The recode interviewers come across how they always come across. I don't think they are biased against Vice at all. The interviewers are not idiots and they are trying to ask good questions. Shane and Spike's answers were also great. This is a great interview for Vice.
What's with these interviewers and their snarky, dismissive tone? Whether they like it or not, VICE is a billion dollar media giant that isn't going anywhere. And yet, they feel the need to pepper Shane and Spike with questions like they've just submitted a late final project at film school. Especially this Kara Swisher woman... trying to sound tough by swearing and asking "the hard questions" when in reality it reeks of a desperate insecurity (and likely jealously). You can almost hear Shane's teeth gritting the entire interview.
I thought the "interviewers" we're very tacky, she was the worst of the two by far... What a snag! lol. That said, Shane and Spike did very well with what they had to put up with....
Did Kara really describe Spike Jonze's career as traditional? Does she know anything at all about Spike Jonze? The most fascinating topic of conversation was the fall and rise of generations within America. It really is one of the most significant aspects of change we are dealing with today.
i like the interviewer for being agressive and calling out shane "brand artist" 😭😭😭i think that's a fitting tone to take with these guys and fully fits the spirit of the vice mag i grew up with
You should hear her when she (and Walter Mossberg) are interviewing Elon Musk - she is extremely unpleasant - which I think is a defense mechanism for being intimidated by the subject.
Kara Swisher is a terrible interviewer. Shown a clip of a show, and even before when no idea what it is makes jokes, then right after says "I wouldn't watch that." Guess what Kara, no one cares about your opinion or insight. Its disrespectful to someone who put in all that effort to a show, preview it for people, and then have your snide remark in passing, regardless of "because you lived it". How about having some self control in front of the really creative people in front of you. Damn, that pissed me off. And she pulls that in other interviews too that I watched, including what could have been a fantastic Elon Musk interview (if no interjections that made him lose his points!!).
So Shane did you bring your crayons and macaroni? So let's not talk about issues and prompt some dialogue? Let's just take pills and watch Cartoon Network. I would SO watch that show. BTW I am a target group because I have a brain....I am a 40 yr old white educated woman in Kansas.
