Ashley I loved the Chain too! And your explanation of The Book of the Most Precious Substance was spot on! Great wrap up video. Thanks for sharing. Lots of love from Utah!
So excited for the new Riley Sager, sounds like I will enjoy it!! Glad to ear you liked The Chain. I LOVED the Island, but the Chain has scared me. I will move it up the list!!
I definitely want to read Wrong Place Wrong Time. I felt similarly about The Younger Wife. I enjoyed it at the time but its been quite forgettable for me. My favourite by her is definitely The Good Sister ☺
The only book I’ve read in this video was wrong place wrong time and I loved it! But I do have a few other books mentioned on my TBR. Also, your makeup looks pretty, orange looks good on you!
Omg MAEVE FLY. I feel like in some ways this book was tailor-made for me. I resisted it on Netgalley because the cover sort of freaked me out, but in a kind of weirdly cheesy way? I don't know, from the cover I thought the writing might be really bad. (I know that's not fair!) But an artist acquaintance of mine did some sort of collaboration with the author, and I thought...huh...well, that gives me a little bit of vague context as to what sort of person the writer might be, and honestly that's what sold me. So maybe it's because I had zero expectations, I felt really blown away by it. It was like a a Takashi Miike film inspired by a series of Lana del Rey songs. I think it's in my top books of the year list!
Thanks for the review! I read The Perfect Ruin by Shanora Williams and I thought it was much better than her other book, The Wife Before. Overall The Perfect Ruin was a fast-paced domestic thriller and I think you might like it better than The Other Mistress. I want to read The Younger Wife by Sally Hepworth next! The Soulmate was pretty fun 😊
How have I not heard of the Book of the Most Precious Substance until this video? It sounds like my jam. My fave read of may was a speculative suspense called Adrift by Brideau - a nice slow build full of mystery, kept me turning pages. I love near-future set stories so if you have suggestions in the category, lay them on me!
I can't really pick a favorite book I read this month because I only read 4 and 3 of them were re-reads, which makes the lineup unfair bc obviously if I'm rereading a book it's a favorite haha. I'm really glad you picked The Chain for book club though, what a fun time!
I had just DNF’ed Wrong Place Wrong Time at 35%. All the repetition wasn’t exactly my kinda book. The starting was intriguing but as the story moved along I felt less interested in the story. 😅
Loved The Chain and The Island.
Yes, I didn’t love Hostage either. If you want something similar but better, try Falling by T.J. Newman. Sooooo fast paced. Def a popcorn thriller.
I just read that one this month and did enjoy it much more!!

My favorite was definitely Any Man by Amber Tamblyn
Yesss so good!!

Happy June ❤
"Come Closer" by Sara Gran might be more to your taste. It's VERY good.
I definitely want to get around to that one!
I loved your discussion on extreme horror. Very on point.
LOVED Wrong Place Wrong Time. I'm a big fan of Gillian McAllister❤
I loved it too...top ten all time. However, I did not like any of her others. Looking forward to her new one this summer.

Thank you!! 💕
Favorites were Small Mercies by Lehane and Yellowface by Kuang. Both on audio
I read the family next door by Sally Hepworth this month, It was my first of her books I have read and I loved it!

Sounds like a good month though! And I’m so happy we read The Chain! 💕
Just started the chain. Liking it so far
I'm currently reading Wrong Place Wrong Time and it's super creepy.
One of my top ten ever!
@@aprilhutchens2105 I agree. Have you read On a quiet Street?
@@cmeeki4 I have not
Edit: it's on my list lol
Hi! New viewer of the channel and really love your recommendations. I was just curious what you do with your books from the “DNF” pile?
Thank you! :)
Do you sell on pangobooks?
I used to! But I haven’t in the past year. I always tell myself I’ll get back around to it and then I’m too lazy to start it up again 😅

I also DNF’d Hostage… i didn’t find anything thrilling about it
💖
The other mistress sounds juicy, I'm here for it haha
Maeve Fly read to me like a rich white woman read A Story of the Eye and decided to write a book that plays on the things that happen in that book.
