Thank for that video. As soon as you said where you were going I knew what you were going after. I worked for the man you bought it from for about 15 years. We have a lot of the same interests, that's why we love your channel.
Very cool, love that V4. I come from an era when we didn't have anything other than a logging chain to pull with, cars had rear wheel drive with snow tires and the highways weren't littered with cars in the ditch during a snow. The good old days 🤣
Back then, people knew how to drive. They knew that when you're behind the wheel, you don't have a plaything in your hand demanding your attention.................
I'm 70+ grew up on a ranch in MT and there were plenty of cars hitting the ditch back then - course then we pulled them out unlike today where everybody just keeps going...
The slot in a slot drive screw is good for one thing: to remove it so you can replace it with a phillips or hex or torx......anything but a slot............
Nice little rig that will come in handy for work and hopefully some fun too. If that is the little ford industrial engine they were pretty good. Stay safe and healthy.
That Ford V4 was used in a heck of a lot of '60's to early 70's Saab's, and the "Ford Cologne" V6 was the same basic engine with two more cylinders. The weak link on the V4 is the fiber gear driving the balance shaft, it tends to strip teeth off of it. Still runs, but the balance shaft drives the water pump - so it won't be running too long once that's happened! Ford makes an aluminum "Competition" one that used to sell for around $50. When I needed one for a Saab with a stripped gear about 30 years ago, I went to the local Ford tractor dealer and they ordered me one; was $4.17 including shipping!! The dealership said they knew the price must be wrong, but that's what the system said! When I told the local independent Saab repair guy, he ran over and ordered a dozen of them:)
The new snow cat looks like it will make a neat and useful toy. Just watching your trip in the snow and love your area. Whether it is snowing or burning you up with summer heat that is beautiful country.
I knew that it was going to be a good video when you said that you hoped that Becky didn't throw a flip flop at you when you got home with your purchase. Stay safe and enjoy your new toy, er I mean recovery vehicle.
Hey Casey! We really need to hear you sing....seriously! It would be a great way to end each video. Throw that cowboy hat on and treat us with that voice God blessed you with. 🙏 👍🤠
You're the knight off the road sir, and Oregon is the most beautiful and wild place I've ever lived, it's also really easy to get stuck up on those tracks! I don't know what I'd have done if I got my '69 VW camper stuck in the mountains 30+ years ago, which begs the question, who did people call before you started your incredible backwoods samaritan rescue service?! Great videos dude, keep on trucking ;)
Hey Casey Congrats on aquiring the Snow Cat. Hopefully it will prove itself and make your job easier in the snow. It's also a fun toy ! Stay Warm, Be Safe
I had one of those Ford V4s in a '70 Saab 96. Odd car. 4 on the tree.... Freewheeling, which seemed like a deathwish to me. (take your foot off the gas and it goes into neutral. So, you're going down a steep hill and you take your foot off the gas, which shifts the car into neutralis. . . yeah, no) Lots of features that American cars of the time didn't have, but now are common everywhere, like pulling the turn signal stalk flashed the head lights. Heck back then the high beam/low beam switch was on the floor for american rigs!
Looks like a fun project. I’m sure you will fix her up sweet. Have you thought of a name for her yet? Also, as a side note, I wish you would include more video of you singing at work. You have a nice warm and friendly manner and your voice matches that well. I love music but unfortunately I am loosing my hearing and will be without any usable hearing soon enough. Your love of music and your expression of joy for life in song is one of my favorite things on your channel. Work and song, two of the best things in life.
Cool tool Casey! I like that snow cat. Especially all the inside room. Looking forward to seeing cleaned up and running true with Casey stickers on it!! Great Video!
I had one of these where a lady passed me on roads like these in an identical car to mine and she was laughing as she looked over at me, I knew she would lose it. (I push the limits of traction as it is) sure enough a few miles down the road she was upside down in the ditch. I didn't stop and rub it in but should have, others had stopped, she was out of the car and looked fine.
Just last night I was cruising down the highway about 60 and a little Honda comes flying by me doing about 90, bout a mile up the road I see him zigzagging between cars cutting them off. Then there was stoplights and I caught up to him Half a mile or so another set of stoplights he makes a right turn there then starts an immediate left onto a frontage road slams right into the side of a car. I just laughed as I rolled by.. Then 10 or 15 minutes later I drove by there again and the 2 cars were not there nor were there any cop cars. So I don't know what happened to them
Just had a conversation with the other Casey about the pros and cons of his Jeep with tracks (comfort) vs on of those snow cars like you just got (lighter loading) vs a proper 6 person snow cat (($100,000))
Congrats on the new toy/equipment. I had to take boxing dodging lessons to be able to dodge the flip flops flying at me throughout life. Now she's even more mad because she can't hit me. 😁
Hello Casey , I like your new recovery vehicle! Becky does know that it really is a recovery vehicle and not a toy ? 😉 . Thumbs up man , wishing you all the best for 2022 .
I remember my grandpa had never seen or used anything other than flat heads. He had jars of different flat head screws bolts etc... It made me smile when we cleaned out his tool box.
A Canadian by the name of Robertson invented the Robertson screw . An American by the name of Philips invented the Philips screw . Both were negotiating with Henry Ford in an effort to sell him screws for his cars . Philips took a lower offer , so Ford used his Philips screw , and that helped popularize them . ( Until the Torx came along , the Robertson was by far the better screw . )
That machine definitely has potential setting that long the brake calipers might need replacing. But it has potential a receiver hitch on the back and front could also be handy use one winch and move it to either end.
Are you saying the engine in that is the German Ford Taunus V4 as used in Saabs of the era? I can't see very well anymore so can't confirm. The interesting thing is that Sno-cats began with VW boxer motors, as I recall.

