Oh wooooow! I've been paying to get this done. I automatically assumed it would be a pain in the butt to change the oil for this car because its new but this looks easier then most cars. I love that the oil filter is on top. The filter looks easier to change too. Thanks for this video! Definitely going to save some money!
Yea seems cool unless you have a 2012. The oil cooler is right under the oil filter, and the 2012 has a flaw in the oil cooler. When it fails it explodes oil all in your engine bay. You have to replace your 2012 oil cooler with a 2014 oil cooler that won’t fail as easily. Now even though I have pressure washed the engine bay I still smell burnt oil when I gas it. Btw the oil cooler exploded on me 2 years ago. Still smells like burnt oil
I always remove the fill cap and dip stick before draining. Also only drain the oil after it has been heated or warmed up a bit. Goo video by the way. Thanks.
Great video thank you so much. I just bought a 2011 and needs an oil change the seller gave me the oil and filter to complete it or take it to jiffy. Thanks I subscribed
Being an Old dude I forget often so I have picked up the practice of writing in permanent Marker on the plastic around or near the radiator the amount in quarts and the wrenches needed for a oil change
should replace the oil filter first. when the oil drain back valve is released it will dump dirty oil back in the oil pan. only if you want to get most of the dirty oil out. some oil filters on a car can hold up to quart of oil in it. it will also make sure you dont overfill.
Thank you for posting this! Until now I was seriously afraid to change my car's oil. You guys make it look easy and I'm now going to do this myself. I need clarification on one thing though: should I change the oil every 7,000 miles or wait for the yellow warning light to come on?
I just bought oil/filter for my 300 as thought about having it done at a oil change place (cold and wet outside) so but decided to do it my self and save $45-$50 or more as some places Over charge up to $120 for a 6 qt synthetic oil change and some places have un trained goofballs (kids) changing oil.
So, anyone noticed he use the wrong oil weight. 5w 20 is the correct weight not 5w 30🤷♂️ Good video although did no give size tools used or exactly how much oil is recommended
2 things. The "w" in an oil specification does not stand for weight. It stands for winter as in cold. I did a whole video about it. Also, those two oils are almost identical and can be interchanged without issue depending on age of engine and environment. Thanks for watching!
So , I had a oil change service change my oil after several good experiences the last time a couple days ago they spilled oil somehow removing the oil filter. I noticed you had a towel there to catch any oil dripping or pouring. How can I get that oil out of there now? It's a substantial amount and I smell it burning off even inside the car when I'm at idle. How would you handle it. Thanks for the video. I'll do my own every chance I get.

Do you have to remove the oil pan just to take out the oil and put new oil in only reason is becuz i do not have a anything to lift up my 300 off the ground im not trying to take It to the shop when I can do if
Does anyone know what that thin hose with that grey tip is for or where does it connect to? I have mine and it was off and I can’t figure out where it goes
My dealership didn't reattach the skid plate correctly and it almost fell off under the car. I question whether or not they actually changed the filter being the oil was a little dark for being just changed. Do we have to go behind these mechanics and inspect their work all the time? Where is the quality and attention to detail?
Right? I wish I could tell you everything is right with the world and that people always do what they say and do a good job doing it, this is why my Mom made 2Carpros.com to help people do there own repairs and how to watch mechanics that cut comers or even worst not do there job at all. Don't worry though things are getting better with information being so available people will know that sub par work will not be accepted, better yet they will want to do a good job because PEOPLE are depending on them.
I was glad when I traded in my 09 f350 for a new 2015 f350 and it had a screw on filter. now I traded my 07 300 for a 2015 300 and disappointed it has a cartridge
Because screw ons get stuck and you have to stick a screwdriver through the side of em in HOPES of getting em out when all the gimmicky tools for it don't work. With this kind? eh, just pop the thing out, pop a new one in and screw er down. Idk why anyone would want a screw on over this honestly, just a bigger pita really.
Be careful on the filter that auto parts stores offer they are not the correct filters. The filter with the extended nub on top was found on my 2014 300c when replaced and someone forced it down with the cap. Even the guy who was changing my oil was recommended to use the same filter that obviously didn't fit was too long its the 2013 filter that works the one without the extended nub on top.
God it was a nightmare.. Tried to get a replacement cap which auto zone doesnt stock and the dealer was closed, so I got this sealer putty but it didn't work LOL.. lost all the oil within about 5 sec of starting the engine.
Yeah that sounds like a part you would have to get online or the dealer. That is rough, I'm sorry to hear that. You can tell these things are not designed by mechanics lol
omg i have the same car every where i look they don't tell me kind kind of oil. someone please tell me. does a 2012 300 awd take full synthetic oil. fucking outrageous that the owners manual doesn't tell me.
How are you going to make an instructional video like this and not warn people to not over tighten their drain plug or their filter housing? If you’re going to bother making an instructional video you have to assume that the people watching are idiots tell them the torque specs and socket sizes to use
Oil filter socket size 24mm and oil pan plug is a 13mm this worked perfect for me ☺✌
Right on! Thanks for watching and commenting!
needed that
I assume the skid plate bolts are 10mm
Thanks brother I can’t believe this guy didn’t state that
Thanks bro 👀
6 years later and this vid still helping people
That's the idea! Thanks for watching!

