Fab example of small scale production, right tools, clean working space & focused repeated sub assembly. Master class in how one person can be their own manufacturer. Thanks for sharing!
Love this book! th-cam.com/users/postUgkxpCNxqmAkyjN6NPx1fyB7QiEFWyO5mUWL it is simply one-of-a-kind! I really love it, because karah explained all tools required to have the job done, not mentioning the fabulous diy pallets ideas. I'm pretty sure this will be a fresh start in my new endeavour. Amazon was great, they delivered on time. Thank you!
I’m tired just see you working on these! ☝🏼🤣 Not that the video is boring, but that’s a TON of boxes. And a HUGE amount of ice picks! Go get a nap now. You deserve it! 🤣🥰
Orbital sander hanged by the cord on the clamp...brilliant. I will definitely use this. There is nothing worse than keep turning sander off and on to flip the work piece around. Thanks Jimmy for a great content I always learn a lot from you.
I made a bunch of these last year with reclaimed pallet wood (pine). Since the pallets were all from the same place they were already ripped to a convenient height that also made good spacing on the dovetails.
Making fun Is awesome. Really enjoyed seeing all you guys working with the kids . Your not such a tuff guy after all. Lol 😂 congrats on Walmart and Netflix. Two of the biggies 👍👍
That's a lot of bins. Currently doing 14* 1/2" diameter half blinds in 12mm baltic birch....had to make a custom comb with a 1-1/8 offset and 3/4" depth to keep my pins from showing on the inside joint. I climb cut the bulk of the joint and its really helped achieve very little, if any, tearout. After watching your video, I think that rockler jig looks much more user friendly than the PC jig I use.
Awesome! Liked your setup for cutting the handles - just a template, sure, but the way you set up the workflow will go into my mental notebook for sure.
Wow! That was great! You have the production method down! I guess having been in that industry for decades we shouldn't be surprised! Keep 'em coming, Jimmy!
I'll take a dozen Please!! 🤗 ❤️ I have a sewing room and I want these for my fabric storage! I love them! 💙 If they had plexiglass fronts you wouldn't be able to make enough to keep up with demand!
Hey Jimmy, I've learned countless tips from you over the years. Watch all your videos, even those in which the product does interest me, because your methods and techniques and skill and efficiency is off the charts, and I learn from it. *** The NETFLIX show Making Fun is amazing! IMO your personality steals the show every moment you're on screen. *** Have a great one Jimmy!
Great video. The design of the bins was simple but extremely functional. I'm not sure what I liked most: the incredibly simple but functional jig for installing the bottoms or the jig for cutting the handles. I have to admit I never would have thought of using a band saw to cut the handle template - way faster and certainly just as good as drilling two holes and then jig sawing the opening. Or perhaps the fact that it looks like you watch Smarter Every Day as well. Or even perhaps the fact that you can get plywood that looks like it hasn't been used as ballast in a sunken civil war ship. The crap plywood we get here in Canada is either cabinet grade or construction grade. Nigh on impossible to find any good baltic birch stuff worth making shop projects that look good.
Didn’t knew you are on Netflix. 👏👏👏 Just told my wife: -you remember this guy “diresta“ that I follow and watch at nights for years? - yes (sharp answer) - He is on NETFLIX with his own show!!! - well done “now with change of style and with enthusiasm”
DUDE!!!! Seeing how you made them stackable like that!!! 🤯😲🤯😲👍😎🤯 HASHTAG Mindblown!! My OCD was like “why isn’t he making the bottom flush!!!!” Then BOOOM!!! JimmyGenius strikes again!!
Here's a thought, Mr. Jimmy. Drop the blade on your table saw all the way below the table top when you are using it as a workbench. Bumping a stationary blade can still cut your skin.
I have a version of that dovetail jig & I bought another router (5 now 🙄) so I could leave it set up permanantly for 18mm material which I use for most of by box work... It saves time as setting up the jig to route nicely-fitting dovetails is a bit time-consuming... From the Emerald Isle 😎👍☘🍺
I remember when you made the video about that hammer you're using. The one with the ring on the end of it. Doesn't seem like it was that long ago, even though it's been a while. Congrats on all these years of success. ( It's awesome seeing your old projects in your new ones too.)
Jimmy, where are your minions? You need a squad of minions to assist you with these repetitive tasks. What an incredible assembly line. Thanks for sharing this insightful video. Wishing you and your family a blessed spring season. Peace brother
Is it the tool or the man? LOL. I'm dizzy from banging my hand into my forehead. Every time I saw a brilliant jig or way to install things, I kept slapping my forehead - now why the hell didn't I think of that???? Probably because I don't have the experience, the training, the time, but mostly? No diploma. From the School of Hard Knocks! Thank you!!!
Better not show my wife. I love to cut dovetails by hand and my projects can take a very long time. She once bought me a Leigh Dovetail Jig to speed things up after waiting for months for me to finish some drawers. Great vid and cheers from Sydney mate - Dave
Love it. Would be cool if you made some of your ice picks that have a much shorter Shaft (?) for use with intaglio etchings and drypoint printmaking! Something pencil sized. The faceted handle would be nice in the hands and the extra weight of the brass could come in handy.
Looks Awesome! I’ve always felt when done right exposed plywood can look great. Side note: congrats on the Netflix show Making Fun, my family has already binged it and loved it!

