I bought the Beolit 20 last month and tested it vs the A5 and A5 was probably a little better (very tough to tell, and at exactly double the price in B&O store I didn’t try too hard!). Super impressed with the Beolit 20 so for the same money I would buy two Beolit 20 and stereo pair. I don’t have that kind of money now but at least I can upgrade later. The app is really good.
I bought the beolit 20 also but some say the beosound a5 sounds 100% better indoors than beolit 20 it has more audiophile sound quality
The review is excellent, although it would be beneficial to include a sound test conducted outdoors since the performance of outdoor speakers often differs significantly from indoor playback. Nonetheless, it's a highly commendable review! I enjoyed it so much that I subscribed to your channel!
I’m watching this on my new A5 and you can set Spotify playlists to the preset buttons but the app has to be running on your phone/streamer for that to work.
Absolutely love this speaker btw. Sounds so much better in real life than the sound test in the video 😂
I just received my Spaced Aluminum Beosound A5 today, and I'm absolutely blown away at how well it sounds 🤯 This speaker packs a total of 280 watts with multiple amplifiers to maximize each watt. Yes, it's probably the most expensive portable speaker money can buy at the moment, but the soundstage can not be matched by any other portable speaker currently on the market today.

Just wanted to take this quick opportunity to thank you guys at your amazing premises in Gloucestershire for looking after me earlier this week, I popped in to purchase 2 Marshal speakers the emberton2 and the willen, I purchased these for when i'm working away and staying in Hotels , I think they are amazing. Great review! I absolutely love B&O products. The only speaker I have is the A1. I'm working on getting the beolit 20. I really wish I could afford this one. It's outta my budget unfortunately. But I bet this baby sounds wonderful.
What is the model of your semi-automatic coffee machine ?
Thanks for the review. Really good. I think you really briefly mentioned a mic? But can I use it as a smart speaker. I want to do three things with voice control specifically Google Home Assistant.
1. So if I take it into the garden can I control the A5 via voice to play music/volume control (assuming it still has a WFII connection)?
2. If I'm away from home with it can I control A5 via voice assuming my bluetoothed paired phone has reception?
3. In everyday operation can I turn the A5 mic off and use my current Google nest (2nd gen) voice assistant to control output to the A5 to listen to radio and play music (youtube music) through WiFi?
So, how is compared to the Beolit 20 in terms of sound quality?

Im super careful with mine and it has some marring and scratches on the silver bits. This is honestly the only downside, if youre precious about it looking pristine which honeslty I am a bit cause its so damn gorgeous, you will find it restrictive taking it anywhere with you, even moving it around the house with alot of care. If youre happy to beat it, this could be the last portable speaker you ever buy. Its sound is damn near perfect in small to medium room, and quite competently provides background sound in a huge area but the fullness of the lows do drop off after 70% volume. This is the reason i bought I bought the A9 only a month later because I was itching for the full B&O sound signature in my backyard. But i keep coming back to a5 even now, its just such a great way to keep the music going which ever room you go to while looking like a damn art piece. I will very carefully pack and take it with me on roadtrips, but the last time i put it in the car a course back or box put a half cm mark on the aluminium and it bugs me, cant imagine having it all fkd up 😅

It's nice but I just couldn't tell that much difference in audio quality between this and the Beolit I have. It's somewhat better, I think, but not _that_ much better. Not really worth upgrading from the Beolit for twice the price. I can't really figure out why it's so incredibly expensive actually. If it cost $1200 instead of $1800, I would be convinced.
Its not 1800$, that was for two for creating a stereo pair 😊👍
What do you say about the missing aptX compatibility in terms of bluetooth Codecs?
Sounds saturated but maybe because it’s a mix of mono sound and stereo playing in the same time (you can only get mono with one twiter). It’s beyond me to understand why they didn’t go for two tweeters and a classic stereo image instead of 360 mono.

I am so curious how this compares to the B&O Level.
More bass and goes louder so some reviewers prefer the A5. Others prefer the Level for a more balanced and level control of the sound stage.
Level is stereo in one box (but limited). Both have battery but the A5 is IP65 rated. Level gives 360 sound laid flat but a focused stereo sound stage when paired and placed upright.
Don’t think I would ever take this out of the house if I had it. Which doesn’t make it that portable for me. Can definitely see a use case if you need portable sound around the house though.

I have this speaker and it is really something else there is nothing that matches this speaking about portable speakers… however I tried hip hop tracks and some music that requires bass. And it is really lacklustre. My jbl extreme handles heavy bass tracks much better. If you are looking for a speaker for a party look elsewhere.
lol, i actually own both, and the b&o a5's are in an entirely different league over the jbl extremes with ANY music. i listen to hip hop, R&B, reggae, etc... the bass is way deeper, tighter, and detailed.

I tried it at B&O store and wasn't impressed with the sound. After %70 it just fell apart.

@@ritomoh5933 there’s not much to describe but i tried it in both mono and stereo paired with darker colored model in the store and i wasn’t liking it. I only enjoy Beosound 1 from their line when it comes to portables. Make sure you get it from a place where you are able to return if you aren’t sure dropping this kind of money on a portable speaker

Another overpriced piece of design crap. How the hell it can play the music right when you get mono bass and treble and all mids are firing behind? It means that it just destroys the sound in room and plays a 1/4 of the sound outside. Tragic. Want a design? OK, loose your money. Want real sound? Buy a separate DAC/PRE + some active studio PRO monitors for the same price and then enjoy real sound.
So it’s not a product for you, I love it and I have a home full of their products.