it would be very helpful if you told us the size socket to use for removing the oil drain plug and the oil filter housing.thank you

Where did this guy find this excellent soundtrack?!?
Exactly what I needed. Thanks.
You're welcome!
be nice to know what size nuts, sockets, what filter type, oil type and how many quarts.
Ya, considering these items are probably the primary reason people are watching the video.
Filter lug is 25 mm oil pan is 17 mm
How about you use Google lol.
@@coronaAmaral100 bro your way off filter is 22mm pan is 13mm lol
Oil type? As in oil weight? Because that's in the oil cap.
Great video step by step good to see perfect video explain everything that's a good video keep them coming
Thanks 👍

Every 3000 miles, the engine on the Chrysler 300 runs hot, which shortens the lifespan of the oil.
Well said! Thanks for watching Charles!
If the oil capacity is 6 quarts, why not pour in 6 quarts instead of repeatedly checking with the dipstick?
This was 4 years ago but because old oil will always be in the system still.

Kathy Vargas Thanks for the comment, please subscribe!
And the ones to take of cover from the bottom r 10mm socket
replace the oil pan bolt, replace the skid plate or put the old one back?
My thoughts exactly, I was like, why I gotta get a new one 😂 he probably meant just put the old ones back
Would be nice to say what size sockets etc.
Do u know what I can use to remove the plugs from skid plate. I dont have a tool like u.
Looks easy? I guess no more going to the dealer for me 👍🏼 thanks

No. You do not need to take the oil pan off just to change the oil. Just remove the drain bolt. Thanks for watching!

Yes exactly! It is always great to do it yourself or double check the work being done by a shop.
@@2carpros I like that the filter is on top
I always release the oil fill knob before I drain my oil plate underneath car.
A small ring, about the size of a thimble and a cog popped out of the compartment where the oil filter is placed. I have no idea where it should go?
Is it different with a V8 I got the 300c came with a 5.7 liter hemi
Great video...
Thank you so much for watching!
Ummm no crush washer for the pan bolt on these??
How many quarts of oil do you put in it. And what size oil filter
great how to video
Thanks always good to hear that!
I've got a 300c V8 Hemi. Same process? She's a 2013.
I was glad when I traded in my 09 f350 for a new 2015 f350 and it had a screw on filter. now I traded my 07 300 for a 2015 300 and disappointed it has a cartridge

How do you do a tune up on a 2014
What oil filter did u use?? Please urgent response
I believe it was a Chrysler 68191349AB but it was a while ago. Thanks for watching!
would it be the same for the HEMI one ?
+miguel almaraz its slightly different
You should try and let your audience know what size sockets you are using

Interesting! Thanks for watching!
what size is the oil filter assembly for the 2014 300c awd?
Replacing skid plat, really unnecessary
I have a 2012 300 and that filter cap is a b!tch to get off! I snapped the plastic "bolt" head clean off one time which became a disaster
Oh that is rough. I really wish they made that housing and bolt out of metal. Thanks for watching!

No need to take engine cover off
Your video would’ve been better if you told the viewers the tool sizes.
Yep, this is a very old video and I do now. Thanks for watching!
