I just very nearly went ahead and watched part seven of your fantastic journey, before I'd even watched this one, part six!
Watch it in reverse and I get less tired and grumpy as the series goes on.
Good work Cool Dude. I did the SDW in both directions - but it took me over a year. I cannot imagine what walking 10+ miles over multiple days must be like - it usually takes me a week to recover doing just one such stroll! I'm also trying to finish off the IoW coastal path in both directions, so I've enjoyed your videos very much indeed.
Thanks cool dude. It is the cumulative effect of the long walks is exhausting. I could manage one long day, also the weight of the rucksack with camping gear makes a huge difference.
Marek you brave soul. Think the most I’ve done in a day is about 10 miles....you make me laugh.
You had a far better time than I did through this section. After crossing the Ouse, the rain came in. On the higher ground, I met fierce winds as cloud concealed all visibility. Waterproofs failed. Head down all the way to Alfriston... Where I very nearly gave up to forge a way home!
I had nothing bad to say about the campsite. But then, I arrived soaked through to the skin and was in such a mood I just curled up and tried to forget that bag of mushroom pasta!!
Anyway, I look forward to your final day and post-tent thoughts. According to Google, Blackdown is the highest point in the National Park but I don't think it's on the trail. Butser Hill is the highest of the horrible chalk escarpment... But the SDW just skips past it.
The tent was pretty good. I don't know how people get comfortable in the one man ones. I haven't tested it in the rain yet.
So much of walks are weather dependent, I think the wind was the biggest obstacle in my South Downs Way.
@@cdwc I agree, I've never tried a one man tent for that reason. My other problem is length... It's not as if tents get longer as the berth increases.
Will you be doing a video review of the kit you took, what worked, what didn't get used?
I've done a top ten of my favourite gear. I pretty much used everything in my pack so have no idea how to make it lighter. Maybe carbon fibre trekking poles. Top ten list will be out tmw or the day after if I don't burn out from all the editing.

Yes there was a shetland pony in the field at the back of my house when I grew up. It was a total arsehole.
OH. MY. GOD. Those ponies! I would have wasted a solid 15 minutes (at least!) just petting them.

I started doing Time Out London Walks with a friend. Then started going on trips from www.walkingclub.org.uk/ about twelve years ago, they are more daily walks from London.