Knife and poster ordered! Thanks Jimmy. Regards from Scotland!
I really enjoyed that you included music in the video, so it's not just upsped working noise!
Oddly satisfying shot at the end with the boxes filled with ice picks
I’m tired just see you working on these! ☝🏼🤣 Not that the video is boring, but that’s a TON of boxes. And a HUGE amount of ice picks! Go get a nap now. You deserve it! 🤣🥰
@10:40 proves your genius once again!!
Thanks for all of your inspiration Jimmy!
The opening brought me back to your vlogs. Always enjoyed the vlogs!
Thank you I’ll do again soon
8:05 I love how all the other tools are running away from the sander.
my 8 y/o son and I are watching "Making Fun" for the 2nd time through. Such a good show!
love the drawer handle jig. I've never actually seen someone use one of those dove tail jigs before. That's pretty cool. I might have to pick one up.
These little boxes make ice pick production flow 🙌🏻

You are killing it right now and you deserve it! Congrats on all your success
Thanks for the sweetheart pick Jimmy!
Classic Diresta. I love picking up on the little production tips.
Dreaming up the layout for these projects is probably the best way to spend those 3am mornings. 🤠
great video and Jimmy Congrats on your Netflix Show Making Fun
Of course they are stackable. Brilliant boxes just love the dove tailed joints. Also your Netflix show is really great. The kids love grumpy jimmy
☺️☺️🙏🏼
Holy frijoles, that's a LOT of ice picks!
I just watched the forst two episodes of Making Fun and my 6yo daughter laughed almost as much as I did. Great presentation Jimmy and co.
Making fun Is awesome. Really enjoyed seeing all you guys working with the kids . Your not such a tuff guy after all. Lol 😂 congrats on Walmart and Netflix. Two of the biggies 👍👍
I have learned so much about craftsmanship with these videos. Great work!
Thank you 🙏🏼
Those look really handy. That's a lot of ice picks.
Love love it!! Jigs O plenty amd the uniformity of everything was visually and mentally soothing!!!! (Insert soft and relaxed aaaaaahhhhhh¡¡ haha!!
Yesterday podcast was very much therapeutic for me:) thank you guys for sharing your process
The nesting extended drawer bottom and handle template are both great ideas. I will be borrowing those for other projects.
No CNC. No laser cutter. Just the table saw and router with a couple jigs. That is a proper Diresta video.

Fantastic as always. That rockler jig really works a treat!! Thanks for always sharing jimmy!!!!!!!👍🏻

Dude you're a rockstar now, you have a Netflix show and you're selling stuff through Walmart, that's awesome!
Thank you 🙏🏼

One man assembly line, well done. Always impressed with your ingenuity!

Finally you gave me the idea for the base Jig
Как боеприпасы смотрятся в конце! :)) Хорошая работа, как всегда 👍

Amazing work, Jimmy! The boxes look great and the way you put the bottom plates was brilliant! 😃
Nicely done!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Good job Diresta well done
Looking good! Coming up next, custom random orbit sander holster for quick production.
Ending scene was awesome
Yeah! hoping to see you at Maker here in the UK :)
Another great video! I love the jig for putting the bottoms on. Netflix show was great! Looking forward to season 2 hopefully. Thanks for all you do

Just started watching your Netflix show - bloody funny - you guys are superb! Cheers Jimmy - Carry On! ❤️✖️
5:09 when the music started I could hear the voice from The Dukes of Hazzard say Watch that Jimmy fly.
professional and nice. learn muh. thanks very much.
Thanks Jimmy 👍
Prudence the Safety Goat is losing her shit watching you let the palm sander dangle from the cord. 🤣
Been really enjoying the show and how did I only just hear about the makers central! Might have to swing on by!
Ingenious production as always.
Great film and editing. Lots of clever production tips. Mahalo for sharing! 🙂🐒
Great show on Netflix Jimmy.
beautiful as usual!
so many ice picks can only be used in a torture chamber
OUTSTANDING!!!!! and thanks for the video🤗😎🤗😎
looking great
Awesome stuff Jimmy! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
I need to make something like this, a standard sized box that works for my shop.
Here's a thought, Mr. Jimmy.
Drop the blade on your table saw all the way below the table top when you are using it as a workbench. Bumping a stationary blade can still cut your skin.
Beautiful work Jimmy
Nice! I want a table saw.
It is so satisfying watching you put these together!! Nicely done 😎😎😎
Understatement: Jimmy knows his stuff.
Thanks for the Netflix tip. Have to give that a go.
Great Job Sir always enjoy watching you very talented and smart, love how you make your own jigs

Thats some tedious repetitive work, very nice stackable shop bins, I’ll take a dozen! 😎 I noticed you’re watching Smarter Every Day while working.
Brilliant stuff as always Jimmy!

With headphones this video made me think my right airpod got submerged underwater lol love everything you do mr. Diresta
Such an inspiration Jimmy keep it up.

What a mass product. Probably everyone Hase one now.

I love watching your videos
HELLS BELLS JIMMY WERE GETTING INTO MAX PRODUCTION NOW GREAT TOO SEE JUST HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE ALL THE VERY BEST FROM SCOTLAND. 👌
Looks so easy but doing this efficient is such a hard thing to do! Mucho respecto!
Love it. Would be cool if you made some of your ice picks that have a much shorter Shaft (?) for use with intaglio etchings and drypoint printmaking! Something pencil sized. The faceted handle would be nice in the hands and the extra weight of the brass could come in handy.

Holly shit I just realized your the same guy that’s on Netflix bin following you since the AK. love your work. 😅😁
Wow - that nearly-domino-action at @13:52. Wow
Love these!!
Hahha jimmy definitely had to clean the paint off the branding of that sprayer for this one 😂 great build as always though!!
