As an f1 fan myself in think that the f1 should learn so much stuff from Indy, this is way more fun to watch more competitive even the in car cameras are better. But the point is competition passing cars all the race,in f1 that doesn't happen frecuently and there is only 1 or 2 teams fighting for 1position last year was so boring as hell. Love to watch Indy races well done! Indy!
Fantastic, and crazy stuff! You really get a feel for how fast these cars are, and how good the drivers are. It's not a surprise that the parts were flying as tight as St.Pete is.
Formula 1 better watch out...Indy is backkkkk! This is what a race car should look like when pushed to the limit. Challenging yet stable, fast yet loose...this is the. IMO this is the best overall open wheel racing in many years. Well done IndyCar! Keep this up and you will gain popularity and ratings rapidly.
agree. another bonus is the tracks, look a lot more fun than f1's massively wide ones. overtaking is done mainly in the corners too, since there's no DRS making it one sided on the straights
Strongly support your opinion. Half of the F1 teams are threatened by business failure. Most of the tracks are so boring. A lot of classical tracks have been superseded. Currently, the race in Monza is endangered. Ugly and bad sounding cars and rules, which are nearly impossible to grasp. (Sorry for the bad english)
That JPM pass at 7:48!!! Pagenaud was weak on the brakes trying to overtake Sato and Juan Pablo said ill have summa that thank you! He still got it, especially now that the cars Brake much better like he is accustomed to in f1
indycar should seriously rethink how the races are broadcast. this type of video footage is so much more engaging than the trackside camera angles and all the quick camera cutting on the tv broadcast. this is incredible to see and listen to. The absence of constant announcer jabber is so nice! the audio and video of this gives one such a better understanding of the skill involved and the thrill of the race.
If Graham Rahal could stop doing that thing that Graham Rahal does - you know, hit just about everything out there - he'd be quite exciting to watch and might actually get a few good results. Then again, an Indycar race without Graham Rahal hitting something does feel sort of... not like an Indycar race.
Love the last clip of Power trying to intimidate JPM out of the way. Lolnope. That could be an interesting fight between those two this year. JPM will have none of your shenanigans!
love the aero kits. Drivers do need realize they arent driving damn near indestructible tanks anymore and cant rough each other up as theyve been doing the last couple years. I suspect as the year goes on the debris issues will be less.
Loving this +indycar but one suggestion..instead of just having the drivers name in plain text, why not have a graphic with the drivers name, face and number? maybe have the name of the car below, chevy or honda logo..so many things, this would help viewers familiarize more with the drivers!
Imagine an open wheel racing league/class where the constructors championship is given to the fastest car in pre season testing. And they get a 2 position grid boost in qualifying for 3 races of their choice. Then all the teams and drivers get to use the fastest car from the winning constructor. . Just different livery, same car. It would be racing in its purest form :) We would really see who the best driver is. Working to create my own open wheel league and make this a reality
That would be open wheel stock car.... Not a revolutionary idea.....F1 is a lot more even this year than last mercedes is still ahead but their are at least 10 cars very close. That is after race 1, once we get to a high speed grand prix it might be one sided again. Still toro with the ferrari engine and red bull chasis might be getting some podiums as with ted bull and their new badged engines. F1 is better than indy but i love them both and every weekend there is a good race, nascar is about the most over rated sport in the world how indy is soo small compared to it is a testament to how stupid some Americans are. I bet more nascar fans are D Trump supporters than any other race fan! Id be willing to bet my car on it! Any takers?
Just as well if not better than they do at the tracks stateside. There are some amazing tracks around the globe, and the ones that host F1 are some of the best, well maintained tracks. I think Indycars would do quite well.
no drs and no 7th gear i believe but they have a thing called push to pass which is a button where they press and the car would gain extra hp for a limited time and they only have limited of push to pass for the entire race
Pooh Charuprakara 750 HP, McLaren ECU's and sequential 6 speed gearbox with a reverse if needed and usually around 10 push to passes per races (+50 hp for 10 seconds)
I cant help but feel angry toward Pagenaud at the 5:01 mark when he just flat ran into the back of Kimball. How did he not see that coming, had soo much room to the left SMDH
It's a great show, but most of the drivers make nervous movements while driving that you don't see usually at F1. F1 drivers have more skills. You can notice it by the way they leave the pedal in a corner and also from the movements of the steering wheel.
TheTaraxias its not that .... f1 cars has more handle technologhy and more grip ,indycars are most difficult to handle... personally i think most of the indy drivers have more talent than f1 ...
TheTaraxias Indycars have no power steering, essentially no development, tires that last more than 5 laps and race on circuits F1 would throw a fit about because they are bumpy, F1 has power steering, millions of dollars on chassis development, tires that go off at the first hint of the driver pushing and races on tracks that aren't anywhere near as bumpy. It's polar opposites. You could put Hamilton in an Indycar and you'd see the same, you could put Power in an F1 car and you'd see the same type of inputs.
Miguel Moya Empty Box For sure the development and the budget of F1 is not the same. Regarding the tires, they are supposed to perform in such a level that you can have the grip you need for this car. About the steering wheel, maybe only f1 has power steering, due to more laps and higher G, but if you watch other formula challenges like formula Bmw I am sure the don't have also. About the drivers, yes the drivers of f1 in some occasions have nothing more than a good manager. The most important is that Indycar is an important challenge and a great show.
