    Hi everyone!
    A fairly long video here for a small, but what we feel is an essential item for photographers - the brand new Godox S2 Bracket. We go through everything from comparing it to the previous S-Type bracket, different ways to mount the range of Godox flashes, as well as compatible lighting modifier options. Timestamps can be found below:
    1:00 - Unboxing
    1:24 - Closer Look at S2 Bracket
    1:53 - New S2 Bracket Comparison Vs Old S-Type Bracket
    3:12 - S2 Bracket's New Mounting Point (Vertical, Horizontal)
    4:20 - S2 Bracket & Godox V1 Field Test in the Studio
    4:53 - How to modify the S2 Bracket Mounting option
    6:02 - Different S2 Bracket Mounting Options (TT350, TT685, Godox V1, AD200 / AD200Pro, AD400Pro)
    12:54 - Lighting Modifier Options available for the S2 Bracket
    13:52 - How to mount the Godox 60x60 Tulip Square Softbox onto the S2 Bracket without a speed ring
    Feel free to comment any other questions you may have and we'll be glad to help. Enjoy!

    The silver tab for the umbrella holder has broken off on day one. Bumping the umbrella in different directions a couple times was enough. I am really disappointed in how thin the tab is and how easy it was to break. I will have to RMA it.

    *Sep/Oct 2021:* is this 'S2' unit still current, or has it been superseded?

  • @marclabro
    @marclabro ปีที่แล้ว

    nice video. I am very disapointed with S2. I wanted to follow godox tutos purchasing a UB130W umbrella and discovered two problems :
    - when we want umbrella horizontal above subject so ad300pro vertical, the umbrella is so heavy that it drops against tube. I needed to attach clamps,... rft-17 with a screw is helpful but the hole is badly aligned on S2 border. So S2 showuld have a optional screw for umbrella
    - when we use a magmod 42" or umbrella 130, due to weight, the rotule is not a sgood as ad400pro one and the head of ad300pro rotates to the ground floor under the heavy weight

    Yeah, they improved a few things (needed), but some some reason, eliminated the screw lock for the umbrella shaft. Now, as an added benefit, your umbrella, softbox, etc. can take off by itself in high winds.....it's a "safety feature". Apparently. Version 3 WILL have a locking mechanism!

    Well done. Just started down this path with Godox. You review is the FIRST ONE I can find that actually covers the use of to top round hole on the stand (i.e. for mounting the bracket vertically). No other video (will leave the names out) show that at all (and of course I was wondering with the screw hole drilled in the side), nor could I find it in the sheet contained with the flash (no photos of that hole being used that I could find) nor any information on Godox's website. So thank you for that. The only thing I did not see you cover (with respect to the AD 200 and AD 200 Pro, was the different way of mounting the bare bulb (i.e. with tightening screw) from the front instead of from the rear as you are demonstrating with all the others. I'll look at what your channel has covered already, but if the following isn't there, could you consider it: Testing side by side all similar modifiers that Godox makes (i.e.Reflectors - for best light output and efficiency, beauty dishes, softboxes, etc.). Would appreciate hearing any reservations (not just benefits) as well.

      Thanks! It's quite sturdy and is made with the same materials as the bracket that comes with AD400Pro and AD600Pro models. We'd be comfortable with using most modifiers available on the market, if it's something too big it'd be noticeable if the bracket couldn't hold it.

      A hand grip is not included but you can hold it via the stand bracket or perhaps look at getting a small boom arm to attach to the bottom. In the old versio there were different speed rings for different vendors. Is there a solution to use Elinchrom softboxes on this bracket?

    • @hypop
      @hypop  ปีที่แล้ว

      No Elinchrom version unfortunately. It's another component but erhaps using an Elinchrom to Bowens adapter is a workaround.

    • @RobertDijkstra
      @RobertDijkstra ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hypop That might be a solution. My experience is that with an adapter ring the whole becomes thicker and the light from the flash no longer enters the softbox properly. The best solution is to take a separate elinchrom speed ring for bowens. It then sits directly on the softbox without the thickening. But thanks for your suggestion. At least it helps other Elinchrom users with a solution for this situation.

    Hello,
    Is there any changes in design of S2 that allow to attach it to C-Stand (directly or with baby pin). Problem with old S-Type is it cannot be attached to (for example) Adorama Flashpoint C-Stand. Normal depth of socket to attach anything on C-Stand is around 1.5". With that depth it sitting properly on pin and cannot be accidentally removed without loosing screw. Socket of original S-Type not deep enough. In wide portion that is 5/8" it is only 1" deep, so old S-Type cannot be securely attached to 5/8" pin.

      Hi there, it doesn't work with the SL100 but you shouldn't need to use it with the SL100 as that light already has an in-built Bowens mount.

      @@hypop Hi! Thank you for your reply.
      I know, but I wanted a collapsible easy to carry soft box, because I do in home, location shoots all the time, and there is one 31x3!" that works with the S2 type. I'm buying one that I could use with Bowens, so that should work. Hopefully! Have a great evening!
