Cinderella is one of the more tolerable one's, it's ... ok ... but it's so unremarkable ( from the painfully by the numbers story and characters, to the costume's which lacked cohesion ,the look of that film though pretty feels so incredibly disjointed ) and does nothing new or interesting with the story that hasn't been done before and much MUCH better ( plus gets many details of both Disney's version as well as the overall story completely wrong ) .They had plenty of discarded matterial to use from the original Cinderella ( 1950 ) as well as Perrault's drastically different narrative ( like the fact that in Perrault's version the focus is on Cinderella's relationship with her sisters, them being ugly became a thing in the early 20th century ,If you look at 18th / 19th century book illustrations of the tale you'll find that they were ment to be beautiful , Plus the point in Perrault's tale is that a good soul is more important than a beautiful face or cloths, and that you should judge people based on their behaviour not on how they look ) to use but they didn't,I was disappointed more than anything . All of them are underwhelming, either they try different things that go against the point of the source material ( like making the purposefully illogical Wonderland about battles ,order, logic and prophecies etc ),undermine the original characters and story ( Maleficent ) or making unnecessary changes to the originals that makes the story and characters much worse ( Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast ,Mulan , The Little Mermaid ... I made it very clear from past comments 😂😂😂 that I'm not a fan of the 1989 film ,but thanks to the remake I started appreciating the '89 film a bit more ... ) They could have remade them in actual live action ( cause most of them are like 60+% CGI ),some of the originals like Snow White, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty could have been revised with elements from both the original productions ( like the prince being captured by the evil queen , Cinderella singing "The dress that my mother wore " which gave more meaning to her mother's dress , making the scene where it gets torn even more impactful or all the Prince's cut scenes or Aurora meeting Philip in a country fair , spending time together and getting to know eachother ) or even their literary source materials ( as stated earlier Perrault's story is very different from Disney's, and has some very interesting things they could've included that due to how seldomly they've been included in Cinderella adaptations,if at all , would make it seem fresh and interesting ... Tell me, have you ever seen a version of Cinderella where the focus is on the relationship between the three sisters , wouldn't that've been an interesting concept to see on the big screen ? ) ,but the current leadership at Disney is completely creatively bankrupt as well as incompetent and completely incapable of producing a good product and actually take some risks by trying to make something new and interesting ( and of course well made ) ... I'd love to read your opinion ☺️
I absolutely love your channel. Thank you for sharing :)
Thank you for being here :)
Definitely some disagreements, but still a great list! 👏🏻
#1 is so obvious, but so deserving! Ah, Lily James! 🤩🔥💘
