1 minute. That's ALOT more doable than all the ideas of positive parenting lol. With a 10 month old, two 4 year olds, marital stress, PTSD, no family, I need to change my expectations of myself.

Really, I have found that sometimes reading a book to my kids while taking a rest gives them more than having a screaming mother take them to a zillion classes😊

Thank you so much for this. I have been battling with depression and anxiety and have always struggled to take care of myself properly under stress. Adding two young kids in the mix, I feel like I am about to break under the overwhelming parental pressure I feel most of the time. This message from you is so soothing and validating, something I don't feel very often. Thank you so much, I will implement these tips while I work on getting my mental health back on track ❤️

Feel the same. This video really helped me see things differently and feel hope and made me feel like it is okay to live in a survival mode when things loaded up and gVe permission not to feel guilty about things (like more screen time for example)

I can completely understand - I am a full-time working mum and had a nervous breakdown last year with anxiety and depression when I had to have my two toddlers with me at home for 2 months during a COVID-lockdown in Sydney in 2020. I accepted it was momentarily needed and as soon as everything opened back up I accepted help and flash forward 5 months to now I’ve achieved so much in my life which I didn’t expect but more importantly I feel happier. Lower your expectations and it will do wonders, and make sure you get proper counselling if you need it x

Ikr, especially on feeding times, my 1 year old son like NEVER like whatever I cooked for him, I've tried hard to cook for him when I HATE cooking.
I learned from many sources and tried every option possible, but he'd just threw the spoon away, ugh I just want to scream every single times

@@nisa3612 my toddler still does this (he’s 2 now) but what helped my sanity was to think about how i was as a small child as far back as i could remember, the first time i was offered bananas i plain refused to even try them, but later when i got curious and asked my parents told me they were all gone and there wasn’t anymore lol i also realized that i didn’t start to care about food until i was in my late teens! i used to hate green things in my food, such as parsley for example, now if i don’t have herbs in my food it’s boring 😅 so when my toddler only eats the pasta and ignores the fruit and veg i look away and remind myself that he’s probably just like me 😆 and will eat one day. Also i give him a multivitamin and call it a day. Hope this helps 🙂

Thanks for the share - I really like that you have labelled these tips as what to do during survival mode as it does call for different approaches when you are just trying to get by. I know that in the perfect world, as moms we want to try and do everything right and be the best for our family, but some times being the best means having to do away with things that aren't as important. I love that you have called out prioritising self care. It is such a cliche but if we don't look after ourselves, we can't really look after anyone else. Thanks for sharing these great tips. All moms deserve to experience happiness... it is such a tough gig at times.

Just a suggestion the music in the back ground should be a little lower ( please dont feel im being negative, i have burned out and i am ADD) The stimulations are hight , the sound is suding but is robbing my capacity to focus on the advice . Please dont think im trying to offend ok ❤

These tips are great, but not sustainable long term. What about when burnout is inevitably long-lasting?
A little backstory, I have a 1 year old, 2 year old and 5 year old, and my husband has a mysterious chronic illness. He works full-time and we have a business where we both work part-time, trying to get out of our crowded, too-small apartment and into a space that suits our family.
His illness isn't going away soon. My littles are going to be in the destructive phase for a long while, and our apartment is only getting more crowded as our boys grow. We have been in burnout for 2 years now with no end sight.
Do you have a video or resources that could help us with this ultra-stressful phase in our lives?

This is where I'm at. I think her point is though, that we're NOT refueling at all. You can live your exact life without being in survival mode. You do have a lot going on and it's ok to hit survival mode for a bit but then you have to come out of it by whatever means necessary. Once you're accustomed to your changes, your brain should tell you there is no longer a threat and you don't have to fight flight freeze etc.
You have a lot going on but you CAN simplify. You CAN start a consistent self care and other routines. You CAN take a lot of these steps at least for a while till your brain catches on that it doesn't need to be highly vigilant ALL. THE. TIME.

You mention increasing support in this video- how do you go about doing that? I'm an only parent with little family support, and I'm honestly not sure how to increase support for myself. Or I guess, what kind of support do you find most helpful when in survival mode?

How do I bring my 5 years old to help in the house?? When I ask him to pick up is toys be just say no or he go and ask his little sister do to it, I'm close to labor for my 4th child and it would really really help me if he would pick up his toys himself and wear his shoes himself or go to toilet himself but everytime I ask him it end up in a big fight, im really running on survive Mode
    (I'm sorry for my English)

Screentime is the opposite of helpful for me. I've been in survival mode for years. I use screentime to procrastinate, numb and escape.

The goal I have is to at least get one giggle a day from my toddler.
