Yes it could well be the SRC line if not for the fact that the SRC line has gone cold. I love my GX-31 as well but this figure is truly a class of its own both in terms of articulation and aesthetics. =)
The "full action" line is basically a rebranded SRC line anyway. With today's engineering and posability. I gotta agree though that SOC GX-31 Voltes V is a better figure. I have the newest release of the original GX Voltes mold, & I definitely wouldn't buy the "Full Action" figure before i bought the original. Though tbh, those kinda facts really come down to how amazing the figures feel in hand. And im a sucker for that high quality feel. I hope this version provides me die cast fun quality material excitement! Now I have SOC versions of the following, Voltes V, Golion, God Mars, Zambot3, Dancouga, & Gaigaogar. I missed out Daizyujin and now im shooting myself in the foot, but with all the new Chogokin Power Rangers products coming, i think he will get re issued within 2 years, tops.

Thanks David. I guess the size of the box did give me some expectation on the size of the figure. I would be more than satisfied if the size of the figure fits the entire styrofoam box. It is none-the-less an excellent articulated figure and no regrets getting it. =)
I'm looking forward to this figure a lot. I pre-ordered it, and it looks fun as hell. Also, I think one of my favorite things about this figure is knowing how much it's going to drive pearl-clutching and overly traditional super robot fans right up the wall. Could the figure be a little larger? Yeah, but it's relatively affordable, so who cares? Should it be a regularly numbered SOC? Could. Not. Give. Less. Of. A. Fuck. I have one of the older SOC Voltes figures. I love it. It transforms, has a bunch of little features to it, and is really neat. It's also a stiff, awkward, wretched thing to try and pose dynamically. This new figure doesn't transform but has amazing articulation. I love my old Voltes, but to be honest, I will probably have a lot more fun with this new figure, because I buy action figures for action, not for overpriced statues that remain in a bland standing pose on my shelf for eternity. People have different tastes, which is fine, but I can't help but feel at a lot of the bitching about this figure isn't because it's bad or it's small, but because it's different. You want to pay $300 for a transforming statue? Fine, but I'd rather pay $120 for something way more dynamic.
Well, normally they only like super robots that were featured in some co-opted, bastardized form or another in a show or toy line from their childhoods. That's why a lot of them hate CHANGES or new-fangled things like ARTICULATION (blasphemy!) I'll say that I'm about old enough to be in that group, yet am happy to say that I am mostly free of those nostalgic restrictions. I like these figures because I truly love the robots, not to fawn over my own childhood.
I think... to be fair, all the hobby online pre order sites did listed this figure as 180mm and the official website has the Voltes V standing next to the Soul of Chogokin Mazinger Z which is standing at 170mm. However, I do agree with you that the box should be smaller for storage. IMO Going into the pre order we all know what to expect once we get in the figure in hand. I guess Bandai wanted to show a larger shelve present while hobby shop display this new toy in store.
Yes, I know it's 18cm. Just thought it might be bigger. And I honestly didn't look at a ruler to see how tall 18cm is. I just based it on estimation and I thought it would be 20% bigger than what I see. Guess perhaps my estimation is 20% off. LOL =)

So far the only company capable of doing this is Studio Half Eye S.H.E but I think they have ceased operations. I believe Bandai is capable of this as well but the cost and profitability probably won't get the green light to go ahead.
The scale is definitely out of the window. Anime height for grendizer is about 30metres while Voltes V is about 58metres. You're looking at almost double the height of SOC grendizer lol! They would look cool in scale though. Anyway, nice review!
Well, with the old SOC GX-31 versus the GX-04 and the new Grendizer, I can't help but wish this articulated figure is bigger than it is. Like I said in the video, just 20% bigger and have it slightly towering over Grendizer and its perfect. =)

Voltes is not 58 meters at all, just watch the ending and see the scale with the humans standing on it. It's about 25-30 meters

My bad that the word "cheated" was a tat too harsh. True that I know it's going to be 18cm but you never know for sure how you would judge the figure till you see and feel it in person. Perhaps "disappointed" would be a more appropriate word to use on my opinion for the size. Thanks for the feedback though. =)
i own the 40th anni soul of chogokin voltes v and was hoping to add this version as well to my voltes v collection but the asking price vs the final product's execution made this an easy NO
The shoulders are weird and don't get me started with the stomach..The bumps on the ankles are awkward as well.. Better stick to gx31. This one is a skip for me..😁

GX-72 Daizyujin is reissuing in Hong Kong and Singapore, to be released in Jan 2019. I believe the pre-orders in Japan should open soon.
