Hi there Kara and Nate...If you don't have the Tannus ARMOUR tire inserts in your tires, I highly recommend that you get them, right away. My brother rides his bike to work every day and I was replacing his tubes and/or his tires nearly every three weeks from all the ultra-fine (literally, smaller-than-a-hair thin) semi-truck radial tire shrapnel on the road he rides on. We have gone 8 months now without a tube or tire change...THEY WORK! In the meantime, keep up the awesome riding. You have so much energy and vitality, and you've got this!!!

Definitely! The adjustment of your seat and reach makes a big difference! Also a gel seat insert addituon on the seat might help your butt on those long rides!
@bluej511 cutouts can help, but if your body is not in condition, the gel really helps! My sister and used them when we were training for our very first century ride.

I am as you. I miss doing physical challenges and am living vicariously through Kara and Nate. I only made ¾ of the way around the world when my body quit on me. I miss traveling and the adventures of just "normal" life. But watching this group of friends brings me joy. God is good even in this stage of my life.

I realize this bit of advice is probably a bit late but you should get a knee brace even though your knee felt better. It'll help give it stability to prevent further injury.
I saw Kara and the girls when they rode right past my house on Friday! I was coming home from grocery shopping. I pulled in the driveway, yelled to my teen son to help me unload the car, and then decided to see if I could meet them. When I pulled up in my little green car, they were taking a drink break in front of my friend, Susan's, house. I totally fan girled. The girls were so lovely!!! I forgot to tell Bec that I'm a homeschool mom too. Luckily, our trees in Maryland are peak right now, so they have some good scenery.

I think a sweet breakfast (like what Nate eats) is more for the weekend while a savory breakfast (like what Kara eats) is more for the weekdays. I just feel more full when I eat a savory breakfast and I don't feel as good or as full for as long when I eat sweet breakfast. I usually eat an egg (cooked differently everyday) always with everything seasoning and then with some toasted bread or a bagel. I love watching this series! You girls and boys are so impressive!! Here in northern Sweden, I usually get out for my training session = 15 km (9,3 mi) in the morning, and another 15 km (9,3 mi) in the evening. on my wheelchair. (non-electric) A regular standard Panthera X. Been doing this training 3-4 days/week for about 15-20 years. BUT, since the summer of 2020 I've had too much trouble with osteoarthritis in both my shoulders, so unfortunately I've had to give up that type of training 😔 I really love the physical escapades you guys go on from time to time 💪🏼 Take care … A l l o f y o u!

You're 100% right. It certainly looked like Nate's seat was too low and that could easily explain the knee issues.

Hey Y'all. I would seriously suggest you try SLIME inner tube liners (or another brand). It will save you a lot of flat tire changes! All the best on the rest of the trip!
My thoughts exactly. Slime isn't a liner though, it's sealant and there are better brands than Slime, they were just the first.
@@Lukearthwalker Hi. It appears my response didn't go through when I first sent this. Slime does make an inner tube/tire liner product. You can check around for it. Also, Mr. Tuffy is another one.
Nate raise your seat to prevent knee damage. Your legs need to be greater than 90 degrees to avoid damage on long rides. I wish you well.

You girls and boys are so impressive!! Here in northern Sweden, I usually get out for my training session = 15 km (9,3 mi) in the morning, and another 15 km (9,3 mi) in the evening. on my wheelchair. (non-electric) A regular standard Panthera X. Been doing this training 3-4 days/week for about 15-20 years. BUT, since the summer of 2020 I've had too much trouble with osteoarthritis in both my shoulders, so unfortunately I've had to give up that type of training 😔 I really love the physical escapades you guys go on from time to time 💪🏼 Take care … A l l o f y o u!
