The ultimate Stephen King adaptations segment was in Cat's Eye. The feline you seem being chased by Cujo Andre almost be hit by a passing Christine Cadillac.
I know many people saw that little twitch from Christine at the end of the movie as being sequel bait. However, the truth is it was somewhat of a nod to the end of the novel, in which Dennis is narrating the final chapter to us, and making it clear that the story wasn't over...That Christine was on her way to get him.
Fun episode. Stephen King translates to the movies so well. Yes, the books are often better, but you almost always get a fun movie. And 80s King hold a lot of places in my top 10 and top 20 King movies.
I'd have to say Pet Cemetery (1989) is an exception. The excellent (if corney) and emotionally detalied novel is crudely boiled down to some clumsy melodrama and poorly executed shock sequences. Miko Hughes as a psychotic reanimated toddler has to be one of the least effective screen villians of the 80s, and the final "it's not over" scare at the end is stupidly telegraphed. Haven't seen the remake but I've not heard anything good about it either.
Great video summary, hard to believe it's been 40 years, feels like yesterday. 8:18 the 'dead zone' is an area of possibility. It reflects the ability to change the outcome, and that new outcome ends up occupying the empty 'dead zone'. At least, that's what Johnny's Doctor speculates is what is it when Johnny saves one of the three kids from drowning when his original vision showed all three drowning, and the dead zone.
*Fun fact:* The plots of "The Dead Zone" and "Cujo" (at least in their literary versions) are actually connected, as the killer that the protagonist of the Dead Zone helped the police stop is mentioned several times. times in "Cujo", in which he is seen as a bogeyman figure. In fact, there is a theory that the dog was possessed by the spirit of the murderer.
The Dead Zone is my favorite King adaptation and favorite Walken performance. He should've been up for an Oscar but we know for the most part horror is ignored by the Academy. Toni Collette not getting a nom for Hereditary is one of the many reasons I don't watch them anymore.
Martin Sheen definitely was involved in them King movies. A year later, he was in Firestarter. The really good one with the incredible George C. Scott. This is a super underrated gem.
Absolutely!! I usually skip the ‘Nikki’ segments… I despise her voice and narrative style…. Not only that, more times than not-she’s just narrating someone else’s opinions. (I don’t like any of these that do that, though-it’s weirdly dishonest 🤷♀️) …. Just my useless opinion
I like stephen king adaptation's as long as there done right. I liked cujo and christine alot. I still haven't seen the dead zone but I want to see it. The shining, misery, cujo, christine, shawshank redemption, it and the green mile are some of my favorite stephen king adaptation's. I also like pet semetary, sleepwalker's, the mist, cat's eye and a few other's. I also liked his work on creepshow and creepshow 2 alot.
Cujo and Christine are both classics. Both great movies and are guaranteed to satisfy. However, The Dead Zone was ahead of it's time. This was a hell of a movie. Christopher Walken is amazing along with the rest of the cast. This is by far the best movie out of the three. This was the whole "Seeing the future and changing the course of history" theme that was probably first introduced in a movie in this film. I still go back to this one quite a bit. And I couldn't picture anyone but Walken as Johnny. So far ahead of it's time. And you gotta know that a certain bunch of ppl saw this movie and decided to expand upon the premise in a different way. By going back in time in a car. Whatever you change in history will effect the now.
I think the dead zone actually did predict the future. He seems like a guy who would use a child as a human shield but loves himself too much to off himself
Funny fact about Christine: the girl inside the cab of the bulldozer is actually Alexandra Paul's identical twin sister. She was on set during filming, and Carpenter (a known prankster) wanted to see if John Stockwell noticed. He did not during that first scene lol. Love that story.
I saw part of Dead Zone as a very young kid. I remembered mostly the vision of the nuke and the scene where he tries to kill Sheen. Years later I was reading the book and realized OH SHIT IVE SEEN THIS! King is a special kind of stupid but his books are amazing.
Little known fact: according to Joe Hill (King's son) in the documentary "King On Film", "Cujo" is actually pronounced "Coo-hoe". We've been pronouncing it wrong for over 40 years.
I would never understand one thing about Christine. I cant think of the fat kids name at the moment without looking it up, but i never understood two things in his death.....1 being when he jumped over the cement barrier, why not just stay there. Not like the car was going to do anything and number 2 is the biggest one. When trapped in the loading bay, the car could not fit, and didnt really come in there that fast, it was like being ran over by a steamroller that was coming a mile away. He had plenty of time to jump the hood, and run over top of the car and get away. I mean come on.........
That's your politically biased opinion, not a statement of fact. There are plenty of real villains on the political left, which is destroying this country.
Hmmm... The Dead Zone and Cujo are both great, but I gotta be honest, even though I love John Carpenter I never liked Christine, which is a shame because I LOVE the book, and Dennis is one of my all time favorite SK characters... probably Carpenter's worst movie imo, although Ghosts Of Mars was pretty bad too
Christine and Dead Zone are some stone cold classics
The ultimate Stephen King adaptations segment was in Cat's Eye. The feline you seem being chased by Cujo Andre almost be hit by a passing Christine Cadillac.
I have to admit, I’m really impressed with and am truly enjoying this series. Thank you!
Glad to hear it, dude. Thank you.
All three are classics in my opinion.

