to develop a much fairer and healthier economy, not dominant continuously by imperialism of the west, suppress the rest. World is changing, our planet is sick by humanity's greed, and everyone else is suffering, that's not good, learn to share, preserve and cherish so we can go further, destruction seems the only thing we are doing so well right now, it's pathetic and sad...
Sachs was part of the team behind "shock therapy" in Russia that failed spectacularly. And after that he's been telling how it's everyone else that failed, not him.
And yet it is China that is constant conflict with its neighbors, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, Australia, Philipines and India while USA is friends with all of them. China allies seem to be Russia and Iran? You are known by the friends you keep.
Its not a misunderstanding, its a 'hope' a 'wish' , fuelled by pure racist jealousy.

Trump won't be able to pursue his big threat for long because the Americans will have to suffer the most and Trump will be impeached

Except for the Ford F150 which has outsold everything on the planet.
Chinese latest EVs go 500 miles on one charge, charge in 5 minutes, and cost 50% that of an equivalent Tesla. WOW 😮
lol …
Completely false re the charging time (solid state batteries are not here yet and the US is well ahead there) Their vehicles are state subsidized to a huge extent, which is why the world is imposing tarrifs!
@@michaelgarty3812 If I am wrong about charging time, what is the charging time?
because of pending tariffs, China is no longer exporting rare earths to the US, rare earths are used in many US industries. China produces 60% of the world supply of lithium batteries. Hawaii phones have better security than IPhone.
US tariffs on China will hurt US more than China. Trump should get China to setup factories in the US, I think. China accepts for payments newly printed dollars. what’s the problem? Send money to China instead of Ukraine and Israel, for 4200 years, China has never tried to run other countries, they like to keep to themselves

The US economy, through "hedonic replacement" under measure of inflation is dramatically overstating its growth
While China is doing the opposite.
God bless, the United States of America 🇺🇸 lot of opposition coming on a US social media platform nowadays this his going to come to an end that's for sure. Don't come with that freedom of speech stuff. You aren't American that's not our problem.
Deflation means you can't make anything for a profit unless you export it.
Purchasing power is something to look into, not just for consumers, but also producers and institutions who are purchasing physical goods and services.
The circular economy as it is.
@thisiskevin1000 Indeed. When producers buy raw materials and components to make thinks having deflation means the price they can charge has in effect gone done and could be less than the cost of manufacture
Belt & Road is smart because regardless of intent or outcome you can’t claim it’s just aid to the rich of a poor country. The poor take trains, use roads and etc. When West gives aid it typically goes to rulers or rich of a poor country. China just needs to expand its own middle class
One thing I think is very important but rarely spoken about is the extraordinary education system in China, from the youngest all the way up. In USA is worse than I could have ever imagined. Also the morals.
That sounds exactly like someone who has been poisoned by propaganda and lives in an echo chamber would say

For 50 years we have been complaining about the quality of the air in our cities and about pollution, the Chinese seem to have a viable solution for the electric car. But here we are, we would rather continue to pollute than fatten the Chinese economy.

China's main issues:
1. Demographics are pretty bad thanks to urbanization and one child policy;
2. High total debt as a percentage of GDP.
3. One political party system: hard to be flexible, hard to provide alternative opinions, untruthful information regarding their economy, disappearing high ranking politicians and businessmen, etc.

Western countries are very charitable, they like to help other people and countries in needs.. Let's create a me funding account for China's economy because Western media great for charity as well.
