    I watch just about every firewood channel out there, and it's very obvious that none of the processors or machines run on other channels are as good as this one. Consistent, perfectly sized firewood at an amazing pace. This machine is incredible. That patented perfect split is unmatched imo

      Well said Dorchy. I just LOVE to run this machine. I can't take my eyes off it when I come to the yard and I can't wait to get that table loaded and my trailer emptied. What a great machine!!

      Hi Joe - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. A lovely video of a very smooth operation and all you had to do was press a few buttons now and then to pretend you were involved in the process! I wondered what happened your resolution to keep your yard tidy and trip risk free - I still live in hope that one day I can sell you on the benefits of a powerful back pack blower.

    No argument possible, Joe. The Japa 405 should have a permanent "Employee Of The Month" award. You have made a string of excellent decisions in building OWB up, and they're all paying off together. You should be the envy of firewood producers everywhere.
    Keep up the good work!

    Hi Joe! One thing for sure is that you underrate yourself when you talk about your capabilities and capacity of your firewood processing system. The way that the "405" with perfect split and clean and the operator swallow up logs in an hour is eye opening. This machine can chew, split, segregate, and spit out firewood, bundle wood, and kindling all in one motion. Kindling sounds like extra work, and there's only so many hours in one worker. An appreciation kindling bundle to a new or regular costumer could mean a lot. Selling kindling along with the regular campfire bundles could also help some campers with poor axe dexterity not trusting themselves using one, be able to enjoy a few campfires on the weekend. Increasing your sales. Enough talk from me, you probably have thought of this a long time ago. You must be ambidextrous the way you handle the controls and checking every operations happening with the 405 all at the same time. Left hand, right hand...heck, you could be eating lunch while processing firewood. At this rate you'll have an empty woodyard. You'll have to call Jesse again lol. Keep up the good work and have a...GREAT DAY!!

      He is doing so much good work and making more for less. Very smart.. but he is loosing so much too that we don’t even think of. He could tack that saw dust (glitter) and make fire starters and use all that other (trash) on the other belt he could make cubes out of it with a good press. Run fro the same motor. Don’t wast anything

    Great job Emily. My only recommendation would be to imitate great directors and creators, such as Stan Lee, and Alfred Hitchcock, and always have a short cameo in every projection. Even if just a quick shot while scanning, just to let people know you are there. You cannot let dad get all the credit. However, I do have to admit that it is his humor that keeps me coming back to watch every video.

    Hey Joe, I have been watching you for a long time and this video got me thinking...I'm wondering how much automation the manufacturer could do to eliminate the manual saw activity. A few photo cells on that machine would allow you to simply watch the machine run and clear any jams in place of standing there working the saw. SO when the pusher bar area is clear the next cut would fall into the splitter area, the log would advance, and a second cell would activate the saw to perform the cut. It would save an operator standing there and allow that person to clear jams or clean the area as long as there were no machine problems...Just wondering if the manufacturer has given any thought to that? My background is with a Fortune 50 Company where we were always looking for automated processes to reduce labor costs. Just put my idea hat on and thought I would ask you.

    This is a nice set up. I would say that all have their place. I have dyna sc15 and sc16. I rent them out. They are very strongly built with very simple setup and operation. For selling firewood at gas stations and restaurants I can definitely see the perfect split as a plus. But would slow you down a lot if you rented it by the hour. I have learned a lot from your channel. I see many more ppl getting in to a firewood business. I think you helped inspire many of them. You helped inspire me and the Dyna company has worked with me to make it happen.

    As far as I can see the splitter is holding up the cutter, because the splitter has 2-3 cycles to split one log. These types of processors always follow the slowest step in the process. There are processors out there that will produce this amount of firewood in half the time.

  • @stukaman1162
    @stukaman1162 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    If nothing else, this video clearly shows how amazingly engineered this Japa unit really is - one operator can load seasoned logs into position, cut slabs, split rounds, separate a sellable product from the tailings, and deliver clean pieces of wood using integrated conveyor belts and other sorting devices. The question then becomes, given the entry level of over $60,000 for a basic wood processing unit, after determining the final cost of the multiple accessories that makes all this possible, how many cords of wood "processed in less than one hour" must be produced before the loan taken out to purchase it all is finally retired? No one really ever talks about this aspect of the firewood producing business. One must certainly need either deep pockets or a rich relative, a very friendly banker, a savvy CPA, and most assuredly, an understanding wife. And not necessarily in that order. How about a video that breaks this all down? What say ye?

      I find accounting very depressing LOL. This 405 is my third processor. I traded up my previous two in succession to get here. Each cost double the previous. I need to do a vid on this topic but for me the need for a processor was more practical than monetary bc I would not be able to stay in the game with a chainsaw and a splitter. I need machines in order to remain a sole proprietor

  • @bwillan
    @bwillan 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    That Japa 405 certainly does run through those straight bigger logs pretty quick. I am sure the other firewood processor companies are counting the days until the Japa patent on a box wedge in a processor expires. It is certainly the ticket for consistent sized firewood.

    Looking at the IBC bladders you're using for sawdust and chaf I can't help but think that a pallet under each would make moving them much faster and easier, I'm sure you've thought of it but im curious why you opt against it?

    It appears your radiator is filling with fines with the new sawdust system? I know you have tried a couple different locations for IBC collection bladder but maybe wind direction should be factored in also or keep the radiator blown out.Does the Japa have a heat gauge or sensor?

    I had a shake and shingle mill... all the tailings went to a underground burner and the sawdust as well. It heated my mill, generated electricity, and all the hot water a city could use ... once a year we took out the ash and it was a small bed load of ash that went to compost. Zero waste... the electricity was from steam from the underground burner or another way of waist nothing

    • @ohiowoodburner
      @ohiowoodburner  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That sounds super cool. I am having to come up with a plan for my waste for sure

    • @morgansword
      @morgansword 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I want you to be successful so please listen... the more clay the better to put in a burner underground. Without air, it will smolder and not burn or use more of expensive fuels to keep it going. You put in a small piece of pipe, say about four inches in diameter leading up to the bottom of the hole you put in. At first you might use a leaf blower in its end to get this fire rolling. Then you once fire is rolling along and doing what your intentions are. Your going to be so surprised when you find out that no fan or other is needed. The next part is important as well. Do not put it out as you now have a hole in the ground with a mess you can't get going again.... especially if the hole is filling up with groundwater. To slow it down you put a cap on the pipe and it will go to a smoldering fire with no flames. What your trying to do is get the bottom hot so the fire doesn't need to ever need restarted. If that fire has burned for say a couple weeks, its getting very warm down there. That is the good thing cause you just pile more wood chips or sawdust on it and just let it work. Of course take the cap off of that air intake and it will do it all on its own. I didn't quite have it figured out at first so wound up building another fire on top of my old one. It took off with a lot of coaxing. From there on I just let it burn and it took care of itself... even in the worse flooding, my fire pit worked. I must say that I think it could go out with water floating in the hole. The clay bakes into a pit pipe of its own. That air intake is the real ticket to success. If you have any questions you can hit me here and I will answer any you may have..@@ohiowoodburner

    I forgot to mention that the wastewater and oils were salvaged to clean water and the oil used to help that burner make a good clean burn. Also that electricity it generated wasn't enough to run the mill but cut cost to one half.

    My experience says that machine is overpriced and really limited in the size logs it will handle. Motor sounds like it is lugging under a full operating load. Firewood pieces aren't any more uniform than any other processor, maybe just a lot smaller. Noticed it produces a lot of waste. 4 different bins for sawdust, misc crap and wood it won't split? Perfect split is turning product into scraps.