However, the truth is it was somewhat of a nod to the end of the novel, in which Dennis is narrating the final chapter to us, and making it clear that the story wasn't over...That Christine was on her way to get him.
I had no idea about Maniac and Flashdance!
Another awesome video. I love this series. Keep up the great work.
Thanks a ton!
CUJO, THE DEAD ZONE AND CHRISTINE = DAMN GOOD CLASSIC SCARES.

Another great episode! The King '83 trifecta! Three true classics of the genre. Can't wait for the next entry in this series. Terrific Job!
Love love love this series. Thank you!

Cujo is a classic. Dee Wallace performance was amazing. You see her frustration as the movie goes on not be able to do anything
The Dead Zone is my favorite King adaptation and favorite Walken performance. He should've been up for an Oscar but we know for the most part horror is ignored by the Academy. Toni Collette not getting a nom for Hereditary is one of the many reasons I don't watch them anymore.
Didn't know that Running Man was a King adaptation because I didn't know that Richard Bachman was his other pen-name.
Been waiting since 1982 for the long walk to come to the big screen
I love all his movies
Well damn. Now I can't get those insane Maniac lyrics out of my head now.
This is a great series. I'm loving every episode. It really makes me realise how much the 80s kicked ass.
I’m so glad I found this channel omg
Love this new series going from year to year in the 80s
Martin Sheen definitely was involved in them King movies. A year later, he was in Firestarter. The really good one with the incredible George C. Scott. This is a super underrated gem.
Ah, yes, my favorite commentator on the channel .
You deserve so much more views on all your vids. So well done
I appreciate that!

The Dead Zone is a cool movie. Christopher Walken is great.
Also, I still don’t understand Videodrome.
"THE ICE IS GONNA BREAK!"

Cujo, Carrie, Christine ❤
I now need to check if JoBlo have covered The Keep...
"The ice...is gonna break!"
.... I have to return some video tapes
Christine is the most underrated, okie by Carpenter and the most underrated story from King
I thought his Doctor says The Dead Zone is a possibility to change the future, that it isn’t written in stone.
??

Actually it was a prank the Paul twins pulled on Carpenter, but close.
I saw part of Dead Zone as a very young kid. I remembered mostly the vision of the nuke and the scene where he tries to kill Sheen.
Years later I was reading the book and realized OH SHIT IVE SEEN THIS!
King is a special kind of stupid but his books are amazing.
Cujo was good but changing the dark ending to a happy Hollywood one spoils the gut punch of a finish!!! Well for me anyway :)
Little known fact: according to Joe Hill (King's son) in the documentary "King On Film", "Cujo" is actually pronounced "Coo-hoe". We've been pronouncing it wrong for over 40 years.
I loved frightmare
No remake of Cujo or Christine
I liked Dead Zone
Im 43, and never saw cujo. Cant stand seeing a dog getting hurt
I would never understand one thing about Christine. My opinion. Cujo was better as a book. Was not thrilled with the movie
Stephen King is an awesome horror writer but only half his novels make good movies
✨⭐✨💕💞💕💕💞💕💞💕💞💕✨⭐✨
Im sad they went with a creep like james woods. He doesn't have to act as his characters considering he is literally a villain in real life
That's your politically biased opinion, not a statement of fact. There are plenty of real villains on the political left, which is destroying this country.
King adaptations are either gold or dogshit. There is no in between.
I root more for the dogs than the people in cujo. The main characters are annoying or just awful people. Poor cujo didn't do anything but get sick