I remember the Days Casey. Driving that stretch.

He is a good man and a dear friend. He has been so good to us over the years. Thanks for the comment!
Where is the flip flop throw!! 🤣 thanks for the ride.

@Rebel Yell These days you’ll get a ticket for pulling people out when NOT authorized/insured/permitted
that lil thing can move wasn't expecting it to be that fast 🙀😸😸
Nice snowcat Casey. It looks like it doesn't need to much work. You got yourself a beaut.
She is a Dandy!
Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Looks useful with that large cab.
Dude, that thing straight books it. What a cool find.
Oh it's new toy time! Awesome, love that little snow cat!
I think that was the snow cat used in the movie The Shining...lol...Pretty Cool...
Congratulations! Nice addition to the family.
Good addition to your fleet Casey. Nice that you used it for a recovery already, Becky won't be nearly as unhappy when you tell her!!!!!
She was with me. We had a good date on the mtn.
I like the credits at the end of the video.
The slot in a slot drive screw is good for one thing: to remove it so you can replace it with a phillips or hex or torx......anything but a slot............
Thanks for the ride!
Mr Casey Can not wait to see it doing recoveries. Thanks for sharing and stay safe
Awesome find! Now I know who to call when i get buried in the snow on cedar mountain
You got that right.
I would love snow more, if I had one of those things!!!😃❤💯👍
Good day om the Mountain.
Holy Cow Casey. 14 pumps would have been enough for me to send it into the heated garage. Time for that body to come off!!! Great find.
This video is full of familiar faces. Glad to see that snow cat get used!
Nice little rig that will come in handy for work and hopefully some fun too. If that is the little ford industrial engine they were pretty good. Stay safe and healthy.
Mr. Casey's, Nice snowcat & I hope you are not in the doghouse too bad with the wife! Stay safe out there!

I like the looks of that snow cat. A little TLC and she'll be better than anything else around.
Great machine.I had to put an extra jacket on part way through.lol.
Thumbs up and thanks.
Better protection from the cold than the nodwell for you and Poppy
Time to add a doggie door! 😉
Awesome find the snow cat, that will come in real handy in the Winter
The new snow cat looks like it will make a neat and useful toy. Just watching your trip in the snow and love your area. Whether it is snowing or burning you up with summer heat that is beautiful country.
Very nice can’t wait to see it in action!
Pretty scenery.
We got to watch this in 4k and it's entirety just could not see anything or comment Cool find!
nice to know about the capability of the yankum road in the cold..i'm going to call it my winter bummer..lol
Excellent addition Casey👍👍
I knew that it was going to be a good video when you said that you hoped that Becky didn't throw a flip flop at you when you got home with your purchase. Stay safe and enjoy your new toy, er I mean recovery vehicle.
Pretty cool little cruiser and its already had its first recovery. Sweet.
Casey that is a great addition to the team especially on snow recoveries that will be good to have for sure.
Hey Casey! We really need to hear you sing....seriously! It would be a great way to end each video. Throw that cowboy hat on and treat us with that voice God blessed you with. 🙏 👍🤠
Ever since I first saw one of those Tucker Snow Kittens, I thought I should have one. The local coyote hunters would be jealous for sure.😁
Tell Becky that many of your viewers live vicariously through seeing your new Toys erRrr i mean 'Work Equipment' in action ;)
Yes always refer to them as tools. Thanks for the Support Dean. It is appreciated.
I think a great addition to the fleet.
Wow that baby gets going pretty fast, maybe do a bit of wake snowboarding off the back in route?

