Sir, I am a lady MD physician, in Mumbai. I am following your interviews on youtube for 4-5 years. Every few days I used to search for Basant Maheshwari's latest interviews on business channels I was pleasantly surprised when I saw your channel. I hope, we have a long journey of learning with you here. you are a good teacher. Thank you.
Mam since ur doctor u will understand how actually hospitals work Trigger - 1. I would like to talk about narayana ( NH ) bcoz of valuation comfort and utter corporate governance and potential beneficiary . 1. Earlier NH used to be known for only cardio now they are increasing there product mix to other segment like neuro , cancer , gastro slowly which are high margin which will help increasing margins . 2 . NH is doing brown field capex ( building beds or new blocks in existing city ) this takes less time to brake even just in a year most cases as ur brand value is already created as patients are much aware about the hospital which usually requires less capex as ur just adding beds in existing hospital compared to green field capex which are of two type one in existing city and other Is in new city ( building new hospital in new city creating brand value takes time as patients aren't much aware about ur hospital that's the reason it usually takes more time to brake even as more capex is required bcoz ur building everything from scratch this drags ur profitability bcoz for capex u require debt especially in green field which will impact ur PBT as ur paying interest meanwhile u have to pay ur fixed cost like rent , power and meanwhile ur variable cost like employee cost and advertising cost starts kicking in impacting margins bcoz revenue are yet to come and working capital requirements increases as ur buying new machines , medicines for ur new hospital which impacts roce + depreciation starts kicking in once u put capex ur brake even time takes is around 4 years 3. Some elective surgeries are yet to come post covid 4 . international patients are coming back post covid 5 . At a time when bcoz of inflation there is margin pressure in consumer companies it's quite surprising that many hospitals margins have increased YOY that's bcoz hospital really have pricing power doctor decides what treatment patient should be given and how many days patient stays in hospital if he / she falls sick depending upon the disease . Doctor decides what would be the bill not patient. 6. ALOS ( average length of stay ) for hospitals are going down meanwhile ARPOB ( average revenue per occupied bed is going up bcoz of product mix change ( cardio , neuro ) + patients are staying less at hospital ( ALOS) but they are adding more revenue per bed and BED occupancy rate is left enough so that new patients can also be treated which reduces ur capex requirements in existing hospital + NH is more operating in tier 1 cities where patients have ability to pay compared to tier 2 , tier 3 . + Insurance companies are taking hike for health insurance which hospital will pass on to patients which makes a good mix of there revenue. 7 . They have brownfield capex in Cayman Island high margin ( oncology ) no competition . 8 . Most important capex will be internal accural and some will be debt 50:50 ratio 9 . They have significantly reduced there institutional business ( like govt schemes ayushman Bharath bcoz govt doesn't pay at time which not only increases ur working capital requirements if this mix is reduced ur working capital days will improve which will boost ROCE which is already happening. 10 . Once all capex is finished ( brown field and green field ) which will be done by fy24 . Now operating leverage will start Playing out ( sales increase , margin increase ) as ur existing hospital which are old enough contributing good sales and good margins bcoz of scale and since capex is finished in green field and brown field no more debt to be taken so interest payment will go down + working capital requirement improves this will increase ur pat . 11. Valuation - forward pe 15 , if continue to grow at 15 percent , margins at 20 % . If margins expand bcoz of product mix , operating leverage plays out pe re rating can happen and converts 60 % of ebitda into pat and reduces interest income 12. Potential to make 20 % cagr in 4 years in most conservative estimate without any re rating Source : research reports , Aditya khemka sir ( health care segment analyst been tracking industry since 20 years ) , annual reports , con calls .. 13. Risk - govt regulations where hospitals are capped prices for particular surgery in high margin segment As Peter Lynch said it's best to look first in ur industry where u work as u understand the industry better than others . Its actually sad to see some hospital over charging patients via many routes hope some day we manufacture all the medical devices in India especially large one like CT , ULTRA , MRI which are costly now we import all these machines from china which have higher import duty which makes major cost for hospitals if we can make in India itself keeping quality at best and if cost comes down hospital would pass on some benefits to patients and keep some with them which will reduce treatment cost which will make patients walk in hospital without worrying much about cost this will boost patient volume growth for hospitals as well a win win situation for all .
Yes Sir, You are right. Ek stock leke nahi so sakta hai. This is real stock market psychology. You are GEM of stock market sir. Thank you for your valuable content.
Basantji, when my tution teacher had only 10 students, he used to teach us very well. Regular difficulty solving sessions, regular test, regular discussion of our answer sheets,.....etc etc. He used to ask us to tell all our friends to join his tution.......and we innocently advertised.....to the extent that he got almost 450 students. Our problem started from that day onwards........😅
Sir, 2 financial planning questions : 1. Is it practical to build a growth portfolio that, after 5 to 8 years of reasonable compounding at, say 12%, becomes a dividend portfolio generating dividend income that's enough to sustain a "middle-middle"-class lifestyle? 2. What should be the approximate portfolio size today for the objective above? Sorry for a subjective question that requires objective assumptions and calculations. Just looking for ballpark estimates.
Sir, I am PSU Bank Senior Manager from Himachal Pradesh. I love watching your Ask Basant daily for entertainment purposes only ☺️. Please give stock analysis on Divis Lab and PI Industries. Are there any similarities between business models of the two?
Sir, you are doing a great job informing common public how the markets really work. I am sure people who follow you will make smarter investing decisions going forward. This education is really needed in our country. I have personally seen people make foolish investing decisions (e.g. following the herd in crypto or going after some big name IPO without understanding the fundamentals of the company). I hope that you will keep this education series going. Thank you.
nothing to get bored Sir..... We can listen you 24×7...very impressive and matured... But, one thing I should add.... Please dont ask for subscription.... It will get subscribed by those who understand quality... One request.... Your view on Fine Organic.... Thanks

Basant sir, US me TQQQ jaise leveraged ETFs hai jisne last 12 years me 50x returns diye hai jab ki Nasdaq sirf 5x hua hai. Abhi TQQQ all time high se 75% down hai. Agar Nasdaq wapas all time high jata hai to TQQQ kafi upar ja skta hai. Kya kharidna chahiye? Aur aise leveraged ETFs India me kyun nhi hone chahiye? Agar portfolio ka 10% bhi allocate kiya to acha alpha ban skta hai.
