Type 3's VW's are cool and rare these days. I haven't see one in years. This is awesome.
Im excited for this one! All type 3s, and all aircooleds need to be saved! You are more than welcome to save any and all aircooleds, we will keep watching! 🤘
Thanks a lot, Alex!!
@@JohnLudwick let me know when I can have it 😎👍🙏
The recent aircooled focus is why I subscribed. Not many channels that do this and those that do have low production quality. High Production Quality + Aircooled = WIN!
That means a lot to me man! I really appreciate that!
The Super Bowl VW ad made me think of your beetle 😂
Best ad not biased at all
Yes bags a sleeper lots of love from south Africa Johannesburg 🇿🇦
This is absolutely amazing! Im impressed it started and runs so well! Now slam it 😏
Oh I am!!
That engine ran so well after all that time. Sounded great and seems to be in good shape. Looking forward to this content.
Thanks man! I can’t believe how well it ran!
@JohnLudwick I have a 68 notch with an original engine. It runs well too, but has a couple of small oil leaks.
That awesome that you were able to get that thing (I mean type 3) running so quickly. But the best part of the video was the dealer badge on the back " Volunteer Tullahoma ". Sounds like it just came home. To Tennessee that is.
It definitely did!
My first car was a Beetle. the fact that you have one in your collection says a lot about your taste in Classic Cars.
That’s awesome!
John I had a new 1968 type3fastback when I was 17 and got on the Vail ski patrol and drove from Denver to Vail every weekend to my job nice to see you restoring one mine was black with red interior fun and games going over Loveland Pass in winter
i finally got my fiero back on the road after wheel bearings done
Pretty cool!
You’ve done it again - can’t wait to see what you do with this one!
Thanks man!
I rebuilt one i had in 92, my only one, had alot of bugs/ghia's, engine sounds really good. Hope it works out.
Very impressed that the Fastback runs! I’m stoked for this one but only after the Auto Union! The beetle’s fender makes me sad.
Same man!!
Wow, sounds nice, sounds pretty good man. This car would look very nice with that Murder Matt Black theme
John you kept your word on the auto union taillights 😂
Love the type 3, can't wait to see it slammed.
Always been a fan of air-cooled vehicles the 3 is gonna be awsome slammed to the earth!
Your channel inspires me to get the tools out and get to work on my 73 Beetle. It's a runner and just needs some TLC. Your approach to your projects is just like mine.......get them running and have some fun. Keep up the good work.
That’s awesome!!
Love those fastbacks , make it cool again !!!
Hoping to!!
Just found your channel by chance … can’t wait to follow the fastback.. 😊🇬🇧🇬🇧
If you can summon a type 3 notchback to your garage, then I think you would be the air-cooled VW master!!
SCORE! It runs! YAY!
Incredible that this thing fired up for you guys
Can’t believe it 😂
@@JohnLudwick I was watching it like there's no f-ing way that thing starts, lol to good
I like this thing. Obviously the engine is in the right place.
It’s becoming a problem 😂
Dude - love your channel and your ambition. Nothing wrong with an air-cooled focus - resonates with us older veedub nuts. Anyway, you're a braver man than me going after that crusty Type 3. The Fastbacks are cool, but wow - so much rust on that specimen - looking forward to seeing how the project develops - will make for great TH-cam watching. 🙂
Thanks man! I appreciate it!
Awesome. Cant wait to see what you do with this
Thank you!
How cool, I remember taking a slammed green Fastie for a test drive about a decade ago.
This thing would 100% be scrap metal here in New Zealand, no way you'd get that through a "warrant of fitness" without spending about $10,000. What are the legalities around road worthiness there? Can you run anything as long as its insured? That's the dream.
It depends on the state! They’re all different. I’m from New Hampshire where there are stricter inspection laws; here in Tennessee, there is NO inspection 😂
I’d do a type 1 conversion 4 in narrowed linkpin beam but if you wanna do it cheap the front of type 3s are splined like the beetle rear and can slam them cheap
Damn good VW type 3! Love & admiration from the Philippines! Take a look at the Brazilian Gurgel. It's a wild version of the Thing! Keep them rolling Brother!
Thank you!
Here for the awesome air cooled VWs
Thanks man!
the patina is great on these cars.
love your channel.. I hope one day I’ll get to build stuff with my sons
Thank you!
One awesome thing about type3s is rear fenders unbolt as well so you have easy access to repairs rust wise lol
Stay Air-Cooled ❤
Always!!
