You can actually see the southern aurora in antarctica a little displaced from its center and also the earth´s axis rotation charts show some small variations in the way rotation is drawn.

Also the moon was captured by the earth, we know this because the moon does not share its axial tilt with the axial tilt of earth close enough. Planets that formed with the Sun will share their axial tilt closely with the Sun's axial tilt like Jupiter does.

Changing to the normal rotation would mean that it wouldn't be on its side anymore, that's literally what defines if it's on the side or not
