I‘m vietnamese but was born and raised in germany. Somehow when I visit Vietnam, people there know that I’m foreign by just looking at me. Bargaining is totally normal in vietnam, even for locals. The shitty thing is, when they sense a foreigner, they will go up with the price. They did it with me, but as someone who grew up in Germany, i don’t know how to bargain so my mom intervened and miraculously the price went down half when the seller noticed we were vietnamese.

U.S currency is higher so $1 for them goes a really long way. Also it’s part of their tradition to bargain, they set prices up higher for Tourists on purpose bc they know most of them won’t bargain & not to mention none of those items are real. They’re all knock’s off made from cheaper material so it doesn’t make sense to pay actual retail price. Yes they need it more than others but no matter how low or high they sell it’s still a profit for them so it’s a win/win situation.
to be fair most originals are made from cheap materials as well its just sold under a brand name

Bargain is a normal thing to do in the south. I am originally from Iraq and when I visit there my relatives take me shopping and they bargain all the time. Because once the shop owners know you're from another country and just come visiting they indeed start scamming you and ask for more money than they would for the ones who actually live there.