I want a type 3 so bad! Looking forward to the build
Hey you’re done it again 😊
I live in Memphis, and I worked as a scale buyer at a salvage yard for several years. I bought and resold a car that was identical to that Type 3. I bought two of them from the same seller. One was a '71, and the other was a '73 if I remember right, and I got titles for them and resold both of them to the same buyer. They were both full of VW parts that I made a ton of money selling online. This would have been about ten years ago, and I did manage to get the car to run for a few minutes before I resold it. I wonder if it's the same car. It has to be. It had too many unique features.
that car is cool... i like the exhaust note
Me too!
So gangsta. Shoutout to the patina paradise. Cant wait to see it slammed.
I hope you restore the car and put it back together!!!
Dade County Aviation Dept. windshield decal 👍
Yes!
Good video I’m sure I’ll be watching again after just buying a type 3 Squareback that’s been sitting for 10 years I haven’t even brought home yet supposedly has a bad fuel pump
It’s crying out for a slammed on moon discs moon eyes tribute.. Good luck.
Yes!!
Nothing wrong with an air cooled shop!
I love it!
Definitely stay an air cooled shop, haha. Also would be sick to see your dad create a custom exhaust for the fastback as well.
That would be awesome!
Just gonna throw this out there...add a set of 17" 2 liter (914) wheels! 😂
Those types fuel pumps are pushers not pullers.
Great Vidio....like these when you get a car that has not run in yrs that you get it going.
Nice job guys.
at least they rolled easy off the trailer.😁
You can purchase two single carb and intake setups and lose the “high-rise” intake and carb so you can reclaim your trunk floor!
Still have PTSD from owning and rebuilding squarebacks and fastbacks in the 80’s. I can attest that a fastback doesn’t make a great NASCAR racer 😂
😂😂😂
Everytime your dad MacGyver comes around he fixes or things work
He’s the best!
I have one just like it, it's in slightly better shape rust wise and still has fuel injection set up, it's up for sale in central lower Michigan 1969 $1,850 OBO marketplace
Presumably it was fuel injected, a previous owner couldn't repair that so installed that carburetor.
this thing is gonna look so good closer to the ground
Can’t wait!
I know switching to daul carbs sound like a headache, but would look alot better than that progressive carb.
Or go back to injection.
lol i've never seen a type 3. cool looking car :)
Bag it and drive it!
Thanks
I'm in shock right now, I never had heard about an injection VW by default, here in Brazil all the VW use carburetor by default
here in the USA they used twin carbs through (I believe) 1967, then went to injection. I used to go and find the carb cars, then swap the parts to a bus or bug. (modification required) I also did more than one injection conversion to a bug. It ran VERY well.
Here almost every VW are single carbs, had some twin carbs but I believe are only the etanol version
@@uaijoaopaulo here, the only VWs that were ever twin carb were type 3 and type 4. The type 4 was a completely different engine.
The type 3 needs a porsche engine (if it fits)
great deal!
Brah. That patina is killer. Please don’t ruin it with a paint job. Jaaa jk I know you are smarter than that. Brah. Air cooled is king. Fast backs are rare. I have never seen a VW channel work on one. I don’t like late model VWs but fast backs are so unique I think it can look sick. With a slammed suspension and some sick wheels it will look dope. Btw I make exception for late model buses cuz split windows are too expensive now.
Would never paint over patina!!
always hated the safety bumpers, i had a 1963 notchback, somebody rearended me doing about 30 mph
I dislike the late bumpers as well!
Always new oil?
i glad to see your dad MacGyver 😂 told you he MacGyver
Looks like you are gonna need a bigger garage! Please dont sell these cars..
Is this going to be restored?
Try to use a tripod more. Handheld videos are more watchable.
You thinking of going bags or static??
Static!!
Love the Beetle, Late model Fastback, Not!
Put a Lycoming or Continental airplane engine in it
Spoko!... 🖐️
Luv th looks!
Slam tht bébé low
nice patina , but a lot rust XD
lucky the engine turns over.
Drop by www.youtube.com/@DuckmanCycles if you get chance, lots of air cooled VWs including type 3.
Fun rusty
It really is 😂
yall need that shot tetanus is crazy lol
Seriously 😂
subaru engine swap
Please put your camera on a stand. Can not watch moving around. very di fficult to watch
People will pay to win the bug, and people will pay to not win the type 3 😆
😂😂😂
When I met my wife she drove one of these POS. It had one of the worlds first EFI
systems and it was always breaking down. We would have to pay to have it towed
to the dealership and the first thing they always did was plug it into an EFI
diagnostic machine which was always $65 just to find out what was wrong. Then
they repaired it, charged us alot, and sent us on our way. God I hated that car.
Eventually we had enough & traded it for a 2yo Ford Maverick sedan.
!
My first car was a Type 3 in high school in the early 80's. Thank you for the video.
