- The Tahoe Twirl is a 190 mile bikepacking route that circles Lake Tahoe and traces the rugged Sierra Mountain Range in California and Nevada.
This trip was rated 8/10 in difficulty by bikepacking.com - naturally I wanted to see if I had what it took to conquer the endless amount of climbing and technical single track this trail had to offer....

i love the way you rock it man. not afraid to show your mistakes and admit when things get rough. keep the adventure videos coming, theyre cool to watch
Thank you so much for that feedback 🙌🙌
Great video. Nice balance of the fun times and beautiful scenery with th struggles.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Great trip! Bring a folding pocket stove next one, size of a wallet and you could boil some water at least in an emergency.Cheers!
hey thanks for watching man!
spooner lake campground. LOL I was there three weeks ago? Did the tahoe rim trail hiking. love the video bro.. you are getting really good at filming.
That’s about when I was there! How was the TRT??
Thanks for that compliment by the way 😁
Did this a few years ago minus a few route alterations but basically the same. It was freakin HARD. We camped at Marlette Lake the first night.
Nice work! This route has been on my list for several years but I haven't made it happen yet. The techy climbing looks brutal. Thanks for sharing.
Brutal is absolutely the correct word lol. You would crush it though. Thanks for watching!!
That stretch from Heavenly to Star Lake is brutal with an unloaded bike, Can only image what it's like with a full kit.
Thank you for validating my complaining 👍🏻😆
Took me 5 hours to get from Marlette Lake to South Lake when it should have taken 3 - suffering horribly and I couldn't do the remainder of the ride. My two buddies made it to Star Lake both told me it was horrible hike a bike LOL.
Excellent video. Funny too.
Haha thanks for watching, Mark!
Definitely great work! Beautiful colors and shots. Well done mate!
Thank you so much!!
Looked like a great trip. Glad you shared it with us
thanks so much for watching Kevin!
If you were to do it again, would you rather hike or bikepack it in hindsight?
My reservation about bikepacking is that when I ride MTB I am more focused on riding rather than my surroundings, and I want to soak up the entire TRT
That’s a really good point. You definitely have to be more focused on mtb. If you want to soak it up, I’ll would recommend hiking it for sure. There’s a lot of technical areas of descent where you have to be keyed in and a ton of hike a bike where you just hate your surroundings lol
What an amazing adventure! Lake Tahoe is so beautiful. Who makes those sunglasses?
Thanks for watching :)

That link should take you to them!
Great video & vibe as always.
Chad, I’m curious how you managed the logistics. Did you fly with your bike to Tahoe or rented a bike in Reno?
I’m planning to do this adventure and rent a bike.
Hey thanks so much man!
I actually just drove to Reno with the bike on top of my car because I lived in Oregon at the time. But if I had to fly, I would fly into Reno. I think that would be the easiest logistically. You're gonna have a great time!
Do you think a FS bike would've helped? or is it perfect for a hard tail?
Did you want to talk about how the solar cooked meal turned out?
LOL. Not as bad as I thought. Just cold
@@ChadLubinski I thought you might of found a gas canister going through a town but looks like uncooked ramen noodles at 10:41 Lol.
I picked up a Toaks Ti pot with a bail handle so I can always boil over a little fire, but fire bans are common enough in summer.
Great video Chad. Did you bring SPF chapstick this trip?
😂😂 we need to make that thing on this channel
Did you ever figure out what the first campground in your video was? With the bear boxes. Was it north campground?
that may be it, yes! It was just a few miles uphill and outside of a lake and a highway where you would then get on the TRT.
Why not start a fire when you had no gas?
fire restrictions, unfortunately.
I did the flume trail years ago when all the steel bars were sticking out of the ground in one section. I thought I would end up with my son impaled like a fish on one of them. 😮😮😮
RIGHT! Like WTF!!!!