TheTaraxias False. Indycars require so much more driver input to throw the car where you need it with no power steering. I don't think most people realize how different a car with power steering and no power steering are. Two extremely different types of driving input required, just ask Simona De Silvestro who said F1 requires smooth easy movements and INDY requires much stronger upper body. BTW for all those who think F1 pulls higher G's and has more downforce, this isn't the F1 of 04-08. The cars have far less downforce now and thus are much slower than that time. I guarantee INDY has more downforce now and has the capability of pulling the same amount of G's. The difference is F1 races on smooth surfaces and INDY is on much rougher bumpier surfaces. On the same track, it would be close
Indy is looking fantastic. I need to start watching this!
Gorgeous sights and sounds.
I'm a 100% F1 fan. This is awesome. I will absolutely start checking out INDY from now.
Welcome to IndyCar, my friend

It's not a surprise that the parts were flying as tight as St.Pete is.
The sounds and cornering speeds remind me a little of F1circa 1995, and that's not a bad thing.
azaz911c The sounds? What did you hear?
Formula 1 better watch out...Indy is backkkkk! This is what a race car should look like when pushed to the limit. Challenging yet stable, fast yet loose...this is the. I tried to watch last week, gave up at mid-race, it's was boring with i don't know how many yellow flags. It's more an american show than a sport.
LinKin62 Well then, you missed the race.
Strongly support your opinion. Half of the F1 teams are threatened by business failure. Most of the tracks are so boring. A lot of classical tracks have been superseded. LinKin62 An American show than a sport? Are you sure you weren't watching Nascar?
These speeds are amazing !
i tend to watch indy more because i prefer those cars over the f1 ones. pure high rpm v6 sound
Great Video of a Great Race.
That JPM pass at 7:48!!! Pagenaud was weak on the brakes trying to overtake Sato and Juan Pablo said ill have summa that thank you! He still got it, especially now that the cars Brake much better like he is accustomed to in f1
Bernie & the FIA should be taking notes....
Nate Franklin They can't, because all they do on TH-cam is scan all videos and ban them for copiright infringement.
indycar should seriously rethink how the races are broadcast. this type of video footage is so much more engaging than the trackside camera angles and all the quick camera cutting on the tv broadcast. this is incredible to see and listen to. Coming this weekend - I love this race
If Graham Rahal could stop doing that thing that Graham Rahal does - you know, hit just about everything out there - he'd be quite exciting to watch and might actually get a few good results.
Then again, an Indycar race without Graham Rahal hitting something does feel sort of... not like an Indycar race.
Same could be said for Sato too. Found it odd he wasn't mentioned once in the telecast!
Empty Box That pass tho 5:52. I love his aggressiveness, no fucks given haha
Empty Box ya but imo that damaged car should have let him through he was going to have to pit in 2 more turns gtf outta the way.
Agreed
+Empty Box I'm reading this just now. You were right - two wins and a 4th in the standings.
SUPERB!
Thanks
Love the last clip of Power trying to intimidate JPM out of the way. Lolnope. That could be an interesting fight between those two this year. JPM will have none of your shenanigans!
Awesome stuff
so why aren't these types of shots shown on the TV broadcast more often?
love the aero kits. Drivers do need realize they arent driving damn near indestructible tanks anymore and cant rough each other up as theyve been doing the last couple years.
I suspect as the year goes on the debris issues will be less.
fantastic video
you could do this in all races !
they did last year too
I'm off Formula 1... too much BS. Love Indycar again.
thanks !!!!
Awesome.
6:04 he tries to go for another gear up that isn't there
Espectacular!!!!
Loving this +indycar but one suggestion..instead of just having the drivers name in plain text, why not have a graphic with the drivers name, face and number? maybe have the name of the car below, chevy or honda logo..so many things, this would help viewers familiarize more with the drivers!
I agree and the lap # would be nice too.
Honestly? Since I've re-discovered Indycars, I've kinda got bored with Formula 1 in it's current form ;)
Also you can only use the grid boost if you qualify outside the top 5. So you can't be on pole using a grid boost. That'd be stupid lol
That would be open wheel stock car.... Not a revolutionary idea.....F1 is a lot more even this year than last mercedes is still ahead but their are at least 10 cars very close. 4:13 every speaker MAXIMUM VOLUME please.
Where is the 2020 spot? I need a hotel balcony.
Racing here again tommrow
wonder how they would race on f1 track
Just as well if not better than they do at the tracks stateside. There are some amazing tracks around the globe, and the ones that host F1 are some of the best, well maintained tracks. I think Indycars would do quite well.

It wasn't Pagenaud's fault. It was those shitty aerokits
David Okoroafor No it wasn't without aero kits or the rear pods he still runs over Kimball and probably cuts down Kimball's rear tire anyways.
TH-cam algorithm feeds on short shifting
I hate when they turn the onboard cam!!!
Absolutely hated this car design hate the rear end..and bring back the v8s
Cc
Why do you put such magnificent race cars on such a stupid little track?
It's a great show, but most of the drivers make nervous movements while driving that you don't see usually at F1. F1 drivers have more skills. You can notice it by the way they leave the pedal in a corner and also from the movements of the steering wheel.
