In fact they refer to it as Sonoma, because Infineon left as a major sponsor, who licensed the name. Before Infieon came aboard, it was used to be called Sears Point, and a lot of drivers refer to it as Sears Point nowadays as well. I like it too.
@Phlincke I'm familiar with Infineon. It's a high speed track. It's a combination of a lot of factors, but the downforce and the carbon ceramic brakes and sheer mechanical grip combined with KERS and DRS makes a huge difference.
Just beause there is a line painted in the middle of an asphalt field doesn't mean that's the track limit. Think of street circuits and lane divider lines.
i think Indycar made it so that isn't actually a track limit violation, rather it's the optimal line. then again, what do i know, just being a fan of the series.
@Shadowboost Bit heavier, less downforce, sameish HP from the engine will do that plus the track itself isn't really a high speed track. Think Singapore, or Monaco, except with a blind crest or three...
It's a slow track. These cars are heavier and have less downforce than f1. Not to mention local track temperature during that time of the year is hotter than Malaysia. That's why they are harder to drive than F1. In F1 the cars onboard is somewhat boring to watch compared to indycar.
@Rcryby: I think that's what they're back to calling it again now that it's no longer infineon anymore. The place has a bit of an identity crisis, wouldn't you say?
that would be because they are. Indycars aren't meant to be as fast or faster then f1 cars on a road courses, because there more meant for the superspeedways and short ovals, even today to extents.
Such a better track layout than what NASCAR uses here. The carousel is the best turn on the race track.

Crazy how much faster the DW12s are compared to the old 2003 spec Dallara.
it's also crazy just how much prettyer the older cars were.
the old car had steel brakes and 200 kg more.
This is one hell of a track. I see why the touring car guys go there for their American event
it was also knows as "Sears Point" for decades.
@v8Racer1996 Infineon is near Sonoma, Cailfornia so they refer to it as Sonoma a lot
it's the sound, indy cars have a lower RPM
this is infineon
0:13 if track limit violation introduced that time, Will Power's lap time could be disallowed
No such thing as track limits in Indycar

@@jango3221 probably most untrue insult i've seen, that isn't related to the IR-05s.
dammit I just realized this is not a DW12
Nope, that’s the IR-05 Dallara chassis
@@IanTheMotorsportsMan_YT and they were beautiful.
@@DW98rosy and so we’re the sounds😍
@@IanTheMotorsportsMan_YT agreed!
they are!
Those cars are sick
i know! this old cars were damn beautiful.
I agree,

Correction Sears Point
Nope. It was called Infineon Raceway in 2011, and Sonoma Raceway after that starting from May of 2012.
Cause their two different sports, they just don't compare to each other. Other than their both open-wheeled of course.
👍

Gosh, the Indy cars just look so slow in comparison to F1

looks like a not finished track :S
It has been a complete circuit since decades. Just because it has sandy hills doesn't make it unfinished :S
like Gp2 XD
Nascar is slower than Indy car
by a pretty big long shot, too.
