Prepping, painting and reassembling the twice totaled GMC Terrain Denali

- Today we finish putting the body panels on the Terrain and strip it down for the painting gnomes. After they have done their job it is time to start putting it all back together. I hope I remember where all this stuff goes. JK I have done enough of these that I can put them together out of a box... and that is exactly what I am going to do. Hopefully I am done with the surprises on this build but you can never be sure until it is done.

Now we see the difference between the previous body guys and vehcor. Previous body guys consume copious amounts of alcohol and use lots of Bondo. Vehcor consumes copious amounts of Redbull and uses lots of professional skill. Got it.
Don't forget that he's got all the specialist tools too. Bumper moulding removal/insertion tool, door trim removal/insertion tool...

A nice touch when replacing airbags is to pack large amounts of glitter in with the new airbag..it makes deadly crashes a little happier
Yeah, I think Takata got their glitter order mixed up with the recycled medal shards order.

Glad there are people who are thorough like you. Had someone repair my car years ago, they missed the lower ball joint that was bent like a question mark. Nearly lost it on an icy road, tire started shaking violently. Limped it home, thank goodness that no one was hurt.
That's EXACTLY why I don't, and never will, buy another GM product. I had been hit head on by some yo yo in a rusted out Toyota pickup. When I got my supposedly "repaired" truck back, it kept hanging up in neutral (three-on-the-tree). My neighbor looked at it and told me the linkage wasn't aligned right and was causing it to hang up. I took it back to the dealer who all but outright called me a liar and said that wasn't what was wrong. He "supposedly" installed another part which I had to pay for since the insurance wasn't buying into his tale. I drove out of the dealer's lot, got halfway across a busy four-lane highway and the damned thing locked up again! I somehow, by the grace of God, managed to get the thing into some kind of forward gear and got out of the oncoming traffic's way. I limped back into the shop and told the guy flat out to quit screwing around and replace the linkage that I had told him was wrong. He finally did and it worked! Of course, the *bleep refused to give me back the money I wasted on his phony repair earlier. That was just one of several GM horror stories I could tell you but in the long run I have found that Ford's are far better built and far more reliable. PLus the local dealer listens to me when I ask him to check something on my truck.

I was about to make the same comment. The lack of Mr Spotty appearances is disturbing. He & Scott need to come to an amicable agreement and put this dispute behind them. It's really for the best of the channel.

It makes assembly faster and requires less skill for just as good of a hold. A few seconds per bumper adds up quickly!

It’s nice to see how proper repairs are made. Long story short, I hit a deer in my 2018 Sierra and blew out the seat airbag sensors. I had to take it back to the body shop 3 times to get it fixed properly

Man!!! It's not the doing thats hard, but organising all those bits and pieces and organising the refit from A-S (with S-Z yet to follow) without breaking new clips or losing the screw that fits. And all besides doing the frame work and panel work??? I'm blown away by all the skills your trade brings to the table when its time to settle the bill. These modern auto's are much easier than the old stuff I'm always repairing (mechanic). I need my sleep after watching this nightmare unravel.

The original panel beater definitely served his time in an abattoir, the only flaw I see is the seam sealer by the taillight is un-original looking, but I suspect a knome is responsible for it, which is saying alot for quality and quantity of repairs completed, I usually only get afew minutes into videos like these before trowing in the towel, it's nice to see it being done as it should, but not actually do it myself lol, v enjoyable and informative, keep em coming 👍🇮🇪

The Terrain rebuild is the first series of videos I have watched of yours and they were awesome. Lots of detail into the nitty gritty parts of the repair. I know this was dozens and dozens of hours for repairs and I definitely respect the additional time it must take to edit these videos. It was great to see the two extremes of quality when it comes to rebuilt vehicles. The previous repairer is the reason rebuilt vehicles get such a bad rap. If done as a quality repair the vehicle can be back to factory specifications.

I really find it fascinating how much thought must have gone into ease of assembly, every second counts when you're putting together thousands of cars. Though I guess that makes reparability more an afterthought.
sand and polish the glass with 2000 grit wet and polish out the scratches. Takes time but it works

Plastic knife works great for getting the rubber gasket over the trim after instal.
I don't care what the haters say, you do great work!!! I am probably guilty of being that somebody who has been here before.
I seen one person on you tube that works alone use an old office chair that changes height and was on swivel wheels it looked like it worked for him.
Today the bumper covers like this one are all of about 15 pounds. Doing heavy collision in the 70's was way different. Full size heavy chrome bumpers with metal brackets weighed up to 100 pounds. Laying on concrete trying to remove the rusted bolts, (we did not have the specialized Milwaukee impacts available now), was a task in itself. Then to juggle the thing up and out of the way without dropping it was another project. Luckily we had torches to chop it up into small chunks.
Coming back to life nicely! 👍
couple things, 1, license plate nuts, the MOST expensive part on a new vehicle, screw in the tag screws, vehicle just lost 25% of it's value. (ha ha) and 2. Windshield urethane, will outlive the cockroach in the event of the Apocalypse, and you didn't get any on you..and spread it to everything in a 100 yard radius. Guess I'm just the messy one.
Right there with you on that I had that stuff in places I didn't know were there. I thought that primer was to much for the amount you get way to much ! I did use it !