Getting soft in your old age Casey! Wanting a roof over your head when your on a tracked rescue! Cool
Someday Ill have a 1-1 snowcat. Looks like a good find. Cheers!
Hey Casey
Congrats on aquiring the Snow Cat.
Hopefully it will prove itself and make your job easier in the snow.
It's also a fun toy !
Stay Warm, Be Safe
It's a tool.....lol
So, you found a snow cat to add to the fleet! With a little work it will be great for those high country tows!
That Snow Cat might be worth a couple flip flops. Hopefully things go well on getting it up to snuff.
I was lucky enough to get to play with that machine
I was hoping for an old Unimog with a boom winch on the back but this is good too.
THE SNOW CAT MAKE SOME GOOD VIDEO ADD YELLOW FLASHING LIGHTS FOR NIGHT TIME OPERATION

Maybe a different channel for the singing
O yeah it looks cool going in the snow ❄️💯💯
That’s awesome and glad you got it
I always enjoy your videos
Mail Jeep on tracks. LOL Awesome!
dang you scored another outstanding recovery machine! If i ever move to Utah i am buying one, too!
That’s a cool little machine! Seems to be quite fast in the snow or at least more than what I expected
That's cool ‼️, I want one,and we only get a couple of inches of snow every couple of years😂
Cool tool Casey! I like that snow cat. Especially all the inside room. Looking forward to seeing cleaned up and running true with Casey stickers on it!! Great Video!
Sweet new ride! This should make a nice addition to the fleet.
Definitely has lots of potential. Always easier when you don't have to drag them on the trailer. Has Becky seen it yet?😜
Yes

Sweet!
Noddy got a baby sister
Crazy cool! Easy entry and room.. ? 🤯
👍👍
Great video Casey 👍
Thanks 👍
Flat screws work fine, try Klein or Ideal screwdrivers from an electrical supply. The blades fit better.
I love these found gems videos. Find something for me next.
Ford v4 thought all scrapped . Hope it likes the snowcat treatment, thanks for showing casey.
Great Video! So glad you have this channel. You are really good at what you do!
Watch for them flying flip flops!
I hear you on the scews. Since I use a 1/4 inch impact on screws 90+ percent of the time now, I prefer either Robertson (square drive) or Torx.
I remember my grandpa had never seen or used anything other than flat heads. He had jars of different flat head screws bolts etc... It made me smile when we cleaned out his tool box.

@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery I restore antiques. Any time I come across a jar full of old flat heads at a rummage sale it's a big score!

Great show !
Love Utah !!
Cool little rig ! I’m guessing they’ll be a nice padded perch in the middle for precious Poppy. 😉
Nice find Casey. You have a knack for locating nifty machinery. Happy New Year.
You need to order your self some robertson head screws from canada. 🇨🇦
That machine definitely has potential setting that long the brake calipers might need replacing. But it has potential a receiver hitch on the back and front could also be handy use one winch and move it to either end.
Definitely easier to haul than the Noddy. But you have the potential when the need arises. Have fun and be safe
Ya I needed a mid size cat for sure.
LOL "who ever invented flat screws outa have their head examined " I say that alot. Keep up the good work !!
Practical, like its owner. And orange is much better than yellow, btw :)
Snowcat I good shape
Nice Little ride.
Very cool cat! 👍👍👍
Great video thank you!
I wanted to see the welder. Enjoyed your TH-cam
Nice toy !!!
Cool little but versatile Sno-Cat sadly not enough snow where I live or nearby to enjoy one.
