Thanks so much! I know basic Levi information but some tags are still so hard to decipher. I started my own collection of Levi’s last winter. I keep collecting, today my new to me ones just got here. They are 501’s from 1978, the year I was born. They fit like a glove!❤

Thank you for this info. I have been trying to find out approximately when i bought these jeans because my family and friends constantly ask me where i got them from. These jeans are unique because the back pockets are DEEP. When i say deep, i mean the back pocket goes down almost to the back of my knee. I tell them that I have had these jeans for over 20 years, and they don't believe me. Now i can decipher the date and found that these are levis silvertab that were made in 8/03. I wish they would bring them back.

Very helpful. I’m a huge Levi’s fan. I have a pair with a gold tag, 550’s, Made in Egypt. Date code looks like 0709.

I have a cloth tag nearly identical to the one in the photo dated 0698
98/99 is crossover years where you will see those years on cloth and paper batwing tags. There isnt a clear date line switching from one tag to the next

Just bought a pair of old black 501 with a tab that should be from the early 2000s according to this video (red cloth tab), but the date says July 98 😊. Looks almost new, hard to believe it's more than 25 years old
nice, yea cloth tag started about 97, there is no hard line from tag to tag, crossover years
I have the cloth red bat wing tag, made in USA, women’s 501 button fly but the date numbers are 0996. I thought they were 99 at earlier?
Theres an overlap of years at each change of tags, no exact line.Its ok.
I have a pair of 501s with the early 2000s tag front says Made in USA back reads 0297 in the bottom middle grouping. Do you think these were made in February 1997?
Sounds like it, Yes. So it's the cloth style tag? not the paper black batwing. Tag styles overlapped, there is no clear cut off line/year between styles.

I have a Denim metal.buttons shirt that has a black tag snd also a tag at the bottom of the shirt LEVIS red tab . Made in hong kong. How do we date shirts ?
I just listed exact shirt. Should be a small white tag inside on side near bottom, mine does, but could be missing. Either way that is a 90s. Mine is 1998.
What if the bottom, middle number on the tag from the 70’s/80’s is ‘81’? I’m lost and any insight would be so appreciated! Thanks for making this vid 🎉

Do you have other videos on other brands as well? I feel like somebody needs to cover wrangler because especially the vintage wrangler western shirts are often not vintage when people list them online. I think they don’t know what the actual tag time periods are lol

@@johnv339 yeah, I’ve gathered that I did research on a lot of wrangler western tags when I bought a lot of 180 western shirts to resell. And after figuring out the large majority of the ones I had were vintage according to wranglers tagging system and then looking at other peoples listings, I started noticing that a lot of people selling “vintage wrangler” we’re not actually selling vintage wrangler, and I think along the way other people just started looking at their listings and assuming that the tags that they saw in their pictures must be vintage so they called there’s vintage too lol.

I just bought a second hand pair of levi's 501 and dated them back to late 2012 thanks to your video. However there isn’t the typical print that tells "this is a pair of levi's" on the inside of the pocket. Do you believe this is abnormal?
There is also no tag at the back of the inside where it is generally written 501 in large which confuses me

Is it possible the early 2000s tag starts in 96? I have the early 2000s tag and the middle numbers on the last line is 0896.
The cloth tag, yea. I think thats about the earliest for it. There are few crossover years when 2 tags were made , no fine line between changes,

@@PickRoll The 501 shrink to fit pants made today shrink more than what the label says, I bought all my pants in the official Levis store and I can verify it with images, the last four pants I bought were purchased in December 2022 and they shrank too much... I clarify that I have always worn those clothes since the age of 10

Yes thee are some, not common, 97/98 was the crossover where the batwing was still made and this started, no fine lines from tag to tag
I have some 06 Levi's that have red white and blue buttons and then they have stars and stripes on the inside lining and I can't find a thing about them online how do I know if they're worth anything or not? Anybody? thanks

What about levi silver tabs?
They will have the same paper tag inside. The vtg Silvertabs are from 80s-90s.

And Today date is 29 November 2023. So it is OLD jeans. According to date.

Yea, not common to find, thats is the cross over years 97/98 where they made both the black batwing tags andd started the larger cloth tags.
